Is this going to start up again? Both anon_vlad and Joe.t are banned for the first round of the playoffs for once again bringing up the same old gambling shit. Anyone want to try for two rounds?

Chara hospitalized; might miss Saturday's game

Zdeno Chara hospitalized Friday

Poor Baby ! didn't drink his milk did he ?
BS... he'll be there.

Guy is loosing 2-0 and gets one for sitting and punching Plekanec while he's down, face on the ice !
What a classy act for a captain !
Wow I'm impressed of his skills to control his emotions !

Win or loose this playoffs.... Chara is a f*cking MORON !

Didnt think Boston would give up home ice o easily... I'm shocked Montreal is leading the series 2-0. Im actually more surprised Milan Lucic hasn't killed anyone thus far in the series.

The Kings shutting out the Sharks last night was also an eye-opener.

Is Lucic drivin' a Benz or a Porsche comin' to Mtrl ?
Apparently Merlot says that in Mtrl. it ain't safe driving one during playoffs :)

After Joe Bowen & Harry Neale of the Toronto Maple Leafs sportscasts, i think the Boston Bruins have possibly the best play-by-play pair of the NHL in Jack Edwards & Andy Brickley. I just love at the way they described the recent Ference/Pouliot fight:

The Bruins announcers are almost as big a bunch of homers as their sports radio hosts.

Hey all,

It's nice to see some posting in this thread. I was wondering of this was an active thread or the morgue after the Bruins beat Montreal at their home. At least it saved the city from the ravages of the thug element for a couple of nights.

Pouliot did make a cheap shot elbow to the face after Ference had already been blind-sided by another Canadiens player. But, can you call the play by play excessive considering the rivalry. It's just part of what should be expected.

The Bruins announcers are almost as big a bunch of homers as their sports radio hosts.

I can read some French, but I cannot interpret the Canadiens play by play guys. I would wager anything you like that they are just as bad about being "homers" as anyone. And when so many Montreal fans were calling for Chara's legal prosecution, if not his lynching, Montreal fans reached new heights of partisan bluster that will be a new standard for excessive hyperbole that will stand for a very long time.

It's very hard to believe that in view of the zealous temperament of Montreal fans any play by play announcer could survive without being a 100% homer. Then again it's only natural to get carried away with emotions toward some bias, which seems inevitable, and isn't every announcer hired with the expectation of showing some favor for the team that pays them.

Back to the game, Montreal had better take advantage of this next game to put the Bruins away or it's a whole new series.

Cheers,

Merlot

The CBC play by play announcers, and the guys on TSN are not based in Montreal and are not paid by the team and have no connection to the teams they broadcast. They do a very unbiased job, other than Don Cherry of course who is a Leafs and Bruins cheerleader. I find the same goes for the guys on RDS in French. If anything, Montreal broadcast teams are more critical of the habs than the teams they play against.

But then again, Canadian broadcasters actually understand the game they are commentating on while the Boston play by play commentators are better suited to slow moving sports like baseball, basketball or football. :) Watching the NESN broadcase of many Bruins games on the net, I've found their broadcast team to be very biased towards the Bruins. You don't have to look any further than their reaction when max brushed by Chara in the game that led up to Chara's attack on him here in Montreal.

I will say that the NBC team does a decent job, but then again they have a Canadian on the team, Pierre McGuirre,, and are not connected to any individual team.

Poor Stanley

As the battle for the Stanley Cup continues on the ice, one man with his pristine white gloves takes on a sometimes more challenging goal — keeping it close and safe.

Université Laval student Félix La Rue lent a hand Wednesday afternoon to help the hockey trophy meet its busy social calendar amid a host of problems.

First, a delay at the airport when the guardian of the Cup discovered that his precious cargo didn’t follow him from Chicago, La Rue told the Star.

Then, the Cup’s protector, Mike Bolt, had to put his faith in a random motorist in Québec City when the limousine carrying the hockey trophy slid off the road during a snowstorm and busted a tire.

La Rue, who helped organize the event that brought the Cup to Québec City, was in the limo.

“The Cup was safe inside a case,” the 23-year-old said.

Since it was too big to fit in a cab, Bolt hailed down an incredulous motorist and crammed himself and the 35-pound trophy next to a car seat into the back of the van. La Rue sat in the front seat next to the excited driver.

It was already a race against the clock to get to the event with Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille but there was one more bump in the road for Bolt — he forgot his keys in the limo.

Despite a snowstorm that dropped 20 centimetres on the city Wednesday, Bolt recovered his keys, made it to the event and left in time catch his flight to Montreal for the Cup’s next viewing.

La Rue was happy to report to Quebec's Le Soleil that his help during the Cup’s tumultuous day paid off — he got to lay his hands on the Cup and has a picture to prove it.

Yup, but it will or should cost the bruins a game without him. Hey Tech, are you still missing Halak? ;)

PS. I asked this question before the overtime started... meaning Price was huge in the regulation part of the game.

Really classy move. Asshole.

Hello Boys,

Really classy move. Asshole.

Pretty stupid, unfortunately.

As I said elsewhere, you talk with your play, not by resorting to trash. The finger by Ference was inexcusable and totally unnecessary.

I only caught the last quarter and the overtime. As I said yesterday, the Canadiens may regret this double loss very much. Never let any team climb out of that hole you've thrown them in, it often comes back to bite your ass...as Yankees fans can testify first hand to their endless regret. As for Price's record at home in the playoffs, it's mysterious indeed. I can't see how this could happen to a great goalie like him.

Hugs and kisses,

Merlot

PS

I hope the emergency rescue team reached GoHabs in time. Eaaaasssssy boy...lol.
