Tonight there was a pre-Mundial feeling in the air. The crowd at the Big O was huge : almost 48,000 peopel were there to acclaim one of the best sport team in the world and one of the best soccer players.

Ronaldinho was the main attraction. He received a big ovation whe he came on the field. He greeted the crowd and he was simling a lot. After the warm up he threw his jersey into the crowd. He scored a goal after a penalty. As usual his technique was flawless. It was also nice to see Pato and Seedorf. The second half was a little bit boring because the Impact did not really threathened the AC Milan's goaler Colombo.

It was really a big party. I saw a lot of jersey from all around the world. Naturally, several AC Milan jerseys and Brazilian seleção jerseys with (former) Ronaldinho number on it. There were connaisseurs in the crowd because three group of people recognized my Corinthians São Paulo jersey. I had fun.

Silyl question but

Does anyone know if this game was televised?

This is not a silly question at all.
I think it was aired (the same day) at Radio-Canada at 11h30pm.

As you may already know Les Bleus were involved last month in a prostitution scandal implying minors. Ribery was among the guilty sinners. This ist not the team when Michel Platini was playing for them or - a long time ago - when Just Fontaine was a national hero. France national team is far from by among the favorite this year (and I won't complain about that!)

Well... I know about the allegations but as far as I know not all the guys have been found guilty, not even one yet (still as far as I know). I have no indulgence if the crime was confirmed, but as long as it is not, I am not someone who condamn in advance even if sometimes the temptation is great... In a very different domain I have been accused myself by someone who wanted to put me into trouble, and believe me, it is very revolting being falsely accused... and being condamned in advance is also very revolting.... especially if you are not guilty lol... In my case I have been innocented from all the allegations and the guy had to pay some penalties.... but this never remove the pain you have to endure when falsely accused... SO wait and see... do not judge people before Justice does....

There was a game this morning in Johannesburg between the Brazilians players (firm team) and the reservists. Gomes was the goaler of the firm team and he committed an error. That explains why the final score was 1 - 0 to the advantage of the reservist team.
Grafite scored the goal.
Tomorrow the team will fly to Tanzania where they will play an amical game Monday.

Júlio Cesar didn't play this morning because he is sightlly injuried (back muscular problems)

What is even worst is that lately Kaká is not playing is best footbal; he had problems to complete his passes to Luís Fabiano.

I do not think Brazil will do well this year, can`t figure out how they left out Ronaldinho from thier squad,i believe thier coach Dunga will get hell for this once the WC is over.

The inaugural World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930, ... France and Mexico played in the first-ever World Cup game on July 13, with the French emerging 4-1 ...Hope one day Uruguay gets the chance of holding the games again in South America and hope Uruguay plays in final, hope they do well this time around.

I quess that Brazil won't be the nightmare of Holland or Spain. These two teams are probably the best. But as I wrote earlier, I'll wait for the first round to do my pronostic.

Talking of nightmare, do you remember that famous Guaraná Antartica pub where Maradona see himself in the Brazilian team. He wakes up and shout ¡ Ay caramba! ¡ Que pesadelo! Shit what a nighrmare !

Who Is Going To Win?

So who do the experts think is going to win? Yesterday I met with a Brazillian SP in New York City and we discussed the World Cup. She is excited about the Brazilian team. However, it seems like the Brazilian team is not as strong as in past years, and some of the other top teams like England and Netherlands have injury issues.

One team that has been mentioned as a rising power is Korea. They have been the dominant team in Asia since 2000. They have not really done anything in the WC, however, and that could change this year.

I am thinking that the USA might be good enough to make the quarterfinals. Anything after that would be gravy. It would be so sweet if they can beat the banged up English team in their opener.

I heard that Maradona has vowed that he will walk down a street in Buenos Aires nude if Argentina wins. You gotta love the passion of that guy. If I root for anyone to win other than the USA it is probably Argentina so we can watch Maradona make good on his promise.

EB,

A Brazuca SP in NY, you're a lucky man! ;)

I concord. In fact the Brasileira seleção said that North Korea will be their toughest opponent in the first round. They don't fear Portugal and Ivory Coast as much as they fear North Corea. The game Brazil/ North Korea is scheduled June 15th.

protagoras,

I read in the newspaper this morning that the oddsmaker have installed the following as favorites:

4-1 Spain
4-1 Brazil
6-1 Argentina
8-1 England
8-1 Netherlands

Everyone stay tuned for the England-USA game on June 12. Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez are playing out of their minds for the USA, after both were not even expected to make the team. Right now Buddle and Gomez are the 2 best players on the USA team.

Netherlands best player, Robben, is injured and there are very few chances that he will play... I believe hot teams will be : Spain, Italy, Brazil... maybe England but they are usually loosers in big tournaments... Germany will be a tough team, as always, but no better than semi finale... France will not pass the first round : Uruguay and Mexico are better teams...

Robben out : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcI2Rx7zgC0
Drogba out too : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFnAaJ3BwaQ&NR=1
