LOL,

You boys don't need Eharmony...you need a reverend, a ring bearer, and the bridal suite. Didn't you read the thread title? "No fucktard comments." Maybe it should have said no gay fucktard comments.

You may now kiss the bride,

Merlot

We need a maid of honor, Phantom? ... :p:D

Sorry boys, had to join the f'tard parade for a second...

The bigger question would be who would replace him in Boston, I shutter to think it be hermafuck or whatever the hell his name is.

Hermidia, numnuts (I mean Beavis) - and with some coaching he could be good. :D
Also out there and could be good in Fenway:
Marlon Byrd
Vladimir Guerrero
Andruw Jones
Rick Ankiel
Reed Johnson

The Sox also have 3 OF prospects graded 8 - 10 in Josh Reddick, Ryan Kalish and Ryan Westmoreland.

Johnny Damon...LOL :p:D

Well,

For a guy who wants a dynasty you don't make much sense.

I heard reported that Damon has told the Yankees he doesn't want to play anywhere else. So what will the Yankees do? Do they pay a 36 year old Damon for a probable 3 more years at a cut rate under $13 million a year he implies he would take to stay, or do they go and buy a 31 year old Bay at around $17-20 million for 4-5 years??? The former choice would get an aging declining player for less, the latter choice would get a younger player at peak. The Yankees aren't famous for bargain deals, especially when they are trying to buy a dynasty. What does an extra $40-60 million for Bay matter to them. Damon may have turned out to be worth his contract, minus one year, but now it's his age and the likelihood of decline versus a very good hitter who may get better and is still fairly young.

I doubt that the Buy-A-Championship-At-Any-Cost-Yankees will lose a fart over dumping a player like Damon who says he's "loyal" to them. The steal is on.

Obviously,

Merlot

Poetic justice would be Damon finishing his career in Kansas City...:D

Damon is my choice, where did i say anything about a dynasty, and about Bay being a Key to a dynasty? i dont want Bay and dont think we need him, give Johnny D one year @ $10 million and if he refuses, well then time to cut him loose

Give Johnny 20 baseballs; line him up in mid LF and have him throw to home.
For every ball he gets to the catcher, within 5 feet of the plate on less than 2 bounces he gets $1M and 1 year...bye, bye...:p:D

Ok, may be he gets 1...;)

i swear your three cards short of a full deck
OMG,

You crack me up boy. You are so ornery and obtuse to whatever I say that you would now imply you don't want a dynasty, or in other words to keep on winning championships. WOW! Open your mouth...insert foot! DUH! How dumb was that. :D Yet I can understand how you would want to go back to losing. The Yankees have done so much of it it must begin to feel like being home. ;)

Dizzy boy,

Red Sox Offer Bay $60 Million

Multiple media outlets are reporting that the Red Sox have offered Jason Bay $60 million over 4 years, $15 million per year. Reportedly, if rebuffed by Bay, the Red Sox will make an offer to Matt Holliday. It's also being reported by SI that the Mets lust for Holliday, but that Holliday is not keen on playing in NY.

Boras Compares Damon To Jeter, Says No Hometown Discount For Yanks

I still cannot post any links (WTF??????????????????????) but the backpage headline of the New York Post screams, "He's An Idiot!", shows Damon's picture, and quotes Boras as comparing Damon to Jeter. Boras had to know that there would be a reaction to these comments, and it's an early sign that the Yankees will be using the monies saved on Damon and Matsui on either Bay or Holliday.

Boras Wants 4 Year Contract For Damon's services

Here is the link on the Boras/Damon story from the NY Post which I was able to paste using the Firefox Edit/Copy/Paste function as suggested by Fred Zed:

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/yankees/boras_compares_damon_to_derek_eyes_UAsknBm7ldSc0AKzcWs59L

Some very interesting information here. If Boras is looking for 4 years for Damon he is a crazed man. The Yankees only want Damon for another year until they can sign Carl Crawford, and if he does not sign for a year he can go elsewhere.

The Post is also suggesting that Wang could be back very cheaply and ready to pitch by early May at the latest. Between him, Hughes and Joba there has to be a #4 starter. So it does not seem to me like the Yankees will need to sign Lackey. What is more likely is a signing of Holliday or Bay.

I would prefer Holliday or a healthy Nady over Bay, anyways it looks like it will either be Boston or Seattle that wins his services unless the Yankees step up to the plate at the last second a la Texiera.

Revisionist History

Had anyone else competed for A-Rod at the time of his last extension he would have gotten that $350 million he and his agent asked for.

If you can't get the facts straight, don't post.

It was the Texas Rangers and Tom Hicks that put Boras on the map, not the Yankees. It was shortly after ARod's contract was signed in 2000 for 10 years and $252 million that Boras was featured on 60 Minutes. It should be noted that the Yankees ultimately got that contract but the Rangers paid a good chunk of it. It was Hicks that inflated contracts more than any other owner in baseball in this century.

When the contract was extended in 2007, A-Rod fired Boras after the opt out controversy in which Boras disobeyed A-Rod, and then negotiated directly with the Yankees and that is how he got his current deal. Boras had no role in those negotiations. He had been fired by A-Rod for disobeying his instructions which were to not opt out because A-Rod wanted to remain a Yankee. A-Rod then directly negotiated his current deal with the Yankees. There is likely no doubt that the Yankees got a hometown discount on the deal.

Damon should consider firing Boras, and submitting a 1 year proposal to the Yankees with a team and player option for the second year. $13 million plus incentives sounds fair to me.
