I am not religious but can’t agree with this common believe about religion. You can use religion in both ways: to kill and to heal and yes, people use religion often to justify the killing, but the real driving force even if it is subconscious usually is not in the realm of religion. Do you think atheists would have any difficulties to justify wars, genocide if they want to? They will come with other pseudo religious or even “scientific” theories. We have seen plenty of this in our recent history. Read Jonathan Swift what reason can be used to wage a war.

Another great point. I will list a few murdering atheists:

Stalin - Stalin the Atheist had no problem killing millions between his various purges, political killings, starvation of the 5 million Ukrainians alone in the 30's etc...I think he is responsible for the deaths of 30 million. Of course this doesn't count the murder of 10 million in his own military and 15 million civilians because of his unpreparedness in WWII. This was due to neglect, incompetence, purging his best generals prior to WWII, and his trust of Hitler of whom he signed a non-aggression pact with in the late 30's. If it weren't for the Arsenal of Democracy (the United States for you leftists) and a few bad moves by Hitler the Russians would be eating sausage and drinking beer.
Mao Tse Tung - the other great Atheists - was responsible for the deaths of 50 million.
Of course it can be argued that in the case of these two demigods they set themselves up as their own religion.

Religion is bullshit my friend but I am not an atheist either. I believe in the gods/god/he/she/it ... But I believe that whatever the gods/god/he/she/it may be, it is much too intelligent for us to understand let alone pen a book about it.

I am more or less Agnostic. God may exist but humans on this earth cannot possibly understand, or 'minister' to me and science, well science is always good. That is how our species (on this earth) keeps itself alive.

I will never respect a religious fanatic I do not care what they are; from the Jew to the Hindu it's all poppycock.

If these lone wolfs continue to use such terror tactics, we may have to deploy police or soldier shop shooters at these public events. Shoot to kill first must then be the SOP!

If true, I'm glad the Berlin terrorist was killed by the police.

Rue Sainte-Catherine in downtown Montreal is such a soft target with so many people going about their business daily that I hope the Mounties have sharp shooters deployed to defend the public against such possible terror attacks. Heck, whenever I'm in Montreal, I stroll along this street several times a day.

There are 2 things that protect pedestrians on St. Catherine, one is parked cars on both sides of the street, which would effectively block any vehicles from careening off the road unimpeded into pedestrians, second is it's unlikely during the busiest times of the day and night any vehicle could gather sufficient speed as in the Berlin and Nice attacks, because of all the traffic.

St. Paul in Old Montreal would have been a better target a year or two ago, but now it is so dug up with construction that the terrorist would drive into a ditch and disable his vehicle before killing anyone.

The Times Square area in New York City possibly a lot more vulnerable.

A cable news channel reported that ISIS had submitted video of the Berlin terrorist training with or fighting for ISIS in the Middle East. I did not see the video.

I concur completely. And the various construction related detours would reduce the risks. But it's still a soft target. And if I were the police chief of Montreal, I would have in place a quick response team to deal with potential threats like the ones that materialized in Nice and Berlin.

Yes, but the last time I was in Times Square (which was a couple of years ago), steel bars have been installed at street corners to reduce such risks and I think there's been a police substation in TS for years. Police officers that patrol that area have more robust fire arms that are more likely to shoot and kill the bad guys inside any vehicles. But it's still a soft target because of the tremendous number of pedestrians in the area.
