I disagree. If one makes a racist or misogynist statement, one risks being cancelled, losing one's job etc. As the choice in the voting booth is anonymous, one is free to indulge in one's baser instincts. I believe that Trump's strategy of "putting women and people of colour in their place" will be successful in winning the election. It's not a coincidence that he lost hugely to Biden in 2020, but is at worst even with Harris.
Incidentally, I have a rich cousin who is definitely neither a racist nor a misogynist. He's voting for Trump for the loosening of regulations pertaining to the the protection of the environment (freedom to pollute for his business) and reduced taxes.
It is called appâtage in French and its purpose to provoke strong comments and condemnation from the officialdom. He believes that it helps him to reinforce his fearless underdog image.
That's basically what it is. I noticed that Trump is now running commercials which prominently show him pumping his fist after his ear was shot through, and while his face was bloodied. This too reinforces the fearless underdog image as people head to the polls.
I get it, but why is he so popular and winning ? are we in the pre war periods and the USA citizens are so easily baited!
part of it is his opponent is bad and not likeable. The Democrats did not put out their most formidable candidate. And part is that some (or many) are using a "lesser of 2 evils" analysis.
Trump's brain, Stephen Himmler (sorry Miller) is or has planned the anti- immigration politics of a future Trump presidency.
Mass deportation, borders closure, detention centers build, random police raids.

In the Canadian thread you smashed Trudeau for his handling of the immigration in Canada yet you blame Trump and compare him with Hitler for planing to take good care of the immigration crisis on his side of the border.
The ‘’Kamala in, Trudeau out’’ movement isn’t a thing, the left sucks and it sucks from Miami all the way to Yellowknife.
Biden, Harris, Freeland and Trudeau have failed us they are the worst batch of elected officials these two countries ever had.

Strange they had 4 years to resolve the border crisis but are only making promises now to do it and still blaming Trump for it like for everything else they screwed up.
Anyway good news is for Dems if Trump wins they have at least 4 more years of TDS to look forward to and they can continue these 4-5 Trump bashing threads and have their happy little group sessions with all the like emojis.
What "extended rights" ? What it would have done is tighten the border with $20 billion in border security improvements. More border control officers. Faster adjudication of asylum claims. New emergency authority. The bill was killed by republicans because trump didn't want a border fix while Biden was president.

Another thing that is too much complex to understand by Trump supporters is the warning published by the Economist on the unacceptable risk to the economy to a second Trump Presidency.
