rookie

sniff sniff .,... :D
Nope, sorry Iggy...wrong again.:p
Actually I didn't follow hockey too much, but figured I'd start a little, so to pick a team to root for I used the logic employed by most Yankee fans.
I went out and found the team with the most championships and picked 'em as my new fav...;):D

The Leafs are really a 1-11 team. Giving that point for a regulation tie just makes things look better than they really are.

1 win and 11 losses and there ain't anything you can say that makes that any less embarrassing. It's pitiful really.:p

A man enters a bar. The bar has a robot bartender. The robot serves him a perfectly prepared cocktail and then asks him, "What's your IQ?"

The man replies "150" and the robot proceeds to make conversation about global warming factors, quantum physics and spirituality, biochemistry, environment interconnectedness, string theory, nanotechnology and sexual proclivities.

The customer is very impressed and thinks, "This is really cool." He decides to test the robot. He walks out of the bar, turns around and comes back in for another drink. Again, the robot serves him the perfectly prepared drink and asks him, "What's your IQ?"

The man responds, "about 100." Immediately the robot starts talking, but this time about football, super models, favorite fast foods and guns.

Really impressed, the man leaves the bar and decides to give the robot one more test. He returns, the robot serves him and asks, "What's your IQ?"

The man replies, "Er, 50, I think."

And the robot says.... real slowly.

"So................You.. following.. the.. Leafs.. again... this... year?".....

By the way, even though the Leafs have struggled this season, they're slowly creeping up on the Habs (love it!) and with a win tonight will only be 5 pts behind the Habs, with two games in hand on top of that!

Go Leafs go!!!!!!! Go Komi!!!!!!

I hope you had a Plan B, Doc because it seems that Plan A didn't quite work out!

Right now, the only difference between the Leafs & the Habs, other than the Leafs having a better team, is that the Leafs have been terribly unlucky so far, while the Habs have been terribly lucky.

Right Doc, the Leafs have a MUCH better team, as the evidence indicates. They have exactly one win (and they have that one only because it came against the last team that Burke singlehandedly destroyed), they have less than half the points the habs have, and they have lost both games they played against the habs. Gee, Doc, when you can produce overwhelming evidence like that, it's hard to argue with you....NOT!

Party? What party? The Leafs' victory party?

I hope the party after the Anaheim win was a memorable one - it might be the only victory party the hopeless leafs have this year.

Pathetic team, clueless GM, out-of-touch coach...sad, really, but also an embarrassment to Canada to have a pitiful bunch like this representing a Canadian city.

According to idiots #1 and #2:

  • The Leafs should be 12-0
  • The Leafs deserved to win but lost
  • The Leafs were snake bit around the net
  • The Leafs got ripped off by the refs
  • The other team’s winning goal was a lucky bounce
  • Luck doesn't seem to be with the Leafs
  • The Leafs don't get ANY bounces
  • The other team’s goalie stole the game
  • Ron Wilson is the best coach in the NHL
  • Brian Burke is the best G.M. in the the league

but in reality:

  • The Leafs have 1 win in 12 games - The sole victory came against a 26th place team playing some terrible hockey.
  • The Leafs take more bad penalties at the wrong times
  • The Leafs give up the puck, it costs them
  • The Leaf forwards can't finish around the net
  • The Leafs lack skills to convert work into results
  • The Leafs demonstrate no offensive imagination. Their shoot outside and pray approach is not sufficient to be a winning team.
  • The Leafs' defense comes down to the 'tender not the team
  • The Leafs have to depend on the other team not doing their job
  • The Leaf’s opposition is yet to be out-coached
  • Gasbag Burke has the Leafs in 30th place despite spending up to the cap maximum (and beyond).

1) Leafs played a great game

2) Leafs deserved to win

3) Leafs should have won....DESPITE of Vesa Toskala

4) Leafs showed they had pride, guts & glory by coming back as they did against an inferior opponent.

5) Mtl was once again very lucky.....how long can it last??

6) I'm proud of the way the Leafs came back......even if they lost the crappy skills competition.

7) I had a fantastic time at the game......even if the Leafs only 1 pt. tonight.

Go Leafs Go!!!!! :D

Fool,

You just burned yourself and validated my above post in the process – hilarious! Leaf fans certainly are predictable. :D

1) Leafs played a great game

… and still lost the game and have only 1 win in 12 and sit in 30th place in the league – the worst team in the NHL!

4) Leafs showed they had pride, guts & glory by coming back as they did against an inferior opponent.

Your crappy team had to rely on a cheesy goal deflecting off of Spacek’s skate to secure the one point awarded to the loser team.

I love this quote. You show guts and pride by not giving in to a superiour opponent, not an inferiour one. But in a way it still applies because the Leafs were out-shot 12-5 in the first period and were lucky to come out of it in a scoreless tie. And the habs, like every other team in the league, are superiour to the Leafs.

Toskala couldn`t stop a beach-ball in a shootout and from the smile on Gomez`s face when he was getting ready showed that he knew it too.

The NHL should really do something about this `get a point for losing` policy. It should be 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime win and 1 point for a shootout win. Absolutely nothing for a loss. Then the Leafs would only have the 2 points they deserve to have instead of 6 which includes the losers` consolation points.

Lets's examine everything you wrote Doc:

1. The "Leafs played a great game' - not a good game, but a great one!
Yet, they srill LOST...and to the Habs of all teams - who, as you keep telling us, are simply horrendous. I dunno: something does not compute. Shouldn't a terrific team like the Leafs, playing a "great" game, be able to beat the lowly Habs? Uh, maybe not...since they've now lost BOTH times they played this season.

2. "Leafs deserved to win" - Wrong. The team that wins is the team that deserves to win - seems kind of elementary, doesn't it?

3. "Leafs should have won" - uh, NO! See items 1 and 2 above. "Despite of Vesa Toskala" - uh, last time I checked, a goalie was part of the team - probably the most important part. If Toskala's no good, maybe your team is no good.

4. "Leafs showed they had pride, guts & glory by coming back as they did against an inferior opponent." Pride? Ha ha ha ha ha - they're the worst freakin' team in the NHL, probably the worst freakin' Leafs team of all time, and they have one win in 12 games! What is there to be proud about?
Guts? They have a team of cowards, backstabbers, and selfish players (hi there, Mike Komisarek) - they "came back" but lost anyway - where are the guts?
"Glory" - NOW, I'm really laughing! Glory? The Leafs? Are you freaking kidding? Is the "glory" in their one win of the season, is it in their not winning a Cup since 67, is it in losing to the habs 2 out of 2 this season, is it in the memories of Harold Ballard, is it in the scandals at Maple Leaf Gardens, or is it in their storied history of players like Tie Domi, Brian Spencer, and Jiri Tlusty?
"Coming back against an inferior opponent" - well, if the opponent was "inferior", then a} why did they have to come back? b) why did they go on to LOSE after coming back? and c) why are they 0 and 2 against an "inferior" opponent? Typical Doc "logic"!

5. "Montreal was once again very lucky" - typical loser's lament! If you win, it's because you were better, but if you lose it's because of bad luck - BS!

6. "I'm proud of the way the Leafs came back...even if they lost the crappy skills competition". Good - glad you're "proud" to see your hopeless bunch of outcasts and misfits lose yet again. As for the "hopeless skills competition" - a) they lost the skills competition because they have no skills, b) the "hopeless skills competition" is part of the game. It's in the rule book. Every team has to abide by it. If you don't like it, start watching croquet instead of hockey! c) Again, typical loser's lament: "it's not my TEAM that's bad, it's the RULES". Maybe you should buy a set of crying towels. In the Leafs case, a full set contains 82 towels!

7. "I had a fantastic time at the game...even if the Leafs only 1 pt. tonight" (sic). Well Doc, I'm glad you enjoyed the game...but as for "only 1 pt", what's the problem? One point is a lot MORE than your pathetic losers USUALLY get - so it was a very successful night for them - congratulations.

C'mon joel, don't pick on Domi. As it turns out he's a decent figure skater! That gives all the current Leafs a future career to look forward to. :p

Good point! In figure skating, the Leafs wouldn't have to worry about shooting, passing, scoring, stopping the puck (hi Vesa), backchecking, or forechecking - but Komisarek would probably still find a way to get stupid penalties!

The insecurity shown by habs fans is astonishing!!

No one - habs fans or otherwise - is showing insecurity.

Realists are giving FACTS showing how atrocious the leafs are, and leaf fans are crying, offering excuses, denying reality, and trying to deflect the truth about their pathetic and inept squad by blowing smoke in the direction of the canadiens.

Be a man and admit that your team is shit. Root for them all you want - that's your privilege - but at least face the facts. (By the way, all your predictions and past bravado seem to have been misguided, do they not?)

Calm down little man, calm down! I detect some aggressivity in your post. I know that your Red Wings haven't played that good up to now, but still....

I've never (nor has Iggy) said that the Leafs were a great team. I've actually said on record that they pretty much suck right now (but with a bum like Toskala in nets, how can't they?). But the Habs suck as much, likely more. Difference has been goaltending.

But i'm not giving up on my team!!!!!! :D

Lucky??? A little but so has most teams this year, INCLUDING the Leafs. The Habs have been up and down this year but are a far superior team to the Leafs. They have a legitimate top and checking line. They have two good young goaltenders and the Leafs don't have one. The Habs had a couple of rough games against the Pens and Canucks but I would say have outplayed their opponents in 9 of the 14 games they've played this year. And btw, if you think he Leafs weren't lucky last game, look at the no call when Cammalleri got a Leaf stick stuck in his helmet:eek:!!!!!! Keep planning that parade route Doc. By the time the Leafs get to use it, you'll be long dead.
