The Leafs are now one of the hottest teams in the NHL!!!!!
Things are looking good in Torontol!!!!!![/COLOR][/B]

Well, if by "hottest" you mean 11 points in 15 games and if by "looking good" you mean 3 wins in 15 games, then I congratulate you on your positive attitude (if by "positive" I mean "unrealistic").

Ah, i detect sour grapes just because Canada's team demolished your Red Wings in front of a bunch of hall-of-famers! :D

Leafs

The Leafs have won 2 straight and have points in 7 straight. As the saying goes, when you are at rock bottom, there is no place to go but up. But they need to be careful that they don't blow the #1 pick in the draft next year, otherwise the 5 year plan of building a championship team could go astray.

The Islanders have also been playing well, with a young group of player. And the Capitals scored 7 goals without Ovechkin last night, giving hope to their fans that they can play a little without him.

Beav, the Leafs don't have a #1 pick next year, nor the one after. That was the price they paid when they traded for Phil Kessel of the Bruins. Burke's reasoning, if you weren't following the story at the time, was that Kessel easily would have been a #1 overall pick in most draft years other than his own. I tend to agree with his assessment. Kessel is also very young, being in his early 20's, which is a rarity among free agent signings. His whole future is still ahead of him & not behind him. He's also a proven scorer with superstar potential. That's why Brian Burke didn't mind parting with his 2nd number one pick....he had to give something to entice the Bruins into trading him...and to a division rival on top of that. He did pay a steep price, but if Kessel pays the dividends that he expects him to, the price he paid will have been worth it.

It'll be a few years, possibly even five, until we can figure out if it was a good or bad trade by the Leafs. I was all for it....Kessel is a great player to start building the future around. Let's not forgot that the next draft years are not expected to be very good ones & the Leafs expect to be among the top half teams of the league, meaning the pick they would have got would not have even made it to the NHL & it takes a few years to develop a player. But again, we will see in a few years if Burke's decision was the correct one.

Tell me this is a cohesive team. Hahaha! :D

They were talking about this on the Hockey Night in Canada post-game show last night. News travel fast in these circles.

The panel were astonished that an agent would pull this stunt, which would only divide both goalies & cause further controversy. A member of the panel said that if he were Price, he'd pull Halak aside & tell him to tell his agent to 'shut the fuck up' and remind him that it's causing more harm than good to the team.

Only in Montreal....................

oh thats not good lol....... looks like a wedge is being put between the two goalies, and why do i have a feeling one will be saying goodbye soon? guess it is not a bad thing as Gainey should be able to get a good player in return as either halak or price should command a decent player back, but not alot of teams are looking for a starting goalie right now and if so do they have a good player there willing to let go ... maybe?

again, if you have not watched all the Leafs games like i have, then you have no idea what we mean when we say the Leafs are playing much much better than the first 7 games, and the way they look the last 7 or 8, it is like night and day .......

Kessel was that #1 pic that they got for giving away two #1'a and a #2 the next 2 drafts, BUT, it is a risk worth taking, especially since you gotta remember Burke basically already signed guys who may of easily been first round pics in the Monster, Bozak, Stalberg, and Hanson........ he did more before the draft than any other GM has done until now and only time will tell. but the Monster looks like the real deal, stalberg just needs some seasoning, Hanson leads the Marlies in scoring and will most likely be called up for a few games soon to see what he can do and Bozak is a future first or 2nd line center in the NHL providing his progress continues and gets some more valuable experience down on the farm,.,..

so anyone who bashes Burke for doing like previous leafs gms did (ala JKJ) have no idea what there talking about, just research what hockey's respected journalists have all said and not what scabs fans say and you will see what i say is true....... and only time will tell, lots of "ifs" but also lots of possible brilliant moves by burke also, like i said, TIME will tell..... bottom line is, the Leafs finally have direction, and its forward, not backwards like Les Habitants:D

Just another sleazy agent only thinking of his 20% but especially idiotic considering Halak's contract ends this year. This moron probably just cost him $500K so if I'm Jaro I'm looking for a new agent tomorrow.

The irony is that Martin had been playing him more than ever this year and he's been preforming well but now every time a starting goalie decision will be made this asshole's brilliant comments will echo in Jacques' head. :(

What i can't figure out is that likely the only reason why Price was in the nets in the past couple of games is because Halak is currently out with a slight groin pull. So why stir the pot? What Halak's agent did was totally classless. Carey Price won at least three games (Toronto, Buffalo, Boston) by himself this season & the only real bad game he had was against Vancouver. In several games that he played in where the Habs lost, the team had scored only 1 or 2 goals. Not a great way to go on a winning streak when the team doesn't score.

I know your math skills are limited and you’re not good with numbers – but the Maple Turds have lost 13 games while only winning 3. Those 5 loser consolation points (from losing in OT – the operative word being LOSING) only make your lousy team look better than they really are. If the league didn’t reward the losing team in OT with a point, your shitty team would be sitting in 30th place with only 6 points.
