Kaberle remains a puzzle in Boston

Thomas Kaberle has a been a huge bust in Boston. The fact the Bruins sent their 2011 first-round pick, a conditional 2011 pick (likely a 2nd-round pick) & their 2008 first-round pick (Joe Colborne) to obtain a 30-something one-dimensional defenceman on the last year of his contract has convinced most people around the league that Brian Burke committed highway robbery against his counterpart from the Bruins, Peter Chiarelli.

Here is the story:

Thomas Kaberle has a been a huge bust in Boston.

So what you're sayin is... Bruins made a very bad deal and even if they fucked up with Kaberle that Leafs still managed to f*cked up even more... by missing the playoffs ?

Didn't Bruins got one A+ and one B+ since the last 20years in 1st draft picks... while Leafs got one B- ?

BTW Doc. here's maybe what you're looking for... I think http://www.womenwithmustaches.com/

Hey all,

Congrats to the much improved 2010 - 2011 Leafs team on their 22nd place overall finish.
Much, much better than that 2090 - 2010 finish of 29th overall. I see great things on the horizon for this bunch!

Have fun and hoping,

Jman

Not to pick on the Leafs...again, but weren't they in 21st place three years ago. So isn't real improvement in the Burke Era still just a projection of the future, and not a fact yet.

And he still managed to get busted out the Playoffs ?
Wow ! this guy is on some serious BDSM stuff !

Bwaha! Hilarious.

And we say TY for Kessel......... I wish seguin well and hope he does well in the NHL. BTW, we ALSO say TY for Colborne, a first and a 2nd round pic for Kaberle who has not done much in 40 games with the bruins.

PS, I hope seguin keeps this up to get the bruins past the Lightning so we get that 2nd round pic! GO SEGUIN!!!!!!!!!! :thumb:

One key reason for getting Kaberle was to strengthen the Bruins power play, which has actually gotten worse since the trade.

It seems Julien's emphasis on defense has made him more reluctant than the lack of experience to play Seguin who has great speed and offensive moves. But one has to wonder the sense of leaving the young player out of the power plays when the Bruins have been so seriously lacking in scoring during such opportunities. After last night's performance with 2 goals and 2 assists Julien would be nuts to keep Seguin benched during power play opportunities if last night's game is any indication of want he can do under playoff pressure.

Still the Bruins have got to find a way to stop allowing early quick scores by the Lightning. Their strength is defense not high scoring shootouts. And what will happen when Bergeron is ready? How can they sit Seguin again, if he has any thought of it, after he has produced 3 goals and 3 assists in his first two playoff games. :noidea: Julien has some tough choices to make here to insure not only winning, but keeping his job.

Cheers,

Merlot

Yooohooo boys,

Where is everybody? Are you guys hockey lovers, or just addicted to the Leafs-Canadiens feud???

Anyway, Bruins 2 Lighting 0 in Tampa. Tim Thomas and the Bruins returned to form two nights ago, with Thomas showing why he is the Vezina Trophy favorite stopping all 31 shots. Now that Patrice Bergeron is back controlling the faceoffs to help prevent the Lightnings quick scoring opportunities (18-28), and Seguin has been added for more offensive punch, it looks like the Bruins have a great shot at taking this series, which they lead 2 games to 1, as long as they don't lose key players like Bergeron again.

Have to admit, that at this point I'm still the casual fan just hoping for the Cup. If the Bruins get to the finals, it's do or die.

Cheers,

Merlot

Are you actually watching the games? If playoff hockey, especially this series, cant change you from a casual fan to a real fan of the beautiful sport then nothing will. Go Bruins, then a nice sweep of the Canucks would be great.

What a choke job today by the boston team, up 3-0 and lost it 5-3. Kaberle was once again the goat as his misfortunes continue.... At this point, i would NOT be surprised if the bruins walk away from Kaberle this offseason, but in a way they almost have to resign him or they concede they gave up Top prospect Joe Colborne and a #1 draft pick next month, and possible a 2nd round pick as well for nothing. Anyway you look at it, ole Burkie fleeced Peter C. Lets see, that's Kessel, Colborne, #1 and probably a #2 pick for Seguin, a ghost in Kaberle, and pick this year in the first round and also that new kid on the block they got last year in the 2nd round, Jared Knight i think it was, WHO? didnt he sing step by step?

I'd say as of this moment, Burke has the upper hand on dealings with the bruins, but Seguin may turn out to be a star, something Kessel already is tho, and is only gonna get better with a true #1 Centre, and Colborne has the makings of a great player as well.... I wonder if Peter C will ever trade with Brian B again?

lgna, reading your posts sort of feels like this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZbtAFq7dP8

Hello Octavian,

Word has it Iggy is working tirelessly to eliminate "Chuck Norris" from all the super-human stories and replace his name with Brian Burke.

I have absolutely no idea what Iggy does for a living, but at this point I would have to say...Snake Oil Salesman. What other type of person could possibly bring the name Burke into a playoff thread when he can't earn it.

On the other hand the Bruins totally sucked today. It was a disgusting loss to be up 3-0 then give up 5 straight goals like they were paid to take a dive. This is what happens when a team puts their efforts in cruise control and tries to sit back on a lead then ends up giving the momentum away to make a comeback possible.

Pretty damn ugly,

Merlot

You should learn to have better self esteem than that signature

Burke has earned being mentioned in a playoff thread without a doubt, then again, coming from a bandwagon fan such as yourself, you havnt a clue. He won a cup with the Ducks and he and Dave Nonis also of the Leafs, built a HUGE part of the Canucks team your seeing now. He has also assembled a Leafs team that was top 5 in the League the last 40 games of the season and with a good summer, will add the final pieces to not just make the playoffs but contend. Something tells me you wont be giving him praise when it happens, typical of you.

you should like hearing things over and over, your a habs fan right? Living in the past, always talking about the past, over and over, and OVER Again! ahhhhhhhhhh the glory days that once were :thumb:

And Iggy keeps talking about the Habs since there's nothing to say about the Leafs other than talking about the past, over and over again when they got 11cups more than 40years ago...

But don't worry next year will be THE MOTHERLOAD and Leafs will not only win the cup but they will win it 6 times in row to beat the Habs record and thus create a major sport dynasty which the Hole F*cking world will know about and they will actually become what Iggy and Doc has been sayin' over and over again which is 'Canada's best team ever and the greatest organization in the NHL....and throughout the hockey world'.

They still will be 7 cups short of the Habs but hey ! Burke is a genius and they will embark on another 7 straight wins for a total of 13 in a row...

Yup ! it does feels like 'Babe, I got you babe !'

Salesman was close Merlot but I think 'religious preacher' is best !

I've said before and meant it: I would be happy to cheer for the Leafs to win it all as long as it doesn't get in the way of the Bruins.

Now for a few clues for you. Burke doesn't manage the Ducks or Canucks any more, and the Leafs record was better three years ago than in the two years since Burke has lead them, so he hasn't made any provable improvement despite the past or the skills you allege. Still finishing 22nd despite being a "team that was top 5 in the League the last 40 games of the season" only proves how poorly they played in the previous 42; it still amounts to 22nd and an early vacation. Everyone knows it takes time to build a team, only you think that process is guaranteed. Burkes team didn't make it to the playoffs this year so he is irrelevant in a playoff thread this year.

If you can't accept all of this as facts, you are lying to yourself.

Salesman was close Merlot but I think 'religious preacher' is best !

If Iggy had to choose between all night sex with an entire professional teams' cheerleaders or kissing Burkes heine all that time...I think Burke would end up needing a very long shower.

Let's Go BRUINS!!!!

(Don't break my Heart)

Let's hope. It should never have gotten this far, and they let it.

Cheers,

Merlot

A big and hearty Thank You to the bruins, ty for the 2nd round pick you just secured to the Leafs by advancing to the Cup Finals. Now a nice 4 game sweep by the Canucks would be even sweeter :thumb:

Bring the Stanley Cup back home to Canada boys, where it belongs.

DO YOU BELIEVE IN.......

BRUINS are moving on!
What a GAME....no Penalties.....a 1-0 Score.....

Hey Robert,

OOOUCH! What a nail biter. I've only got two fingers left...lol. No one saw this kind of game coming. It was a brilliantly disciplined game staying away from penalties and keeping the Lightning out of their power play strength. The play by both goalies was incredible, making the game intense and suspenseful right to the end.

This kind of game is the Bruins strength. If the Bruins can keep 5 men on the ice, and Tim Thomas plays his top game consistently, it's going to make beating them very, very tough. The trick is not to revert to sloppy tactics that get them maneuvered into making penalties and giving the opposition the power play advantages they need to beat the Bruins. With the horrendous record of Boston power plays they cannot afford to trade off in his aspect of the game.

Go Bruins,

Final Round Appearances By Canadian Teams in the Post-Expansion (1967) Era:

Montreal 11, with 10 wins
Edmonton 7, with 5 wins
Calgary 3, with 1 win
Vancouver 3 (counting this year), with zero wins (so far)
Ottawa 1, with zero wins
Toronto a big fat pathetic ZERO. In fact Toronto has FAILED to even MAKE the playoffs an astounding SEVENTEEN times since 67! Hopeless perennial losers!

Congratulations to the great Steve Yzerman and the tradition of excellence that he developed during his two decades with the best organization in hockey, the great Detroit Red Wings.

Mr. Yzerman, as a first-year (!!!) GM, was able to mold the Tampa Bay Lightning into a team that was one of the FINAL THREE in this year's playoffs, losing by the NARROWEST of margins (1-0) in the SEVENTH game. This, remember, is team that did not even MAKE the playoffs the previous three seasons! An amazing accomplishment by the former Red Wing, who is already the second best GM in hockey! (Sorry, Steve, but you're not yet on a par with Kenny Holland - then again, the ONLY GM in history who was on a par with Kenny Holland was Sam Pollock.)

Compare Steve's miracles to the hopeless pathetic floundering that has been done by Brian Burke in Hogtown. Lucky for Burkie that Leaf fans aren't too bright and he can always make them drink his Kool Aid!
