Awesome for Tony R! Happy for him, now if only Jerry will spend to give TR some actual time to throw, aka a Offensive Line, something Romo has never had. Happy to have Romo in Big D for the next 6 seasons :thumb:

I honestly doubt they signed him as a QB. I think they want to make him a tight end. Pats like to use multiple TEs and Tebow has good TE potential.

Well, since he can't play decent quarterback, which even the lousy and desperate Jets didn't trust him at. It's long been thought his best chance is at TE, but if he's meant as a hedge for Gronkowski who needs another operation, he's a 10-fold downgrade. Oh God, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo NOT Tebow. :faint:

He might be a good TE, he is a very good athlete and has proven running ability and toughness as well as smarts. I think TE is his position and the Pats are the logical team to sign him since they like using 2 TE sets, plus Gronkoski has had about 6 operations including on his back and the back operation does not sound good. Those operations are a dice roll as far as improvement of the condition and healing. I have many clients who have had disc operations, some are improved, some not. Recovery time is variable but since he is a young athlete that is in his favor.

Tebow represents fresh meat at the position.

With or without Tebow the Pats will suck, the loss of Welker will hurt and Brady isn't getting any younger and is virtually a statue at QB, I highly doubt that he will remain healthy the whole year, I wouldn't be surprised to see the virgin starting behind the center at some point next year.

I am still in shock that Kraft let Welker walk, what a tightwad. Welker made Brady great, lets see how great he is now that his #1 weapon will be making Peyton look even better. Go Broncos!

Isn't Brady 35 years old?

In QB years that's not a spring chicken. Maybe, NE is looking ahead 2 or 3 years when Brady retires?

True and what makes the circus in NE even funnier is that Brady took a pay cut so they could sign Welker and Kraft screwed it up.... then again, maybe Welker wanted to "class it up" a bit and play with royalty in Denver. Anyways, i am sure Peyton could not be happier! Go Broncos!

It's not a matter of being a tightwad. There is a salary cap in the NFL. A dollar spent on one player is a dollar not available for another player. Without Welker the Patriots will spend upwards of 99% of the cap in 2013. Had they signed Welker they'd have had no choice but to cut back elsewhere.

Tebow did bring a certain circus atmosphere to both the Broncos and Jets but I wonder whether that will not die down a little now as he is not even a regular player let alone a star in the NFL. He is supposedly a devout Mormon and Christian but he seems to do a lot of things that bring attention to himself. He is another guy who needs to let his play do the talking.

If he is used as a TE I will be curious as to the results. He has the tools to play the position. Although it reminds me of a few years back when one of UConn's basketball players, who was a bruising, 6'8" power forward (Ed Nelson) was drafted by the Rams as a TE and quickly cut. I actually thought at the time that Nelson might make the team, as he had good hands as a basketball player and a certain toughness. He was also ACC Rookie of the Year before transferring to UConn.

Hey Boyz,

Maybe, NE is looking ahead 2 or 3 years when Brady retires?

You mean nobody thinks he can play quarterback now but in 2 to 3 years he's going to replace one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time on the winningest franchise of this century. That' some huge day DREAMING! He can't throw.

The circus??? Isn't the biggest big top in professional football down in Texas at 'Ol Cowboy Stadium??? Talk about a circus!!

Any Cowboy fan has got to be a complete nutjob if he thinks there's a bigger circus anywhere else but Dallas, and it's because Jerry Jones is the biggest horses patootie owner in any sport...now that Al Davis is no longer around to make it a contest.

...I wonder whether that will not die down a little now as he is not even a regular player let alone a star in the NFL.

The word is he didn't get any money guaranteed to sign with the team, and his press conference announcing the signing was a very controlled 1 minute. He's very lucky Belichick thinks he sees something in him and all Tebow fans should be THANKING Bill for giving him what might be a last shot, but many doubt he will even make the team.

The problem with any "circus atmosphere" is not with the Patriots who have dealt with much worse recently and generally kept them in control. The problem is the fans in love with him who create the hysterical mess, grossly delusional fans who think he's God's gift as a quarterback in contrast to the entire football establishment that ignored him and gave the Patriots a free hand with 100% leverage. Tebow was not wanted in the NFL or CFL by anyone until the Patriots picked him up. Surely Tebow knows where he stands and will do everything not to blow it by avoiding being a distraction in any way.

Tebow will never be an NFL quarterback, but I do hope such a decent a guy like him can find a position he can have a career at. After the Jets insulted him with very shabby treatment I would feel very bad to see him just get cut.

Cheers,

Merlot

Hate to burst your New England bubble there, Merlot, but Indianapolis (.719) has the best record since 2001. New England (.700) has the second best record since 2001, followed by Pittsburgh and Philadelphia (.648)

As far as Brady is concerned, he definitely ranks up in the top 10, probably top 5 quarterbacks. Lists are very subjective.

Anyhow, Tebow is 3rd string quarterback. The Patriots offered him no signing bonus, no guarantees, and can cut him without compensation anytime. So what's the risk?

DD...buddy

I know you don't like reading my looooooong posts because they tire you too much, but you REALLY ought to pay attention to at least the link you used in the address bar, which is the first and shortest thing to see. Did you notice the date of the link you used. It's January 7, 2010. So you cut off the 2010, 2011, 2012 seasons. I posted about the "winningest franchise of this century", which started in 2001. You posted "since 2001". We both referred to 12 seasons, yet you left out 3 seasons in your link. In those 12 years there were 192 games per team:

Patriots 146 wins 46 losses in the regular season. (192 total)...76%.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_New_England_Patriots_seasons

Colts 128 wins 64 losses in the regular season. (192 total)...67%.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Indianapolis_Colts_seasons

The Colts have had 2 losing seasons including that 2-14 season, The Patriots have not had a losing season from 2001. So, it's not even close, and if you throw in the playoffs we can add 17-7 for the Patriots, 9-9 for the Colts...not counting 3 Super Bowl wins for the Patriots versus 1 for the Colts. So it's the PATRIOTS by a LANDSLIDE....DUUUDE!!! :D :thumb:

On Tebow, obviously there's no risk for the Patriots. They didn't give up anything, so it's all on him. He really got a raw deal in New York. I understand he was forced on Fat Boy Ryan by the owner, maybe, but to use him mostly just for punt coverage, what a shitty way to treat him. Hopefully Belichick or the other coaches can find some way to make his strength work for the team and him. But he is not and never will be complete enough to be a steadily playing quarterback.

Cheers son,

Merlot
