Hello Special K,

How how does the "level of comfort in living" clause match up with his projected $495.45million earnings? Isn't "comfort" based on current projected earnings? I might call A-Rod's current level Prince of Monaco comfort. Is that what his wife might expect?

Hmmm,

Looks like the Yankees have found themselves a gem by the name of Sir Sidney Ponson, comeback player of the year?.

There is a rumour that someone had to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on Theo last week while he was having dinner, the rumour has it that he was choking while he was eating Colon's $1.5 million dollar contract.:D

Yes, he's been fabulous. He's even won a game.

Actually, Joe, you fucking moron®, with 4 wins under his belt in 6 starts, if Colon never throws another pitch, he will have been a bargain.

Hey Josey,

So $1.5 for four wins versus $18-25 million for six wins...LOL! That's about $375,000 per win versus $3-4 million per win...RIGHT Josey...:D.

Bronx cheers,

Korbel

Actually, that was AAA, you fucking moron®, where he had an ERA under 2.50, but being a Yankee fan, you wouldn't understand ERAs under 2.50.

Great weekend by the Blue Jays!!

Been watching some pitching gems from Halliday & Burnette during my weekend stay in Toronto. They beat the Yankees 4-1 today in a masterful performance by AJ, who was pitching on only 3-days rest for the first time in his career. Even better, i got to admire the two beautiful blonds next to me in the premium seating behind home plate. Whew!

Ate a great hotdog purchased from one of the dozens of vendors located around the stadium prior to the game. Why aren't there any such hotdog vendors in Montreal? I think they'd make a fortune during the summer, especially if they'd park themselves in Old Mtl. Watching Brad Wilkerson patrol centerfield made me think back of the days when i used to watch him play in an Expo uniform. I miss those days!! I'm still convinced that the Expos could have had an attendance rebirth if they would have built that open-air stadium in downtown Montreal (Labatt Stadium). Even though i'm a huge baseball fan, i hated the long subway ride to Olympic Stadium, only to watch a baseball game played indoors with the roof closed while it was sunny outside. Another thing that would have greatly helped the Expos' cause would have been if they would have been shifted to the American League East division, where they could have created a rivalry with the Boston Red Sox & New York Yankees. Many fans from the american east coast would have flocked to Mtl during their series with the Expos, just like their doing in Toronto when either the Sox or Yankees are in town. The same could have happened with the Tigers, where fans could have taken the VIA rail train to Mtl. Oh well.....wishful thinking!

Hello Doc,

That must be particularly irritating to the Yankers since they could have picked him up two or three years ago. Instead they got Clemens...bwahahaha!

Nice 1-run gem by Matsuzaka 10-1 and staff against the Orioles. With Ortiz returning soon, and the Sox reclaiming the lead in the AL East, things are very nice for Boston at the All Star break.

Oh...what was that bet Joe.t had with Vlad???? The Tankees are 6 back.

Cheers,

Korbel

Actually, there were two bets. The good news for Joe is that he didn't lost the first. It was that the Wankees would be more than 10 or less than 3 behind Boston by the All Star break.

The bad news is that he is 6 back with less than half a season to go on the second larger bet that the N.Y. Twinkies would be sucking Boston's wind at the end of the season.

Actually, the Twinkees are the Minnesota entree in the AL. The Yankees, however, trail not only the Rays, but the Twins and the Athletics in the wild card race.

Hello Boys,

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8040544?MSNHPHCP&GT1=39002

Did you see this article on the greatest moments in Yankme Stadium? Obviously, it's meant to be a sentimental, pinstripe butt kissing love fest to celebrate positive outcomes. Adding the 2004 ALCS comeback by the Red Sox, one of the most monumental moments in baseball history completed here in front of about 60,000 Stankee fans and many millions of television viewers, was just too much TRUTH to handle...clearly. If they can include "Gionfriddo robs DiMaggio" and Boon'es home run, then they have no excuse for ommitting the Sox comback.

Jeers,

Korbel

Have the impression that the article is about "moments" as opposed to games or series. Remembering the Dale Mitchell strike-out to complete the perfect game as opposed to all the details of the game, snippets of Lou Gehrig's speech "... I consider myself to be ....." as opposed to who the opposition was, a fringer - Gionfriddo robbing the great DiMaggio at a critical point in a WS game.

Red Sox Anniversary

July 21 marks the anniversary of one of the great moments in Red Sox history that is not centered around Ted Williams, losing or a rainout.

Not quite correct. There is a clear link between Pumpsie Green and losing. Had the Sox signed Jackie Robinson when they had the chance, Willie Mays when they had the chance, they likely would have been winners in that stretch between 1948-1953 when they had the strongest team "on paper" in baseball.

On July 21, 1959 Pumpsie Green made his major league debut for the Boston Red Sox thereby bringing integration full circle by making the Red Sox the last of the sixteen teams to integrate - more than 12 years after Jackie Robinson
broke the colour barrier in 1947.

Right, but my point, which you failed to understand, was that Pumpsie's delayed appearance was emblematic of the Sox' racism, which is directly linked to their failures over the last half of the last century.

The Sox had first dibs on Jackie Robinson, trying him out in April of 1945 and passing. The Sox had first dibs on Willie Mays through their working agreement with the Birmingham Black Barons. They passed on him as well.
