If she plays like she did in the 3rd set against Kontaveit, I would agree. Most of the top players have not faced her much, and the ones who gave her trouble in the past, like Osaka, are out. I would worry if I were her about Coco Gauff, who has beaten her and is ready to breakout soon. Gauff plays Madison Keys today in what should be a good match. Gauff, like Serena, also has the potential to win this tournament although she has not won a major, yet. However it looks like they are on the same side of the draw so that Serena would get Gauff in the semifinals if both keep winning. Which is too bad because a Serena-Coco final would be awesome, 18 years old vs. 42 would be classic new vs. old stars

NADAL NADAL NADAL....after first set...i was not sure at all....he played his worst set ever :( losing 6-2....played very very poorly.....BUT NADAL IS NADAL....bounces back to win 3 sets in a row....:):):)..on his way/third round.

ALCARAZ---SINNER.....keep an eye on both ;)....and RUBLEV did the same.

SWIATEK----BENCIC---PEGULA---SABALENKA all on her way.....interesting too.:)

-NOTE....would b great to see/final MEDVEDEV---NADAL and SERENA---SWIATEK.....:):):)

SERENA----Great moment of tennis....she fought 3h15 yesterday.....she gave her best.,.BUT....so RESPECT for a true/unique LEGEND.

And what about COCO....wow...very impressive......she improved a lot....beaucoup de caractère.....and GARCIA /SAMSONOVA.....both on fire lately.....powerful hitters.......plus SWIATEK #1......great great tennis in front of us.....sans oublier BENCIC....place to the new generation. :)

Watching Kyrgios-Medvedev, now in a 1st set tiebreak. Medvedev actually forgot to change sides things got so intense. Kyrgios was eating something between games (a banana?) Anyway Kyrgios is a wildly talented player (talent level above his ranking) but also erratic. But he took the tiebreak.

Kyrgios has a brilliant 130 mph serve, a power forehand, a funky slice forehand, a two handed backhand, a slice backhand, and can very effectively drop-shot with great touch. He beat Medvedev twice in the tiebreak with astounding drop shots. Those drop shots won the tiebreak! And he also can serve and volley and hits excellent volleys. But he also nets too many shots unforced, freaks out when he does, and to me he looks like he needs to calm down a lot and is too intense. My opinion, he is better than his ranking and he needs a difference maker type coach and he will win majors. He needs to play more consistent and relax when he misses a makeable shot. When he learns to do that he has the talent to win a major.

Absolutely!! He can definitely win it and beat any of those guys.......

We are FINALLY seeing the future of tennis in this tournament. The Big 3 may not win another major. They are old, injured and/or unvaccinated. Tennis now belongs to the group mentioned above, and yes including Kyrgios!

Danielle Collins has taken the first set from the Amazonian Belarusian, Sabalenka. Collins is bidding to join fellow Americans Gauff and Pegula (granddaughter of the Bills owner) in the quarterfinals. Collins is a 2 time NCAA champion and one of the bigger hitters on the women's tour. Iva Swiatek commented, "nobody I have played hits the ball harder." With Cilic knocked out last night by Alcaraz, there are no major champions left in the draw. There will be a 1st time US Open and 1st time Major Champion crowned this week! Who will it be?????????

Not easy......with ALCARAZ---RUBLEV---SINNER---KYRGIOS and even RUUD .....and yes ALCARAZ --RUUD could win and b our new # 1....next week....wow....yep....place to the new generation...face of tennis is changing...and that"s great,

Same with the women......SWIATEK----GAUFF-GARCIA--PUGULA--SABALENKA---COLLINS.....great too....

And we have to give serious look to TIAFOE who played un match remarquable vs NADAL.....his best ever.........future of tennis is in good hands... :)
