I honestly do not understand the intent of such a person. Are they contacting you just to harass you, or did they actually hope to see you and when things do not go as they expected start the insults?
Just trying to understand the thought process here...What are the missing steps between "Oh, this SP looks hot, I will write her" to throwing racist insults?

Second option.

This person contacted me for an outcall and I thought his attitude was questionable so I asked him to send me a gift card to cover my transportation fees. That’s when he lost it and called me a scammer, so I said: there are many reviews to confirm I’m real

Then he said he would f*** them up. He contacted me from a different number shortly after and I knew it was him so I texted him the same answers, he called me the N word again and said “you’re an idiot I have 10 phone numbers”

At this point, he sounded like a Disney villain. You know when they have their solo song detailing their evil plan. Thanks for letting me know that you’re going to attempt to waste my time with 8 other phone numbers and that if ever I get a weird review from a new account, it will be from you.

I just do not comprehend how someone who had a serious desire to meet a SP, goes from wanting to book an outcall to this. I understand not wanting to pay upfront, and that's totally fine. Just say no thanks and move on. I guess the anonymity of today's life teaches people to not fear consequences. Imagine someone acting like this in person, it's just a matter of FAFO to happen.

I don’t ask for gift cards often but when I do, I’m not offended if the person says no. I just wish them a good evening/day and move on.

It’s not like I’m the only SP in the city, you’ll find another one I’m not too worried.

Agree for the first part. I never understood why French (written/in school) need to be so overblown for nothing. But i do like my Quebec french. I do think "tabarnak" should be an actual word and "crisser/calisser" verbs. And when i say Tabarnak i do mean it not "tabernacle" like the church thing as nobody say it like that.

For the second part im always amaze when peoples choose to live here but not learn the language . Its like if i got to live in Mexico i would learn spanish as quick as i could. Same if i would go like in Japan, i would take Japanese lessons.

English speakers i feel rely a bit too much on our "hospitality" to accomodate them.

My absolute pet peeves is not being able to be serve in french in my own french province. I am more lenient if the person is obviously of foreign descent (Asian, Arab, Hispanic etc) as they had to learn a second language already but some Quebec born white ppls not making the effort to learn our language ...yikes.

Its not a personal attack on you there im talking in general. Its really bothers me. It contribute to the loss of french in our nation.

I think the worst ones are the canadians that decided to move and live here and they totally refuse to learn French, some of them won’t even acknowledge that it’s the official language. I find them so condescending and on top of that they will throw the word racism at anyone who condemns them.

Last weekend i sleep at my uncle's place. He litterally told me THE SAME answer. Me i speak decent english so usually my reflex is to speak it if they don't speak french. Make sense.. Him? He refuse even if he speak it and speak spanish too. He travelled a lot so language or foreign culture is not an issue to him. But he hate to see Quebec getting burried.... In his mind its Quebec is french so speak it or screw you.

Is he wrong? I do think Quebec official language is french and we should be able to speak our language "home" but then the nice person inside me want to accomodate others who don't speak it...

Language doesn't come naturally to everyone. Some even have enough trouble learning their own language. And people like me, where my heritage is here. I can date back to being in the Montréal area back to 1700's. I've tried learning French. It doesn't change that if I am sourounded by at least 2 french conversations around me it sets me into a panick attack. At my ex's family get-together i had to leave and take air, smoke a joint to calm myself down 3 times. Only people I could carry out a conversation with and understand them, were the kids.
It wasn't entirely appealing when young to learn the language either as there were so many battles between english and french. I distinctly remember being 7 and had a 14yro bully who would beat on me just because he didn't like that i was english and was friends with his little cousin my age.

I don't mind having conversations with you in Shakespeare language dear. It's ok because you did your best to learn it.
That being said, I can easily imagine a french speaking being bullied in other provinces as well.
I couldn't speak english when I was young but I do had to learn it in order to pursue a career in information technology...

An english speaking person who learn french gets instant respect from french peers because he does it mainly for cultural interests.
An french speaking person has to learn english because it's the normality... If you don't do so in North America, you're more fucked up than an english speaking person who can't speak french.

They all speak way too fast. I would be yelling at the TV "slow the fuck down!!!!!" All of them. So that there were no distinctive words to listen to. When the words all blend together in your ears and brain, learning is impossible.

Anyway this thread has now degenerated into a discussion of language and language bullies. Some posters have pointed out that the text which started the thread, and which I tried to Google Translate, is an example of poor or illiterate French. There was no way for me to know that. For all I knew, the dude speaks French like Victor Hugo or Voltaire. Maybe if he is sending text messages to someone he should communicate better. However there is no way for me to know what French is mediocre, good or superb. It's all equally unintelligible to me. I can only communicate in the language of Shakespeare. And yes he is the best known and most skilled writer of the English language. There are reasons for his fame.

I can get lost in translation with English conversations which sometimes is not even slang....I don't use a translator so I just go to the next message...

In the sports threads sometimes I can understand Gaby's posts.....sometimes not. I will run it through Google Translate if I want to comment. Reading French is a little easier than listening to it. For example the word "Danger" is the same in both languages but pronounced totally different so it sounds like a different word when uttered by a French speaker. And it's a damn important word because if someone warns you of "danger" in the road ahead, you kind of need to know what they are saying.

There's a reason google says "did you mean ****?", it's because what you wrote isn't proper grammar for the language. If you paid attention you would've known. So there was, in fact, a way for you to know that. Lol

To be fair, Google was so confused that it suggested the same typo and only added an apostrophe to j'ai instead, but it's still obvious that it meant something wasn't linguistically correct. At least it's obvious to anyone who is familiar with Google. If you'd clicked on the suggestion instead of taking a screenshot, you would've noticed the translation changed to "I have nowhere to sleep"

Nor do I make any assumptions as to which French speaker on this board has a Doctorate in French and who doesn't. In fact for all I know a French Professor at McGill could PM me and say, "hey EB- everyone who commented on your post- guess what! Their French sucks money balls too!" There is no way for me to objectively assess any of that. Or the credibility of such a PM if I got one.

Believe it or not I did get PMs in the past from French speakers commenting on the poor grammar of other French speakers posting here. This sometimes came up in the context of misunderstood posts by others. There is one bilingual poster who aided me in understanding some posts of others on some rare occasions. He would often comment on the quality of the French being used. His comments were often not favorable and since he was an educated person, I usually accepted his opinion. Could he have been wrong, maybe. No way for me to know.

I copied and pasted the quoted phrase into Google and clicked translate. There is not time enough in the day to do anymore and this suggestion that I didn't exercise "due diligence" to determine someone's bad grammar in a language I don't speak is a little ridiculous. In fact, I posted the screen shot of exactly what I did!

The point she was making is why do you bother commenting at all on a language you don’t speak or understand and argue with local French speakers.
