Now now my friend, maybe he has some Ontario ancestry and being more of a Tête Carrée is all he knows. (not that I believe all from Ontario are that way just as i do not believe the Frog thing about all my fellow peeps from Quebec, it is just for fun) BUT, I did hear his fav song was

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY-zsZugJWE

On "another" happy note, it is nice to see Mr. Non Hockey and Mr. Non Hockey 1A, who were once foes, getting along so well once again. I saw them crazy "Boyz" just a little while ago having a great time, well, one of them was, the other looked a lil "uncomfortable", here take a lookie for yourself.

p.s. This 'frog' here has gone out of his way to do his best to communicate with the anglos of this board, yet he gets ridiculed by a bunch of ignorant bigots for his efforts. Life sure ain't fair!

It was embarrassing, to say the least!

I can't say that i'm surprised. As i stated last week, the Canes showed the rest of the NHL how to beat the Bruins & teams are now lining up to face them. They're not scaring anyone & i feel for them if they have to rely on their old 37 goaltender for the rest of the season. Tukka Rask simply isn't ready to step into Tim Thomas' skates. He's a very good #2 goaltender, but that's about it.

Rask was pulled after he allowed 3 goals on only 13 shots. Thomas was slightly better, but he still let in 3 goals on 22 shots.

Expect their GM to once again press the panic button & pull off a couple of questionable trades. He mortgaged the team's future last season when he acquired Tomas Kaberle for a 1st, 2nd & top prospect (and former #1 pick) Joe Colborne, who looks like he'll be a dandy. He reminds me of a young Bobby Smith. Anyone remember him?

Yea you did, and i think it was evilethings that said that the bruins goalies would breakdown in the stretch run. Still the team to beat but i dont think they will repeat.

Rarely do teams repeat in the NHL. The Stanley Cup playoffs are the toughest post-season in all of sports. The Bruins, to their credit, played top-notch hockey for most of the season until now (okay, they had an awful start to the season). Rarely do these types of teams win the Cup. Usually, it's a middle-of-the-pack team that wins it....like the Bruins last season, who were extremely lucky to get by the habs, who took them to 7 games in their playoffs series, even though they didn't have much of a team other than a very good goaltender. Tim Thomas was the difference & deserved to win the Conn Smyth trophy as the playoffs MVP.

Not really seeing him play much, but hearing about him, Minnesota and Montreal right?

Exactly. He was a heck of a player & Joe Colborne really reminds me of him when he plays. But my guess is that Burkie may ship Colborne to another team in order to acquire a bonafide top-scoring big forward in order to help them during the playoffs.

Let me make a bold prediction:

If the Bruins don't start playing better hockey soon, the Bruins will fire head coach Claude Julien before this season's over. Cam Neely has always hated him & only kept him because the Bruins managed to win the Cup. If they had lost against Montreal, Julien would have undeservably been handed out a pink slip.

Does "bold" mean "bizarre"?

???
They are three points out of first in their conference. There isn't all that much room for improvement, but there is considerable downside if Julien is fired and the team tanks. A GM's job can be threatened if he fires a coach whose team is performing well. The ownership won't be appreciative if they get knocked out of the playoffs early due to a decision based only on personal considerations.

Let me remind everyone....

On April 2nd, 2007, the New Jersey Devils' Lou Lamoriello fired this same Claude Julien with only 3 games remaining in the regular season. At the time, the Devils had the 2nd best record in the Eastern Conference (102 points!!!) and the firing shocked everyone, including Julien himself.

Also:

In the spring of 2000, Robbie Ftorek was fired by these same Devils after 74 games. They were second in their conference with 103 pts when he got canned. Three years later, he was fired by the Boston Bruins that spring after 73 games. The Bruins had 87 points & were in third place at the time.

The coach's record isn't a guarantee that he'll keep his job. Boston has already shown they'd do it & Cam Neely hates him.

This year, we knock on the door and gain some very valuable experience for such a young team in the "second season", next year we kick the SOB in and make some noise. Possibly contending for a Cup as soon as next year and beyond.

The mentality of a loser, always saying "next year, next year, next year," bla bla bla. Almost 50 years without a win and he's still talking about "next year." Your team sucks brah.

This drunk guy has a better grip on reality than you;

Ohhh Ohhh , I know! Mats Sundin gets his number honored and hung up to the top of the beautiful ACC!

Dont ask rumps to predict the score, it would go something like this. "Tonight it will be the Montreal Expos 7 and the Toronto Marlies 3" As far as Kessel, he has been on fire lately, do you think his sticks may be stolen? GO LEAFS GO!

So? What's your prediction for tonight's big game? Do you know what's special about tonight's game between the habs & Canada's team?
Will former Bruins sensation Phil Kessel score a hat trick? Go Leafs Go! :D

Your hockey knowledge is astounding! Yes indeed, big Mats is getting his jersey retired tonight. If i'm lucky, i might just be in attendance for the big game!

As for Phil the Thrill, i do agree that his stick has been very 'hot' this season. However, i am not aware if it was stolen. Anyone?

Lots of chirping on a habs fan board I read once in awhile (for the pure laughs only, actually a buddy of mine is a member there) about them trading for Jeff Carter.... hmmmm lets see, with the management the habs have currently in place and Carters love of partying, could you not see this ending in a beautiful train wreck? Go get em habbies!!!!!!!!

You really havnt a clue. Stick to stomping the grapes and leave running the vineyard to others. :thumb:
I understand why you would say this and it doesn't have anything to do with the facts. Take any sports teams in general and look at a manager who has not been able to make his team into at least a significant threat, if not a top contender, after 4 years. Then look specifically at the key position on the hockey team and wonder why after four years that general manager has not developed or dealed for a real impact goalie. After four years the first thing any team builder should have is the right level of capability at the key position. Not having that is a major fault in any knowledgeable opinion.

Now why any individual fan should be so dedicated and worshiping of any player, coach, or manager who has not made a significant impact in his job seems nonsensical. Any fan should want better no matter who that might be, so insisting Burke should be given a 5 year contract right now either makes no sense, is a joke, or is an inexplicable devotion to mediocrity rather than the wisdom to move forward.

Whatever the case...it's Leafs fans who have to live with him.

Cheers,

Hey Boyz,

He walked to the Union Station subway station & then jumped in front of the train as it approached the platform. Guess what happened? Yep! Five hole! The train went right through his legs! So he'll be back on the bench tonight against San Jose......

Hilarious! This reminds me of the hard years with Boston teams. The best thing for sports pain is self-effacing humor. :thumb:

Burke should be given a 5 yr extension right now with the Leafs...

BTW...I'm amazed how much the regular fans actually can get access to the Stanley Cup. Three months ago one variety store owner I know put up a photo of his grandchildren posing next to the Cup in his yard with the baby girl (about 2 years old) sitting on top. Maybe you guys can get that close in your lifetime.

Here's hoping :D,

anyone who even knows a little about hockey understands why, surely merlot, i do not expect you to understand. ;)

Just can't help taking personal shots in the regular hockey thread huh.

Iggy,

All you have is this constant pouting and delusional self-superiority. I didn't try to stick it to anyone today, but obviously you are too hurt to handle things.

Happy mediocrity,

Pouting? ROFL! because I understand hockey and understand everything great that BB has done for the Leafs for years to come just as he did for VanCity? Man if thats your definition of pouting then I think you had a few bad teachers in elementary school. It is more ROFLMAO at your ineptness at what it takes to build a foundation in the NHL when the cupboards were bare, when the on ice talent inherited was like this years habs.:)lol:) And hate to tell ya lil fella but the Timmy Thomas's of the world dont just fall off your (band)Wagon like you think. Building a top Orginization, let alone a contender takes time, and as Burke stated several times, the Leafs could of made the playoffs last year, but he has a long term goal for success here, not just to make the playoffs once and then back to the way things were before he got here, meaning destroying everything he has done by giving parts away to "just" get in the playoffs so the "merlot's" of this world can say he did something within 3 years ROFL! Man you do make me laugh tho....

PS, Nashville was not a serious cup contender until last year and for 14 years have had the same GM and Coach, maybe playing in the sticks has saved their jobs right merlot? OR, and this is a much better answer, maybe just maybe they are great hockey minds and have stuck to their guns with a plan and it has paid off immensely. Go ask Edmonton why they have not won a cup yet since rebuilding for years now, what with all those #1 draft picks, i mean, according to "Merlot 101 of Hockey Excellence" they should be contending by now right? Thats just 2 great examples that you dont contend after "just a few seasons", it is not that easy and if it were then the bruins might have won a cup sooner than 39 years eh? Is it possible for a gm to come to a team and turn it around quickly? Sure it is if you actually have decent to good on ice talent and a good farm system. Thanks tho, you made my day, now i can go get some work done with a happy smile all day, CHEERS!
