This post is simply to share my experience as a novice in weight training and is for those who are in a similar situation to mine. In short, it made me feel much better. That + getting 8 hours of sleep may be just what is missing to improve your mood (and probably your sex drive, too). I simply bought two pairs of dumbbells (10 and 15 pounds), training shoes, and a gym mat. I do everything at home, following YouTube videos, 20 min at a time, two or three times a week. I work 50 hours a week adnd have no time for the gym. There is a lot you can do at home with dumbbells (again, see YouTube) My goal is simply to feel better and to gain a bit of muscle mass (I was slim to start with and I am already seeing good results!). For those who are a bit older, it helps prevent age-related muscle mass loss. Take it from a total neophyte in this area who has been doing it for one month: it's worth it.

Have you checked out Thenx and Chris Heria on YouTube yet? He has some really great content for at home workouts. No need to download his app, his vids are good enough.

Broly Gainz. He can be found on YouTube.

Doooo Deeeez!

LOL.

His sometimes 10 to 15 minutes calisthenics workouts are going to tap you out.

Or you can get the Nike Training App, Puma and/or Adidas app.

If you live or are in Montreal drop by Report Fitness. Their 30 minutes classes are the most quick ass kicking efficient classes I have come across.

One thing I'd like to add: as someone who is often anxious before a session, working out an hour before really calms the stress hormones down. Enjoyment and performance go up.

For those over 40 check out Blue Star Nutraceuticals on youtube. They have very effective workout routines that will keep you in the game. Tried a few of those workouts and you are fired up. Some only need a dumbbell and a kettlebel. That’s it.

I got into crossfit training since 3 years. I thought I would die first 6 months…
Then I got use to it and I since feel great. I find it more complete training than only lifting weights. It take less time and it’s fun to learn movement techniques with bar and else.

That used to be my routine also. Hit the hotel gym in the morning & see an sp in the afternoon or hit the gym in the afternoon & see an sp in the evening.

Back in my last very active phase (2011-2015) as a hobbyist i’d work out 5 out of 7 days & i got so into it that i decided to build my own gym in my basement. Today i look back at pictures of myself back then & it’s hard to believe how fit & muscular i was back then. I haven’t worked out in 5 years & even though i’d like to get back to a regular workout routine the long layoff makes it more & more difficult to find the motivation to do so!

Not only that Crossfit is a community so you will meet some really cool people. I made a good amount of friends when doing Crossfit. Well not much Crossfit but my Crossfit box also run HIIT classes each week and I attend mostly those. An added plus is that it is pretty hard to make and maintain friendships when you are an adult. Consistently going to the same Crossfit box or two you are going to meet some familiar faces and in time you develop a camaraderie.

Nice positive post. The fact I see strippers and escorts motivates me to keep in shape with a good diet out of respect for the girls I see. Plus exercise keeps the body "tighter" for a more pleasurable experience. If it were not for sex workers I would sadly loose a lot of motivation to keep in shape.

Very true. Years ago sps used to compliment me on my shape & stamina. I used to have a firm, hard body & whenever i’d get complimented about it it would motivate me to maintain my workouts & i noticed working out regularly with either weights or cardio equipment would increase my libido. It would cause my testosterone levels to raise. One thing that i could have improved on was my diet. But when i felt i was eating wrong or too much i’d try to compensate by increasing the intensity of my workouts whenever i’d be in Mtl. Same thing with drinking. I never drank much in my personal life but i used to take advantage of my time in Mtl by partying a bit too much during my trips. I figured i was in Mtl for a great time so why not over-indulge while i’m in town? Then when i’d be back home it would be back to my boring life & back to working out in my gym looking forward to my next trip.

Also having a strong fit physique with good stamina you get your money’s worth in the experience. Not about SOGs but you don’t tire out. You have the slow and control throughout the whole encounter from the moment she walks into your room to the time she picks up the envelope at the end. You are present. With that if the YMMV is there you are going to get your mileage.

One day at a time my friend.
Every day you will be able to do a bit more. It will also build up your confidence and motivate you .

Unless you get heavier weights or join a gym, your strength is going to eclipse those weights soon (if it hasn't already). Or, you'll have to add more and more reps for each exercise which will mean more time. The body acclimates pretty quickly. Plus, for a slow twitch fiber/stamina muscle like your legs, 10-15 lbs. won't make you sore for long (if you work your legs that is, which you should do for balance sake and not looking weird).

But kudos for starting. I added weights to my cardio routine about a decade ago and now I can't live without it. Weights bust up tension and stress for me more than running does. But while any exercise is better than no exercise, anaerobic exercise (high intensity exercise with breaks in between, such as lifting weights) doesn't work your heart as well as cardio (sustained exercise for 20-30 minutes or more). Not only will you be healthier, but you'll look even better if you combine cardio with weight training days.
