Upon further reflection (and watching the video a dozen times), i must admit it was a hell of a check & one i'd be applauding if a player on my team would have made it. It was legal according to the league's rules, no doubt. But again, one hell of a bone-crushing check!! I also don't really know what Booth could have done to avoid it....he did see Richards coming, but the play happened so fast that he didn't have much time to react.

A player who successfully makes that check is a heck of a hockey player & who will always get the ice time he wants if i'm coaching. One who doesn't finish his check on such a play will be riding the pine. That's hockey!

You sure now? An hour before posting this you were calling for Richard's to be executed, now he'd be the star of your team?

Ducks laid an egg

It was a game for the ages – an epic match up of two bottom-feeding teams. Despite Herculean efforts on both sides, they lacked the competence to engineer a tie. So one last place team beat the other - Burke and Wilson will be expecting big raises from MLSE. Now, presumably, the "drive for 2 in a row" will be the focus for this Leaf juggernaut.

Seriously, don’t get too excited Leaf fans. Anaheim has not been playing well – going into last nights game, they had lost three straight at home, having been outscored 15-6! Basically, you caught them at the right time. The ducks took 17 penalties – maybe they’re even more undisciplined than Toronto?

As for the game itself, four Leaf goals while Anaheim had just three skaters on the ice, including three two-man advantage goals - Even an AHL team would have capitalized on all those chances. The Law of Averages finally worked for the Leafs. If was only a matter of time until this sad sack bunch came up against a team that was having a bad night. Interesting that Toronto’s first win in 9 games comes against a team Burke demolished – oh, the irony!

Last week got some coutesy tickets so popped over to St Louis to watch them play the Stars.... the Blues certainly weren't impressive. Turco was sharp for the Stars. Stephane Robidas (drafted originally by the Habs) although 5'11" plays like a miserable little pest.

Fair number of empty seats.

(*** I hadn't noticed this.)

Did I miss something? Did Toronto win last night? Are the Leafs now ahead of Montreal in the standings or are they still sitting in 30th place? A lot of chirping from fans of a last place team - last in the division, last in the conference and last place in the league.

Speaking of the Laffs, your team's sole victory came against a 26th place team playing some terrible hockey. As for the game last night, the Stars were taking most of the night off and Turco looked bored- it must be hard to be motivated against much, much weaker competition. But every so often Dallas would turn it up, exposing Toronto’s defence – which almost continually has to scramble and is out of position. Bottom line: Toronto has to depend on the other team not doing their job, which was clearly the case last night. What about the Leaf offense? No creativity and no imagination – just shoot from the outside and pray it goes in. Does Chiarelli allow Burke to have the honour of announcing Boston's first overall pick next June?

Let's be fair now GHG. Doc has every right to boast. After all the Leafs are currently riding their greatest hot streak of the season: a win (against the team that Bryan Murray made into a Cup winner and Brian Burke then destroyed) and an overtime loss. By Leaf standards, that's fan-freaking-tastic!

Another reason Doc has to boast: the Leafs already have one win this season and already have two overtime losses - again, magnificent achievements by Leaf standards. Four points already! No wonder Doc is smiling like a proud papa!

Wow. So the habs got destroyed by the Stanley Cup champions. That was supposed to be a surprise for someone? None of us ever said the habs were anywhere near the top teams of the league but that they would have to really work to even make the playoffs this year. It's only the Leafs fans that seem to be putting words in our mouths.

Who was doing all the bragging in this thread after the draft and the free agent signings? Not habs fans, it was the Leafs fans that were crowing about how great their team would be and how great they would do this year. But now that the Leafs have only 1 win this season their fans don't talk about them any more and only talk about the habs. What's wrong guys? Shy? Embarrassed at the performance of your team? What happened to the great acquisition of Komisarek who was going to be so great this year but has yet to get so much as one point and is a -6 after 11 games?

Do you guys also write the ads for Apple? They talk about everything but their own product too!

I guess we'll see if the Leafs are good enough to beat the lowly habs tonight. I'm sure that after the game, Leafs fans will be talking about how they should have won, how the penalties went against them, that they lost because it was raining outside or that they ate some bad candy when they went trick or treating earlier in the evening.

Let's talk after the game tonight when you've wiped the tears from your eyes after your eleventh loss in twelve games.

Maybe we should have a poll on how many stupid penalties Komi will take tonight? :D

now that is some funny stuff Tech! hahahaha :D

everyone knows the most arrogant fans in the world are the scab fans as they feel it is their given right to be cup champs every year..... maybe your not the typical scab fan, and i commend you for that... but of course the majority of scab fans expected the scabs to be alot better than they are..... boo hoo :p

Sure, blame it on the Leafs fans again........

Your teams sucks, plain & simple. Kostitsyn sucks, Price sucks, Gill sucks, Gainey sucks, etc....the list is long! Instead of admitting to this fact, Habs fans continuously shift the conversation back to the Maple Leafs.

Once again, yes, the Leafs suck right now. I admit it. But the Habs suck as much, which Habs fans refuse to admit. The Habs should also be ashamed of themselves for showing the door to the likes of Saku Koivu & Alex Kovalev, who had the bleu-blanc-rouge tatooed to their chest!

By the way, even though the Leafs have struggled this season, they're slowly creeping up on the Habs (love it!) and with a win tonight will only be 5 pts behind the Habs, with two games in hand on top of that!

Go Leafs go!!!!!!! Go Komi!!!!!! Go Canada's team!!! :D

The only reason the Leafs have 5 points is because the NHL is a league that rewards losers who make it through the first 60 minutes with a point. As far as I'm concerned, the Leafs should have only 2 points. But such is life in the NHL.

Canada's team? The Leafs? Give me a break. Canada's embarrassment is more like it!

seems the scabbies could use a new set of rules, maybe they could be contenders once again, but i think your in for a loooooooooooooooooooong wait before Le Cup comes back to Les Habitants ......
By the way...how come Colton Orr didn't get suspended for his blatant breaking of the rules? He pushed a linesman and that should be an immediate suspension. Are there now two sets of rules in the NHL? One for the Leafs and one for the rest?

There's only one way to reply to that: 1967!!! Leafs fans know all there is to know about waiting a long time for success. They're either the most patient fans in the hockey world or the dumbest. :p
