Who knows
À few years ago I got involved with women whose ex was a drug dealer (I did not know that at that time).

This guy had clients that were engineers/techs at a well known communications company. So he had easy access to data and used that access to get his ex girl friends cell number and even positional data. Got very scary very rapidly.

He is in jail, for other reasons now.

The security is obviously a concern and I can totally understand that. And this issue should be solved by the SP and not by the hobbyist. There are plenty of ways to solve it without giving a headache for the hobbyist. SP can ask for MERB user handle or ask a referral from the different MERB user for example.

Really, I think that with a well known agency you don't risk anything by using your real phone number. They don't have any interest in using it for something else!

Hey, Rosie Sparkles. Your face is blurred in every picture and you are using a fake name.
Really, I think that with well-known clients you don’t risk anything by providing your real name and face pics. :D
So why don't you practice what you preach?

So do you guys all use your real phone numbers? I really can’t, I have a work phone and it’s just not worth it. Some providers don’t seem to mind at all and I’ve had no issues booking. Others flat out refuse. Any suggestions? Of course the agency can do what they want, I’m just wondering if you guys have come up with any workarounds.

Cheers,
Jerry

I use my own cell and also an app depending on the person. Plus I feel people can not tell its an app unless they call and get a missed call (i assume). Just use an app and be sure to get a 514 or 438 area code and you should be fine.

Or you can buy a cheap burner.

it's pretty easy to check online if a number is from one of the major carriers or from an app. Agencies are becoming more and more careful checking the numbers contacting them and I believe most indies advertising here won't take bookings coming from apps. Girls advertising on Leolist, Humpchies, probably another story. Cheap burner is the way to go imo; that's what i do

I use Line2. It shows up as a real # because I purchased a specific phone number and had the number ported.

Only time I ever had a problem with it was with XO, for some reason they thought it was an app number (which it is not). In that case I just called from my hotel and straightened it out.

Also, if your from the states sometimes the data is really slow and you may miss calls or drop calls using an app.

But I agree with the above, burner phone is the way to go.

Alright, so let’s say I go with the burner phone. Isn’t it the same thing as a text app at that point?

when the number calling is from a known carrier, i believe most agencies and indies take this as a clue that whoever is calling, poses less risk as a client. That you're calling from a burner phone, they won't necessarily know

an app number gives the impression right off the bat that the client is trying to hide something and that looks sketchy. Is the call coming from a time waster? A violent creep who doesn't' want to be traced? those kinds of questions will inevitably spring to mind

Rather than bother trying to screen more closely the client when a call comes from an app, it's just easier to reject those calls. For a popular agency like XO, they know there's somebody else who will call anyway. For indies like the ones on merb, i believe most will say it's not worth taking chances on a client who's contacting them with a sketchy app

Such a double standard. Almost all girls on those sites like Leolist and Humchies are using text apps and most Indys on Merb are also advertising using text apps. and to add almost 99% of ads on Leolist and Humchies girls put fake pictures. I do the same I check if the number belongs to a phone app or not. If it does I skip it. The girls should start to have a work burner phone also. I find girls using phone apps is too sketchy and they are hiding something.

It's not a double standard.

Show me the link to reviews about you, cloud? You may not be the best example because you have an online presence, but most clients don't, so we have no idea if the person we're talking to are serious/safe.

(I mean, though, I actually would accept a booking from a fake number if it's someone who has an online presence, like you on here or some of my twitter clients. But if a guy has no online presence at all, then I require a real phone number or a reference most of the time if they use a fake number).

You can screen a girl before you meet her just reading her reviews. We don't have anything about you. Asking for a real number is like the most minimal screening lol.

We pay hundreds of dollars in cabs for outcalls to people who don't even live at the address they give us. We get stolen from, beaten up, threatened at gun point from guys using text apps. A young woman was abused so violently by a client in the last year that she can't ever have kids, had to have surgery and out herself to her parents because of circumstances. Sex workers are being murdered out here, from guys using text apps, but you're out here worrying about what, ''[FONT=&quot]YeAh BuT I'm mArriEd aNd I havE a buSinEsS And u Use an aPp TOo'' ? Yes. Burner phones cost a little more and it’s more involved to pick one up, but they are basically the same thing.

How is it not a double standard? Please do explain. It is a double standard because it is different rules for the escorts and different rules for the clients. You seem to think that most girls got reviews. Let me hint you on this one. Merb represents a very small portion of the industry. Most escorts do not post on Merb. Yes I do have an online presence due to Merb and so do you and if I decided to book an Indy I would be okay with a text app as you would be okay if I used a phone app to book you. But if I tried to book you I would not feel the need to use a phone app as per your reviews. But if I go on Humchies or Leolist most of the girls are using fake pictures and text apps. Most got no reviews. So yes I am going to look out for my best interests. I do not use Merb much I strictly have stripper take outs so yes if a stripper gives me a phone app I am doing to skip her. You got to think of it from both sides not just yours. I seen your ads on those types of sites but you are like one in thousands of ads using real pictures and with reviews on Merb. But most clients are not on Merb and do not know even if it exists. What reference to they have to assure their own protection? Escorts need to be safe as much as clients do. We both are human beings.

You can screen a girl before you meet her just reading her reviews. We don't have anything about you. Asking for a real number is like the most minimal screening lol.

Yes that is pretty much what I said. I personally would never accept a girl who gives me a phone app number. Unless she is an Indy from Merb with reviews then I can accept. But most girls are not on Merb and got no reviews. And in this case this since I do strictly stripper take out I cannot accept text apps either. Believe me I screen them big time before I do a booking. Lol

Clients also use their hard earned money to move to have some fun only to be cheated or worse. Do not tell me that clients were not threatened at gun point or beaten up. How many times I read reviews on this board of a nearly violent experience? Clients have also been killed. These things can happen both ways. Point is both parties got to look out for themselves and you got to understand that.

I’m not reading your BS because you never want to understand what people tell you anyways. I stopped reading after « every girl got reviews ». Of course not, your job is to see those who do. Also the reason why I talked about online presence : a client using a text app and having no online presence is the same as a girl without reviews.

No you basically skimmed through what I wrote so it seems you are the one who refuse to understand. You just do not like the fact that I am calling you out on this one that is a double standard. Like it or not. The same rules got to apply for both parties not just one. You also keep on talking about reviews... You like some others here are stuck in Merb culture. The whole business does not revolve around Merb. Merb represents a small portion of the entire business. If you bothered to read what I wrote you would not have wrote this nonsense. I talk about when booking out of Merb. Forget about Merb because Merb represents a very small portion of the whole business so it is mostly all irrelevant.

Who knows
I really don’t see what the problem is here, if you want to see Julia used your regular SP phone. If you are too paranoïde and insiste on using a text app, then you will not see Julia... it’s her choice and that is that.
No argument here, that is the way it is.
99% of all SP’s in the montreal region will répond to text apps and give you a rdv.

I'm definitely not stuck in merb culture... I'm an escort and I advertise on so many different sites, I would know. Lol. I guess it is a double standard but for good reasons as Sam said.

You know, I had not read your post at all, I had stopped after you said ''You seem to think that most girls got reviews. Let me hint you on this one. Merb represents a very small portion of the industry.'' because, well, rude. I'm an escort. I basically know this even more than you. I'm the one doing the job, advertising, and asking her clients where they found me, so don't be so bold. I'm not a hobbyist, I'm an escort this is my job so clearly I know more than you seem to think I do.

But since I hadn't read your post, I have to apologize, because I just read it and I kinda agree. We both agree that someone with an online presence and/or reviews is different as it feels safe enough to accept booking from a text app number. That was my point (regarding you refusing to book a girl using an app...). Have a nice day.

Well for me merb is 99% of the hobby ;) The remaining 1% is twitter. I see no point in going on low end classified site when i can call Sam or James and have a great time for 220(mostly :p) Im guessing those classified site are good for guys who saw everybody in every agencies or merb indies and are kinda bored, but then if they have that much money then they should avoid the low end side entirely... :/

Ok ok i know different strokes for different folks, i don't presume to know why you hobby the way you do, surely you have your reasons to hobby outside of merb. Personally its a risk i am not willing to take.

I got kind of amused a few weeks ago in another thread where a regular poster didn’t seem to like my comment that the thorough screening process that is part of the upper-end U.S. escort scene likely provides a greater relative safety for U.S. escorts than many of their Canadian sisters.

Think this was me. Well like i said many times i don't have a problem to be verified by my online identity or by a reference (tough i see indies so rarely it wouldn't be in the "last 6 months" lol) but i am against going "too personal" with full name and especially job place and other very personal stuff. I even saw some peoples mentioning a photocopy of the passport or driving liscence... yes suuuuuure, what else, my bank account number? lol
