Looks like the Yanks have the comeback player of the year in Ponson.

Kevin Kennedy on the fox pregame show picked Johan Santana and the Mets to win and the exact opposite happened, thank you again Kevin Kennedy.

The Yankees have called up quite possibly the best kept secret in all of baseball Dave Robertson who has been pitching the lights out for Scranton, looks like the Yanks have found their middle relief weapon, the news keeps getting better and better, the icing on the cake would be Sabathia of course.:)
Hey Josey,

With his reputation it should be spelled Pioson. And talk about a "dream boy" with all this stuff that hasn't happened...lol. Oh yeah..."lights out" again...bwahahahahahahaha.

Happy psychotic episodes with Poison, ;)

Manny blows a fuse once again

Manny apologizes after shoving Red Sox official to ground

The Red Sox are confident it wasn't Manny just being Manny.

Manny Ramirez has apologized for pushing the team's traveling secretary to the ground in the visitors clubhouse during a confrontation Saturday in Houston, according to a report in The Providence Journal.

Ramirez had requested 16 tickets from Jack McCormick for Saturday's game against the Astros, the report said. After McCormick said that might not be possible, Ramirez replied by yelling, "Just do your job," according to Monday's report. Ramirez and McCormick later discussed the incident in a private meeting, during which the left fielder made amends. "That's over," Ramirez said Sunday, according to the report. "We're fine now."

Boston manager Terry Francona said the team had resolved the matter and was "satisfied with how we handled this." "Sometimes things happen," Francona said, according to The Journal. "And when they do, we choose to handle them internally." Said McCormick: "It was an unfortunate misunderstanding and it's over with as far as I'm concerned."

It wasn't the first time this season Ramirez was forced to put a sour incident behind him. Ramirez, who on May 31 became the 24th major leaguer to hit 500 home runs, had to be separated from first baseman Kevin Youkilis earlier this month after apparently taking a swing at him during a dugout argument. "It's in the past," Ramirez said the next day. "It's a new day."

Is A-Rod now banging Madonna?

NEW YORK--Asked about the report in US Weekly that he had been seen making some late-night visits to Madonna's West Side apartment, Alex Rodriguez said "No comment."

Now, if these stories about him and Madonna are true - and just for the sake of conversation today, let's say Rodriguez wasn't visiting Madonna for their book club - that means he has joined another kind of list, one that in the old days was supposed to have included Jose Canseco, who has been hinting for years, without proof, that A-Rod may have had more than a passing interest in steroids.

Madonna to Canseco to A-Rod. It's not exactly Tinker-to-Evers-to-Chance, but it does show you that if A-Rod hangs around until the end of this $300 million contract, everything could be connected eventually.

CYNTHIA SHACKS UP WITH ROCKER KRAVITZ

New York Post said:
He's out at home!

Yankee superstar Alex Rodriguez's marriage is kaput, sources told The Post.

A-Rod's wife, Cynthia, has been shacked up with rocker Lenny Kravitz in Paris.

The stunning news emerged a day after revelations that Alex Rodriguez has been paying late-night visits to Madonna's Upper West Side apartment.

The game of musical celebrity beds has effectively ended the randy Rodriguez's already-shaky marriage, even though divorce papers have not been filed, sources said.

Cynthia Rodriguez, 34, has been in Paris for at least the past four days visiting Grammy-winner Kravitz.

C-Rod was seen outside the 44-year-old Kravitz's pad in the romantic City of Light as recently as Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, A-Rod has been in New York with the Bronx Bombers, reading headlines about his numerous visits to Madonna's Upper West Side apartment, which were first reported by Us Weekly on Tuesday

And now it's official..........

Yankees slugger separating from wife

NEW YORK -- Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez and his wife have split less than three months after the birth of the couple's second daughter, according to a report in the New York Daily News.

Rodriguez refused to address the topic on three occasions Tuesday, once saying "no" when asked if he had any comment.

Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner also criticized the team's lack of hitting before an 18-7 win over the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night, suggesting "a little less outside distractions and a little more concentrating" might help the team at the plate.

The Daily News reported Wednesday night, citing an anonymous source, that Rodriguez and wife, Cynthia, have separated after having "problems" for about three months.

The couple was married in November 2002 and has two children, Natasha Alexander and Ella Alexander, who was born April 21.

Rodriguez went 2-for-3 Wednesday night with his 17th homer of the season and also scored four times. It also was Rodriguez's 535th homer, moving him past Jimmie Foxx for 14th on the career list.

Looks like it's about time for the Yankees to start dumping their pending free agents for prospects. Wonder what they can get for Giambi and Pettitte?

Carsten Charles Sabathia

Scouting report-

"Sabathia has a very good 94-98 mph fastball, an excellent 10-4 slider from 84-86 mph, and an 11-5 curve from 79-82 mph. He also exhibits good command of his pitches, posting a very good 5.65 K/BB ratio."

I say give it two weeks and he's a Yankee.:)

Will it be Harden or Sabathia, it sure is going to be a tough choice for Hank.
Actually, I've been wondering what kind of prospects the Yanks are going to get for Mussina, Pettitte and Giambi.

Actually there is a rumour that a unnamed team has offered Theo a bag of maple bats guaranteed not to shatter for Hansen, Smith and Delcarmen, Theo is rumoured to have told that team that he would have to seriously think about the offer and that he will get back to them.

Hello Special K,

Yes, Mr Wizard has done it again. For a guy who believes in curses it seems he is one.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8318218/Report:-Brewers-acquire-Sabathia-from-Indians

The Brewers have won the C.C. Sabathia sweepstakes.

The Indians have agreed to trade the ace Sabathia and two lower-level minor leaguers for a package that includes top prospect Matt LaPorta and other minor leaguers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Sabathia could make his debut as early as Tuesday for the Brewers against the Rockies.

LaPorta, a right-handed slugger who is below-average defensively, would be a better fit for the American League. He was the Brewers' first-round pick in 2007, and played first base at the University of Florida, but the Brewers converted him to left field — a position occupied by Ryan Braun, who is signed through 2015.

LaPorta was not in the lineup Sunday for Huntsville's game against Birmingham. Clubs routinely sit players to avoid the risk of injury when a trade is imminent.

"It's kind of flattering to have your name brought up for one of the best pitchers in the game," LaPorta told the Huntsville Times. "There would be no hard feelings one way or another. This is a business, and I understand that."

The Indians badly need power. Center fielder Grady Sizemore leads the AL with 22 home runs, but designated hitter Travis Hafner hit only four before going on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain on May 30 and catcher Victor Martinez had zero before going on the DL June 12 with a right-elbow injury.

LaPorta has 20 home runs and 66 RBIs for Class AA Huntsville.
Sabathia rejected a $72 million, four-year extension from the Indians during spring training and announced he wouldn't negotiate any deal until after the season.

Cleveland doesn't want to see another star leave town without getting anything in return after Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez and Albert Belle all left for free agency. In 2002, the Indians traded popular starter Bartolo ColonCliff Lee, Grady Sizemore and Brandon Phillips. to Montreal for prospects
Lee is 11-1 for the Indians this season with a 2.43 ERA. Phillips is now the Cincinnati Reds' starting second baseman.

The Brewers starting pitching has been thin ever since Yovani Gallardo went on the disabled list with a torn knee ligament that required surgery. His rehab was supposed to take four months, which gives him an outside chance of returning before the end of the season.

Sheets (10-2, 2.77 ERA) is easily off to the best start of his career, but the All-Star righty is in the final year of a $38.5 million, four-year contract and hasn't wanted to talk about his upcoming free agency.

If Sabathia is acquired and both pitchers leave via free agency, the Brewers would likely receive four first-round picks as compensation. Milwaukee had six of the top 62 picks this past season after relievers Francisco Cordero and Scott Linebrink left, and has 10 All-Stars named to the Southern League game in Double-A Huntsville alone.

Milwaukee, which hasn't been in the postseason since the days of Robin Yount and Paul Molitor, fell two games short of the division title last year. The Brewers are percentage points ahead of St. Louis for the second-best record in the NL, and both teams are chasing Chicago, 3 1/2-games ahead.
The Brewers play four games at St. Louis after the All-Star break and have a four-game series against the Cubs at Miller Park at the end of July.
The Phillies, Dodgers and Rays were also bidding for Sabathia.

FOXSports.com senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Bronx cheers Josey Boy,

Stray-Rod's wife has had enough: divorce papers filed against unfaithful husband

Wife of Yankees' Alex Rodriguez files for divorce

MIAMI–Alex Rodriguez's wife filed for divorce today, calling her husband an adulterer who "emotionally abandoned his wife and children."

"The marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken because of the husband's extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct," according to Cynthia Rodriguez's petition for dissolution of marriage, filed Monday in the family division of Miami-Dade County Circuit Court.

The New York Yankees third baseman, who earned his 12th all-star selection Sunday, has refused to comment on his relationship with the pop singer Madonna, who denied any romantic involvement with the slugger in a statement posted Sunday on people.com.

"The petitioner has exhausted every effort to salvage the marriage of the parties," Cynthia Rodriguez said in the filing. "However, Alex has emotionally abandoned his wife and children and has left her with no choice but to divorce him."

The couple, who married in November 2002, have a $12-million (all figures U.S.), six-bedroom house in the upscale Miami suburb of Coral Gables. A company run by a corporation controlled by Rodriguez bought an apartment at Trump Park Avenue in Manhattan for $7.4 million in July 2005.

Cynthia Rodriguez has asked for primary custody of their two children, as well as child support and alimony. Their two daughters are Natasha Alexander, 3, and two-month-old Ella Alexander.

The filing comes just days after the third baseman was linked to Madonna in various media outlets. Cynthia Rodriguez later visited the Paris home of rocker Lenny Kravitz, who said she came to France to escape the media frenzy in New York and denied anything improper.

Cynthia Rodriguez's lawyer, Maurice Kutner, declined to elaborate on the filing, which does not mention Madonna or any other alleged paramours by name.

"Cynthia has made it very clear to me that she wants to take the high road and protect her children and herself. There's no vindictiveness here," Kutner said. "She wants to resolve the issues between Alex and herself in an amicable fashion."

The divorce petition was filed the day after Rodriguez hit his 536th homer, tying Yankees Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle for 13th on the all-time list.

Rodriguez is in the first season of a $275-million, 10-year contract with the Yankees, a deal that allows him to earn up to $305 million. He made $185.45 million from 2001-'07 from his contract with the Texas Rangers and Yankees.

Hello Doc,

Well, the woman sure knows when to make her move. Fresh adulterous links and a huge pot o' gold in his contract should make for a hefty divorce settlement. Ahhhhhhhhh, the joy of marrying a mega star and having rights to a vault of cash you did not earn. So $185.45 million plus $305 million divided by 2...hmmm...$245,225,000.

"Isn't that special",
