Are you aware that 50% of the Mariopol population are Russians. Most want to go back
Ethnically Russians and Ukrainians are practically indistinguishable. The language is also not directly related to the identification as many Ukrainians have Russian as the first language and many Russians living in Ukraine are fluent in Ukrainian. So, it is mostly political self-identification.

Ukrainian authorities in the besieged ruins of Mariupol said Friday that about 300 people died when a Russian airstrike blew up a theatre where hundreds of civilians were sheltering — a catastrophic loss of civilian life that, if confirmed, is likely to further crank up pressure on western nations to step up military aid.

In a vain attempt to protect those inside the grand, columned theatre from missile and airstrikes that Russia has rained down on cities, an enormous inscription reading “CHILDREN” in Russian was posted outside the building and was visible from the air. :(

The desperate escape of the last journalists in Mariupol:

====
We reached an entryway, and armored cars whisked us to a darkened basement. Only then did we learn from a policeman why the Ukrainians had risked the lives of soldiers to extract us from the hospital.

“If they catch you, they will get you on camera and they will make you say that everything you filmed is a lie,” he said. “All your efforts and everything you have done in Mariupol will be in vain.”

The officer, who had once begged us to show the world his dying city, now pleaded with us to go. He nudged us toward the thousands of battered cars preparing to leave Mariupol.

It was March 15. We had no idea if we would make it out alive.

These are the exact arguments Putin has made for invading Ukraine in the first place- and "reuniting" it with "Greater Russia"

These are not arguments but simple facts. Anybody who knows the region can confirm it. Though I do not see the logic how it justifies the invasion. Can you ethnically separate Canadians from Americans? There are also truly little differences in English. So, by the same logic is it perfectly fine for US to invade Canada if they disagree with some Canadian policy? It is quite opposite for civilized countries. Similarity provides an additional barrier to hostilities.

The closest analogy with our North American experience is the Revolutionary War. The former Russian region/colony (Ukraine) was reluctantly granted independence in 1991 because Moscow had no means to keep it. After about thirty years the Metropolis (Moscow) changed its mind and has decided to get it back. In fact, it is a delayed war for Independence and as in the American case it will be marking the true birth of independent Ukrainian state.

Over the last month, Russian forces have assaulted the people of Ukraine. In addition to news of attacks on civilians and families displaced, there are now initial reports that Russian forces have committed sexual violence.

This month, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba claimed that Russian soldiers had committed “numerous” rapes against Ukrainian women. Last week, Ukrainian MPs charged that Russian forces were targeting women and girls specifically and that elderly women had been raped.

Russian armed forces have recently perpetrated sexual violence in other conflicts.

I am just telling you what Putin's justification was to invade. No more nor less. These were his arguments, not mine.

Around the corner
They weren`t deported. They were abducted.
Russia needs to replenish its population after the losses on the battlefield.
Yes they were abducted and the only repopulation will be in Siberian labour camps or cemeteries. This is Putin’s way of integrating new immigrants.

Major General Oleg Mityaev, Major General Andrei Sukhovetsky, Major General Vitaly Gerasimov and Major General Andrei Kolesnikov have been killed by Ukrainian forces during the Russian invasion of the country.

The latest senior figure to die in the war is Lieutenant General Andrey Mordvichev, one of Putin's most trusted leaders.

Five generals are among the senior Russian military figures to perish in Ukraine as Vladimir Putin sends his forces to die in his illegal invasion.

Russian brigade commander in Ukraine - Colonel Yuri Medvedev - said to have been killed by his own troops.

Western officials said the mutiny was down to the scale of losses being suffered by his brigade in Ukraine.

20 out of Putin's 120 battalions stationed in or around the country said to have been rendered inoperative.

According to breaking news, the big attack in which a Russian warship was sunk in Berdyansk was imaged by satellite, Russia's silence continues, which did not make any explanation.
Images of the ambush near Kyiv were shared on social media, and there were US volunteers as well as Ukrainian female volunteers in the attack.

6 generals were killed.
