WOW....Golden Knights are just wow..... Congrats to Galland ...he is doing a hell of good job....je connais une équipe qui n'aurait jamais dû le laisser partir.....je savais qu'il réussirait avec son groupe de jeunes.
Great organizations are always built from the top down. Always. The Golden Knights' success surprises me, but not really. The moment George McPhee and later Gerard Gallant were named as GM and coach i knew they wouldn't be a Mickey Mouse outfit and would play competitve hockey.
The day the likes of Brendan Shanahan, Lou Lamoriello, Mike Babcock and Mark Hunter joined the Leafs meant that bright days were ahead. These were all quality hockey men and most importantly quality individuals. The coaching and scouting staffs were revamped and the players who didn't fit in with the program were sent packing away in favor of younger and more talented players. Quality players, quality individuals.
Many have made fun of some of Lou Lamoriello's quirky team rules. Especially the one that no player will be allowed to have any facial hair. But surprising was the fact many players actually approve of the rule. Nazem Kadri for one was all for it and he mentioned that it shows there is order and organization around the team. And when i look around the league and especially at a team like the habs where you see the likes of Jordie Benn and Alex Galchenyuk their beards (especially in the case of Galchenyuk) their beards make them look like bums....like they haven't shaven for weeks and it makes you wonder if they aren't earning minimum wage and can't afford a razor. Their 'look' doesn't make them seem like they're proud to be Montreal Canadiens. It almost seems like they are disrespecting the jersey they're wearing. Put the Leafs next to the Habs and it's easy to tell which of the two teams appear to have more class and more pride.
The problem with the Habs didn't start with Marc Bergevin. It started the day Pierre Boivin was sent packing by owner Geoff Molson when he inserted himself as the team President.
