Why you ask? well, because of Father Gainey :)

because boring BOB Gainey is acting more like a Father than a GM,.... Price keeps getting chance after chance even tho he usually plays worse than Halak, and Sergei K mouthed off to daddy (boring Bobby) by refusing to go to Hamilton at first, and now even tho he's "behaving" and playing well ,Bob G aka DADDY, wont let the lesson he 's trying to teach him be over even tho Latendresse deserves a trip to hamilton,..... ahhhhh gotta love a third rate organization like Les Habitants 2009/2010 version .......:p
How come Guillaume Latendresse is still in the NHL?? Why is Sergei Kostitsyn stuck in Hamilton & Latendresse is still with the big club?

Speaking of the number three, that’s exactly how many wins the Leafs have this season – in 17 games! That’s good for 29th place in the league – other than Carolina, Toronto is the worst team in the NHL!

and the "SCABS" are the equivalent of what? sure not a contender at this stage of the season, but thats what is nice, if a team gets hot and goes on a 2-3 week winning streak, anything can happen, yes even with your scabs :p

As this clip proves, not all the retards in Toronto are fans of the Leafs, one of them is actually coaching the team.

I loved how Kane later responded by scoring on his first shot three minutes into the game. :D

BTW Canada's national embarrassment is now back on track and putting the losses together once again. If they stay on this pace they will end the season with an impressive 14 wins and 53 points.

G1G now predicts a guaranteed lottery pick for Boston next June. :D

Signing Laraque was one of Gainey's biggest blunders, and there have been a lot of them so that's saying something. But now that he's on the disabled list, at least he's not on the ice. I have a feeling that we've seen the last of him in a Canadiens' lineup. Look for him in your local vegan restaurant.

I loved how the Leafs fans got all cheery and hopeful after one win! But now that they've gone back to normal, in other words... losing, the Leafs fans are back to their normal behaviour attacking the habs. So predictable and so sad that you have nothing at all to look forward to, not even the draft next year because Boston will have your prime pick. :p

Why do Leafs players have so much trouble surfing the net?

.......

Because they can't put three Ws together. :D

Update from Nashville

Final score:

Habs 0 Nashville 2

Shots on goal
:

Habs 20 Nashville 55

Holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carey Price gets the first star of the game, even though his team lost!!! Meanwhile, the goalie who gets the shutout doesn't get a single game star! Only on RDS!!!

Believe it or not, even the Toronto Maple Leafs haven't allowed 55 shots on goal!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!

And while Price is standing on his head for a change, it looks like the Leafs down 4-2 to the Flames with under 10 minutes to play are headed for a 15th loss of the season.

How come Toskala is back in the net? I thought the monster was supposed to be the saviour in the Leafs nets?

Update: Make that 5-2 Flames

Final update: That's all folks! A 15th loss for Canada's most pitiful hockey franchise.

So that's why they call him the monster. You put him in goal and within five shots he can singlehandedly turn the game into a horror show. :D

Fast forward to April 10, 2010

Pathetic Maple Leafs end 09/10 season on a whimper

The Canadian Press
4/10/2010 10:38:56 PM

MONTREAL – Mike Cammalleri scored his 40th goal on the season and the game winner (with assists to Scott Gomez and Brian Gionta) at the 01:00 mark of the first period as the Toronto Maple Leafs ended their brutal campaign with a 5-0 loss to the Montreal Canadiens in front of another sell out crowd at the Bell Centre. Leaf ‘tender Andrew Raycroft (re-aquired from Vancouver in exchange for Toronto’s first round pick in 2012) was chased after allowing 3 goals on 5 shots. Toronto back up Jim Carey did fair a bit better but Leaf defensemen Mike Komisarek and Aki Berg were both a minus 5 for the night.

Toronto’s goaltending situation has been in a state of disarray all season long as Gustavsson headed back to the Swedish league after the Olympic break so he could play on a real team and Toskala has been the regular starter for the AHL Marlies for most of the season.

Toronto could only muster 12 shots on goal during the entire game. Toronto has had a problem scoring this season, especially after Phil Kessel bolted to play with Jaromir Jagr with Omsk Avangard in the KHL – the league is still investigating.

The Leafs have now lost 79 games in the 2009-2010 season to finish with a 3-74-5 record, the worst in NHL history.

"This sad sack franchise is a disgrace to the game" said Leafs coach Tie Domi. "There's nowhere to go but up."

Leafs GM Dave “Tiger” Williams will now have to figure out how to get the organization back on its feet without a first round draft pick for the next three years.

More to follow…

Unfortunately even though Laraque can't skate he is still the best fighter in pro-hockey. He scares the opposing player toff guys. Since the canadiens have decent little sqeakers (Gionta, Camalleri-Plenec) that can play, the rest of the tema is full of cowards and incompetents at least if you're gonna loose 3 out of every 4 games bring up some bruisers. Get rid of clowns lie Leach, Begeron and Gorges and bring up some toughness, ie, Neilson & Henry. Trade away losers like Latendresse & Lapierre to recruit some real toughness a la Aythurkin or Georges Parros.

Very true, but the guy absolutely hates to fight at this point in his career. He reminds me a lot of Dave Semenko, who absolutely hated fighting late in his career, but still did it once in a while in order to save his job.

Anyways, it's quite possible that we've seen the last of big Georges. I still find it amazing he's been able to play with two herniated discs. I've had disc surgery in the past & i was pretty much an invalid for a year prior to the surgery. His future is in the broadcast booth, where he'll be a success.

Believe it or not, the Toronto Maple Leafs have only won 3 in 19 games!!!! Wow!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to the Leafs for overachieving!

When you have such a woeful squad, accompanied by such poor management and such extremely misdirected coaching, winning as many as 3 games out of 19 can truly be deemed a success to be proud of.

Even more amazing, one of their victories came against a REAL team (Detroit). Even if Toronto fails to win another game this season (quite possible!), they can head to the golf course come playoff time (as they always do) but this year they can do it with their heads held high.

The poor guys are seriously overmatched in every way and in every game they play, so full marks to them for being able to win 16% of their games.

Having watched every Leafs & Habs games this season, i've come to this conclusion last night:

The Habs have to be the luckiest team in the entire NHL.

The Leafs have to be the unluckiest team in the entire NHL.

Once again, the Habs were dominated for the most part of 3 periods, but were saved both by luck & strong goaltending.

Once again, the Leafs dominated the opposition for the most part of 3 periods, but were sunk by bad luck & another soft goal let in by their goaltending (yes, Toskala!).

My conclusion is that the Habs record is a bad reflection of how the team is actually playing. They now have a 5-0 record in overtime. If it wasn't for their great overtime record, they'd be close to where the Leafs presently are in the standings. The Leafs are the better team of the two, but the edge in goaltending goes to the Habs. Take away the luck factor, the Leafs would be slightly ahead of the Habs, or even. I'm including the fact the Habs' goaltending is superior, which as been fairly consistent on a game-to-game basis. People are quick to blame Price for letting in soft goals in the past, but you don't win games by regularly scoring less than 2 goals a game, which is what the Leafs are experiencing so far this season. The difference? Once again, goaltending.

(Don't get me wrong....i'm aware that these are two very bad teams. I'm simply comparing them.)

A tale of two NHL youngsters, Filatov and Schenn

Nikita Filatov, once viewed as exceptional, is now the exception.

Precedent, of course, is always worth a headline, and in this case, the unusual decision Tuesday of the Columbus Blue Jackets to loan the 19-year-old Filatov to CSKA Moscow of the Kontinental Hockey League as a means of furthering his hockey development was certainly noteworthy.

It's happened to other top Russian picks, but only when they have essentially failed as prospects. In Filatov's case, the Blue Jackets still very much believe that one day he'll be a 30- or 40-goal scorer in the world's best league, and that he still wants to be an NHL player.

The Jackets are basically using the Moscow club as a farm team, a fascinating level of co-operation considering the NHL and KHL usually can't agree on the colour of the sky.

Filatov, who was getting limited, third- and fourth-line duty with Columbus this season, preferred Moscow to AHL Syracuse and will now learn his trade under former NHLer Sergei Nemchinov and, probably, return some day.

"He's only 19 and he weighs 180 pounds," said Columbus GM Scott Howson. "He's got to get stronger. He made the request last week that he wanted to play more, and while we didn't disagree, he hasn't played his way onto a top-line role with us."

The former Red Army team will pay him a salary this season while the Jackets pay nothing, get to take him off their payroll for cap purposes and still retain two more years on his entry-level contract.

In general, the NHL and KHL haven't been able to smoothly do business – Alexander Radulov, Jiri Hudler, etc. – but this was a deal worked out between Columbus and CSKA, although the Bettman administration was aware of the proposed arrangement.

Maybe Filatov should've stayed in Russia for at least another year after being the sixth pick of the '08 draft. Maybe he would have been better off not to spurn the Sudbury Wolves and to have played a year of Canadian junior hockey.

But, in a larger sense, his case also serves as a warning to those who believe if a young man plays in the NHL at 18 he's made it for good.

Look at the growing pains of Leafs blueliner Luke Schenn this season, the player selected one slot ahead of Filatov in the 2008 draft.

On Tuesday night in Ottawa, the stay-at-home defenceman had yet another difficult night in a series of difficult nights. He lost a fight, got cut, stepped out of the shooting lane while penalty killing to permit a deflection goal, fumbled the puck repeatedly and was benched for all but one shift in the third period.

Moscow isn't an option for Schenn, and the Leafs are stubbornly resisting the notions that time in the press box or with the Marlies would help.

But there has to be an alternative to having him bang his head against the wall night after night.

From that '08 draft, the first three picks – Steven Stamkos, Drew Doughty and Zach Bogosian – are all studs. The fourth pick, defenceman Alex Pietrangelo, is seventh on St. Louis' depth chart and has played just eight games.

After Filatov in the top 10, Mikkel Boedker is fighting to be a Phoenix regular after playing 78 NHL games last season and Cody Hodgson's efforts to crack Vancouver's lineup were wrecked by injury.

For those that worry about the first rounders dealt by the Leafs for Phil Kessel, then, this is evidence that those picks aren't guaranteed, particularly if they aren't top three picks. Moreover, it takes time, and just because a player skates in the NHL as a teenager doesn't necessarily mean the development curve will all be upward.

To some, Filatov had the most skill of any player in the '08 draft. But that just gets you in the door.

In his case, he's headed back out the door again, return date unknown.
