I don’t know if anybody mentioned, or posted, that Neil Peart was ranked #4 on the Rolling Stone list of the 100 greatest rock drummers of all time, but here it is:

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/...-drummers-of-all-time-77933/neil-peart-31860/

I can’t disagree with the top 4. I feel like John Bonham deserves to be #1. You listen to Led Zeppelin songs like “When the Levee Breaks”, and the power of his drumming is driving the song. I recall listening to Led Zeppelin songs on a really good stereo system with subwoofer and I would get blown away listening to the power of Bonham’s drumming and its dominance in the sound of many LZ songs.

Neil Peart was more of a speed guy. I think “Red Barchetta” and “Tom Sawyer” are the best exemplars of his drumming technique. He was more like Keith Moon stylistically than Bonham, although both were unique.

Phil Collins (didn’t see where they ranked him) is more like Bonham stylistically. I sometimes wonder whether “In The Air Tonight” was his tribute to Bonham as the drums in that song are very Bonhamesque.

Sirius XM channel 27 known as Deep Tracks is now temporarily an all Rush channel also featuring snippets of interviews with Neil. It sure is great hearing all the classics as well as deep cuts from albums like Caress Of Steel.

Thanks for the link EB. Lists like this are always subjective and open to debate but they're always interesting. Personally I would rearrange the top 5 as follows: 1. Moon 2. Baker 3. Blaine 4. Bonham 5. Peart. My main objections to the overall list are that not enough credit is given to: Benny Benjamin (# 11 but should be in the top 10); Earl Palmer (# 25 but should also be top 10); Jerry Allison (in the forties but should be in the top 15); and Kenny Aronoff (incredibly only at # 66 but should be top 20).

I was saddened by the passing of Peart and therefore a link to my youth and some of my favorite memories but for a drummer Neal Peart lived a good and prosperous long life. Drummers have had it pretty tough starting with Keith Moon. They seem to go first in every band.
This band went through 9 drummers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZrqC5LL_oo

Does that mean it can not be my favorite, lol
Absolutely not! Lol! We were just kidding about your R50 tour...even if we wish so much it could happen one day but not anymore. :( At least I can say I was grateful to attend R30 and R40 tour with awesome setlist and prestation from the band.

Just busting balls STN. I just found it funny that out of the 20 odd albums Rush put out you picked a track from the one studio album Neil didn't play on. To be fair that song became a fixture of the live act so Neil played it live thousands of times.

Lol you were referring to the song not the tour! Worrking man is Geddy's favorite to play live. Poor John Rutsey and his diabetes. He almost died after few concert with the band. Sad for him he had to leave the band but good for the band and their fans he has been replaced by Neil! :)
