Final Round Appearances By Canadian Teams in the Post-Expansion (1967) Era:
Toronto a big fat pathetic ZERO. In fact Toronto has FAILED to even MAKE the playoffs an astounding SEVENTEEN times since 67! Hopeless perennial losers!

Final Round Appearances by the Original Six in the Post Expansion (1967) Era:
Toronto the usual, expected, humiliating ZERO by Canada's National Embarrassment and the NHL's leading embarrassment.

and no playoffs for the last SIX SEASONS !! the Leafs suck ass and blow chunks !!

Compare Steve's miracles to the hopeless pathetic floundering that has been done by Brian Burke in Hogtown. Lucky for Burkie that Leaf fans aren't too bright and he can always make them drink his Kool Aid!

Burkie certainly has all the gullible Leaf fans fooled - the same cretinous Leaf followers who have also bought into Burke's false hope since assuming g.m. duties in Toronto 3 year ago.

Again, steve y took a creme puff job that had little challenge to it, he will never be a great gm until he takes a team that needs more than just signing a 41 year old goalie who had to stand on his head to even get them to the playoffs. Give any non playoff team a Vinny L, Steve S, a Marty St Louis, Ryan Malone, etc, and instantly, there a contender to turn a franchise around. Sorry cairo, it doesnt work that easily and when a creme puff job opened, the great steve y jumped, smart YES, but the challenge of turning a franchise around AND doing so defines how good a GM will be remembered by, and sorry, but steve y gets very little credit for Tampa's run this season, face the facts. Heck, even bob or mini bob gainey would of got to the finals with that team steve y inherited.

Congratulations to the great Steve Yzerman and the tradition of excellence that he developed during his two decades with the best organization in hockey, the great Detroit Red Wings.

Mr. Yzerman, as a first-year (!!!) GM, was able to mold the Tampa Bay Lightning into a team that was one of the FINAL THREE in this year's playoffs, losing by the NARROWEST of margins (1-0) in the SEVENTH game. This, remember, is team that did not even MAKE the playoffs the previous three seasons! An amazing accomplishment by the former Red Wing, who is already the second best GM in hockey! (Sorry, Steve, but you're not yet on a par with Kenny Holland - then again, the ONLY GM in history who was on a par with Kenny Holland was Sam Pollock.)

Compare Steve's miracles to the hopeless pathetic floundering that has been done by Brian Burke in Hogtown. Lucky for Burkie that Leaf fans aren't too bright and he can always make them drink his Kool Aid!

Such a hater lgna69xxx!

U got it all wrong... Burkie had a cream puff job. He basically walked into the Hky equiv of Brian Cashman's job in Toronto and has disappointed for 3 yrs!

Stevie Y set up show in TB and plugged the holes he had to - righted a sinking ship + exited the postseason after gm7 of the Eastern Conf FInals. Nice GMing.

Now if Burkie could just can his buddy Wilson, the job is 50% done in TO. Simple as that. Ask Lou L how effective a coaching change can be. :)

Can't argue with anything you wrote, but please have some sympathy for lg. It's clear that he could not understand the post he quoted, but if someone explained it to him I'm sure he would retract his response.

Originally i said Vancouver in 6, but really, it all depends on which Vancouver team and which Boston team shows up each night. Both have been up and down in the playoffs, as expected after a 6-7 game preseason, a 80 game regular season and by now over 100 games played since the season began. Talent wise, Vancouver could take this in 4 straight as clearly they have a better overall team, but ya just never know. Canucks in 6.... or less, depending.

Hello Iggy,

Many writers and analysts in New England also give an edge to the Canucks, by a slight margin. It looks like Boston will be facing the equivalent of a "better-Tampa" with much the same advantages and disadvantages. For Boston to win they will have to play a lot like game 7 of the last series, careful not to give away power play opportunities the Bruins have little or no answer against.

And thanks for staying on subject in these threads.

Cheers,

Merlot

Stamkos is a warrior for sure. Gonna be really interesting to see what he gets and term for a deal this summer as he is a RFA. If a team were to put in a offer sheet to him for say 90 Million over 10 years, what would Tampa do? No way they can afford Vinny L, Marty St. Louis, and a Steve Stamkos. Heard a rumor today that Tampa is looking at a 5 year 7 million dollar per season deal, which for a player like Stamkos, is a steal for the Lightning. Stamkos should make them pony up for at least 8 mil for 8 years, at least. He is a top 5 player in the league and top fives get 8-10 mill per.
Yes.....I wonder how Stamkos is feeling?

Stamkos showed a lot of Heart coming back into the Game.......

Hey all,

Well, the Bruins played the Canucks to a standstill until the last possible moments. It's tough to see Tim Thomas and the team stay so close for so long and still not come away with a win. This is definitely one that shouldn't have gotten away and maybe it will be critical. The Bruins did turn away 6 power plays, but failed on 6 of their own. The Bruins did a magnificent job of killing off the player advantages of a great opposing team. Unfortunately they were just as impotent in their own right with the same advantages. It all comes down to failed opportunities. As good as the Canucks are, the chances that the Bruins could come back from 0-2 are mighty slim.

Hoping,

Merlot

Gaaalllllll DAMN!

Tim Thomas has been a terrific goalie this year, but that was one of the worst goalie decisions in the history of the game. Just STUPID! With Chara right there to throw Burrows off balance there was no need to expose the goal like that.

As for Burrows, it was the Thomas mistake that cost the game. No excuses. But that biter Burrows should have been suspended one game, not playing.

This loss puts the Bruins at a huge disadvantage. What a crushing turn after such a great game.

Pffffsssst,

Merlot

Still hoping for Nucks win but Bruins will post a W next time out. No way Boston goes away in 4... not with the tight games weve seen and the shitdisturbers on the Bruins whove yet to show their skills in the Finals. Might even be a blowout in Gm3 ... in Bostons fav.

Rome ejected for hit on Horton

Monday, 06.06.2011 / 8:36 PM / 2011 Stanley Cup Final - Canucks v Bruins
Vancouver defenseman Aaron Rome was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for a hit on Boston's Nathan Horton at 5:07 of Game 3 that sent Horton to the hospital.

Horton passed the puck to Milan Lucic as he approached the blue line, and Rome stepped up for the hit, dropping the Boston forward to the ice. Rome was given a five-minute penalty for interference and a game misconduct.

The game was delayed for several minutes while medical personnel attended to Horton, who was taken off the ice on a stretcher, strapped to a backboard. The Bruins said he is moving all extremities and has been taken to Massachusette General Hospital

Rule 48 - Illegal Check to the Head

48.1 Illegal Check to the Head – A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted.

Like Don Cherry said, and btw, he is correct as usual, blame Thorton for yapping and pumping up Rome to put a hit on a bruin for the hit on Burrows by Thorton. Was it a illegal hit by Rome, yep.

It was a late hit but not a dirty hit, Horton should of kept his head up. Now, please someone take Chara's big fucking head off.

If everytime someone should be hit on the head because of yapping then Dumb*ss Cherry aka 'Bart Simpson in funny clothes' should be hit at least over 100 times till the end of the playoffs !
