Hello,

I was just wondering how often you (as a hobbiest) go to get tested for STDs?

Now I've searched Merb for a previously topic on the matter, and while the information is "limited", it seems like that many hobbiest just rely on the agency or more specifically the escort to get tested and hope for the best.

It's not that I don't trust you to carefully monitor your sexual partners, but I myself have been to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Czech Republic as well as around Europe, Eastern Europe and Africa in addition to Canada.

How do you know that I didn't bring something back with me?

I myself recently just got tested for any STD's and it was free to do so. All it took was a few hours.

More information about STD testing in your area can be found using your local search engine.

CWipes,

I don't think you'll get a lot of info from the hobbiests here. It seems to be a touchy subject here...

Do you think there's a negative image of getting tested?

Thanks for your responses.

Do you think in our society there is a negative image of getting tested or do you think it's something else?

I believe that people (including myself) who engage in such a risky hobby should get tested frequently, but in reality many people choose to ostracize this by not getting tested.

Do you think if testing was promoted as a more positive experience more people would get tested, and if so how should it be promoted?

My hope is that this post can be used to promote a safer hobby by providing some useful information on getting tested as frequently as necessary, and thereby a safer hobby for me and you.

By the way, not only is testing free in most cases, they also have condoms and lube available for free.

Of course it's a touchy subject. This thread is sort of like going into an airport and talking about airliner crashes. It's a very small risk we (and the SPs, too) take, but do we really want to chat about it here?

Oliver, I think you know exactly what I'm talking about. He doesn't want any stupid links. He wants feedback from the real people. He wants to know if someone here ever caught anything in this hobby, if it's frequent in the business, what was the circumstance... Let's face it, there has to be someone who caught something or else we wouldn't be hearing so much about STDs from the health specialists.

To be honnest, I sure would like to know myself these things but as I wrote before, it's a touchy subject here. Nobody wants to really believe it could happen to them.

Cwipes, is your question part of a survey/paper for your school? What is your agenda?

My main purpose in starting this topic is to not to catch anything, and trying to figure out how often other hobbiest get checked for STD.

Really, I'm trying to encourage other hobbiest to get checked for STD as I believe knowing is better then not knowing. I'd like to believe that this post will encourage at least one hobbiest (but as many as possible) to not be afraid of getting tested. Makes it "safer" for everyone in the hobby.

On a side note, if this board is monitored by LE, (Hi LE!), I believe this post can be seen as constructive to the hobby.

babefreak,

I have been on the Boards many years and there have been literally dozens of threads on this board, the other board and TBD on STDs. An overwhelming number of these threads were started by individuals who sought to advance specific agendas, sought to ruin certain agencies or SPs, or were started by individuals whose paranoia level was on the high side. For these reasons, STD threads have generally been not very intelligent and have frequently deteriorated into something other than intelligent or scientific discourse.

I don`t think an Escort Review Board is the appropriate place to be preaching about getting tested for STDs. Most of the people here understand the level of risk involved and they choose how they want to approach it. Unfortunately, my sense in some of the threads that were created recently were that they were agendas for SPs with very safe practices to ``scare`` Board members into only seeing safe service SPs, who generally are not as busy as ``liberal`` SPs. Such threads were very poorly received, for reasons that should be obvious.

There is an analogy here to think about. There is a level of risk involved in flying a plane or driving a car. Chances of you dying in a car are a lot higher than dying from a . But do any of you go to the various auto makers websites and try to start threads warning of the dangers of driving cars? Why not? How would such threads be received?

Apply the same logic to many other activities.

If Escort Review Board is the not the appropriate place to bring this up then where? MERB, PERB, TERB, etc., are the prime locations for information on this particular hobby.

More over my intention is not to scare anyone or to ``Preach``, more to enlighten. I enjoy this hobby, just ask Peter at Satin Dreams or Sam @ Prime Time, or Chris at Devilish or almost anyone at Kama Massage...

By the way, car companies initally didn`t like seat belts in cars as they thought they made their vehicles seem unsafe. Now a days every car comes with an air bag & anti-lock brakes, and Consumer Reports conducts safety ratings for every car that`s built. Also you periodically service your vehicle and when there`s a major problem with your vehicle there is a factory recall. You can`t really do that with an STD which is why I`m saying you stop in for a free ``tune/check up``.

CWipes,

Most people on this Board are not medical professionals, and have very little education and training in the sciences necessary to form meaningful opinions on STDs. Most of the threads on STDs on the Boards over the years were receptacles for amazing ignorance, moronhood and stupidity.

If anyone is concerned about STDs, they should speak to their doctor, or go to the clinic Oliver provided a link to. They should not come to this Board for advice. This is a Board for advice on escorts.

So we can talk about hotels, and restaurants in the Lounge Area but not STDs.

I'm also not a medical professional, but I do understand the importance of getting tested for STD's. I'm also not asking anyone to announce that they have an STD. I'm just wondering how many people in this hobby get tested.

EagerBeaver, you seem fairly intellegent, don't you think it's time for a post that perhaps is not a receptacle for amazing ignorance, moronhood and stupidity...

How far do you drive your car before you get it serviced?

That is to say,

Do you go to get yourself checked for STDs?

I do.

Hello EB,

But if you dont mind a slight correction...I actually think of myself as an over-educated imbecile. However, moron is not bad. Luv ya big guy.

Korbel,

I was not specifically referring to your posts.:p However, if you feel that the shoes fits, you have my permission to kick yourself with it.:p

CWipes,

Yes I have been tested. However what I do or don't do, as far as testing, and how regularly, is really irrelevant. Everyone should make their own personal choice as to what they should do after consulation with a trained medical professional - not after reading yours posts in this thread, or mine for that matter. MERB threads cannot dictate what someone's course of action should be.

who, what, when, where's the clinic?

I've never taken a std test before and now that I've been "hobbying" I really think I should go and take one. The only thing is I don't know where to start and who to ask so I'm hoping someone here can give a few tips? Can I just walk into any CLSC around Montreal and say, "I want to be tested?" Or is there a better way to do this. I live in the downtown/CDN area so can someone suggest a good place? Does it cost anything? One of the reasons I want to go is because after I finished having sex with my gf, I noticed she bled a little, but it was no where near the time of the month, and I remember reading one of the std symptoms for females similar to what happened. At this point I'm pretty much so stressed out and don't know what to do. All I know is I want to get tested. Someone....anyone......HELP!!!!

also, yungone, in case you're not aware, you can get vaccinations for Hepatitis A and B, so you may as well request those while you're at the clinic.

OMG relax dude... your gf bleeding is no indication of anything whatsoever... I think you need to get informed cuz you're getting a bit paranoid here (shit i thought they were having sexual education in school now :D - Don't waste your time on the Internet - Just to to a clinic such as l'actuel and get tested for everything first (yes, including hiv) then wear protection every time after. Get re-tested again once a year. Its as simple as this. If you do this you will never have to worry again cand continue enjoy Life :)

I'll show, if you show...

Going under the assumption that most escorts get tested approximately 3 months, would it be inappropriate to have them carry their tests with them when they go out or at least have a recent test with them when they begin employment with an agency?

What documentation do agency's request or require in terms when beginning employment?

I'm perfectly fine with showing my test to an escort that shows me hers.
