With the Olympic respite consigned to the history books, the Leafs continue to stumble through their horrendous season with a 5-1 loss to Hurricanes

Babcock returns from winning the gold medal game and coaches Detroit to a resounding win aginst Colorado.

Wilson returns from losing the gold medal game and coaches the leafs to yet another humiliating loss, a 5-1 blowout to the Canes.

In other words, back to normal all around, after the Olympic break.

Yes, those who have been following these hockey threads over the past few seasons will recall how that poster switched allegiances and turned on his "team" – and on more than one occasion, I might add. In typical cowardly fashion, that poster deleted the incriminating evidence, yet again.

Orr Destroys Lucic! (for the slow habs fans, not bobby orr)

Colton Orr landed 14 punches to Lucics 6, and a bloody Milan headed to the dressing room immediately after the fight to get stitched up.... meanwhile the fight inspired the Leafs and they ended up playing a good game with a goal 2 minutes after the Orr beatdown, and with a bunch of new YOUNG guys, including Luca Caputi's first point as a Leaf since Brian Burke aquired the top prospect from the Penguins yesterday....

Don Cherry was at the game and in between the 1st and 2nd periods he was quoted as being very upset that Lucic "quit by asking the linesman to step in" and also quoted as saying Lucic was a disgrace to the bruin uniform tonight.

Mike Millbury said, "well, Colton Orr is one of the toughest in the Biz" Cherry replied. "well, then dont fight him if your gonna QUIT!" Cherry was pissed a Bruin gave up!



watch at the end of the fight, Lucic is like "where am i"?

Cherry has a valid point. If you're going to cry to the linesmen & beg them to stop the fight, why the hell fight in the first place? Blood was gushing out of his nose like water coming out of a faucet, so it's possible he panicked.

Milan Lucic isn't the same player he used to be. He now looks insecure & fragile. Very fragile. He seems to get hurt everytime he fights. He won't have a long career if he keeps it up!

I was impressed by the Leafs tonight & Tim Thomas won that game single-handedly for the Bruins.

Just watched this fight on the NESN replay. Orr definitely won the fight, no doubt about that, Lucic caught him a few times early but Orr came on midway and at the end. Would I say he DESTROYED Lucic? No f'n way, he beat him but it was far from the massacre that homer boy likes to call it. Then again, when your team's even worse than the B's, there isn't much to cheer about. Lol.

I agree 100% Doc that Lucic is not the same player this year at all!! He's been horrendous, looks like he just learned how to skate. I don't know what happened to this guy from last season to this one.

Montreal 65 games, 66 points, 30-29-6, sitting tied 8th-10th
Toronto 63 games, 50 (!!!) points, 19-32-12, sitting 15th and last (as well as their usual 29th overall)

AND...since Burke made his "blockbuster" trades to pick up Phaneuf and Jiggy, the leafs are an astounding 2-4-1. In other words, since those "blockbuster" trades, the leafs have done even worse (!!!) than they were doing before! Before the "blockbuster" trades, they were 17-28-11 but their record since then would pro-rate (if expanded over 56 games) to 16-32-8. In other words, for mathematically challenged people such as leaf fans, the leafs had 45 points in the 56 games before the "blockbuster" trades but their 7 games since then would pro-rate to 40 (!!!) points over a 56 game span.
It looks like Burke's "blockbuster" trades made the team even worse - and who would have guessed that THAT team could possibly get even worse? No surprise though - the "blockbuster" trades got rid of a third of the leafs' already anemic scoring and now by dumping Poni Burke has lost another big chunk of their pitiful offense. The only leaf left who can put the puck in the net is Kessel...and if a team is relying on Phil Kessel for its offense it's in pretty damned bad shape!

The way Lucic has been carrying on this season, i wouldn't have been surprised if Komisarek won their fight if it would have happened. Lucic simply isn't the same player he used to be. I actually liked him as a player last season. He reminded me of a young Wendel Clark in his better days. And now.......what a disappointment.
