Has the Cleopatra cafe thread been deleted today or am I just dreaming? This is the most popular thread on MERB (and it was the most popular thread on the blue board as well). It would be a shame to delete it and a lack of respect for all those who have contributed to it over this past decade.

Did they finally get closed down? I was at a show last week across the street at Club Soda and the front signage was all covered up. Have they been given a closing date yet?
The sign has been covered for a few weeks now, but they are still open. Judging by the attendance last week, I don't think that they will be closing soon. Add to that Bill C36. Horny clients and needy escorts will have no escape, but to resort to strip clubs. Unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I can see coming out of Bill C36!

The Cleo's thread has been started by belikemike in 2003. I have discovered the club thanks to this thread as I would have never dared to step in the sleezy-looking place that is called Cléo's. Years later, Chef/Foodie suggested to one of the Mods at that time to change the thread's owner in order to avoid an accidental deletion of all the posts if ever Belikemike decides to leave the community. Belikemike is still an active member here, though I think that changing the thread owner was a wise decision. Ownership was switched to Merbadmin, who is Fred, I guess.
I think that the deletion was accidental, and I am pretty sure that Fred has a database backup.
This also brings another topic to the surface. There are some high profile threads on MERB (the movies thread and the restaurants thread, to name a few). I think that the ownership of such threads should be transferred back to MERB. We already lost a promising thread a few months ago because the thread starter decided to turn the page. Turning the page is the right of any member here on MERB, I have once asked Mod7 to delete all my posts. However, it is not fair for the rest of the members to see the numerous hours/days they spent contributing to a thread disappear in a flush.
An answer from Fred would not hurt. Two strip club threads (at least) have disappeared overnight. Are these threads recoverable or not? Please give us an explanation, it's been over a week now. If you just don't care, please say it as well.
The thread belonged to merb administrator, but as I said fuck it. There are other reviews over there of Cleo's on the Internet.
I respectfully disagree. The thread belongs to all those who contributed. An explaination should be given otherwise what is the purpose of contributing if it can disappear in a snap.
I hope we will hear from Fred soon about what happened. Otherwise, this board is useless.
