If you're talking about very, very recently, it was the F1 race. So yeah, they spiked their rates. They do every year.
If you're talking more generally, I didn't really notice, to be honest. It's possible.
One thing I did notice though, like 15 minutes ago, is that
MAE88, whose track record is passable at best, has a new girl (post-Grand Prix) at $280 / hour. They were at $240 six months ago. These guys were charging $180 or $200 not two years ago. They increased dramatically their rates in the past year. Not to pile on on an agency I already criticized in the past, but their offer is subpar, and now they're getting at $300 / hour soon!? What the hell?
How can they pull that off? They have so much clients that they can ask crazy rates now?
Don't get me wrong: they absolutely have the right to do that. Hell, they should, it might work! But Guys... we need to stop encouraging places like that and encouraging this behavior.
It's not complicated really, there is no scarcity in Montreal, there is no reason to support agencies that overcharge for subpar service. Making it more expensive doesn't make it more classy nor better. If I sell you a turd $1,000 dollars, it doesn't taste better than a free one.
Meanwhile, you have Unicorn Healers - i didn't try them but read plenty of good - who might charge more, but seems to offer a great service and propose something no other agency is offering at the moment. These are entrepreneurs I am tempted to support, even if it's costing me more.
I'm all for sex workers asking what they're worth and making good money, but there is no fundamental difference between this industry and other industries: we need to encourage businesses and workers who offers quality. Otherwise, if crap is for sale at crazy prices, we'll have nobody else but us to blame. Collectively, we have the power to make sure that it's fair for everyone, and it starts with you and you alone: when rates are high and quality low, don't buy, don't call, don't text, don't book. Support quality and honesty.
