Traveling from NYC to Montreal

If you don't mind a train crowded with Haitian or Chinese families on board predominantly the there are shuttle busses,real cheap from the Haitian community in New York and also leaving from Chinatown here in NYC, sory I don't know the 411, but the rates are dirt chaep sometimes 1/4 of Amtrak.

Greyhound has a bus that leaves around every midnight and arrives at Montreal at 8 am. It is about $120 round trip. The way I look at it, you can go out to a few bars, watch some college football, and sleep it off and when you wake up your in Montreal. I am probably going to try this on my next trip and report back. Beats driving, cheaper, hopefully it will be empty.

AMTRAK is along rickety rockity like riding on a stage coach ride, I had a delay once.
Boarded in NYC penn station at 9AM got to Montreal central statin at 11 that night!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great scenery but will try greyhound or fly next time!

Totally agree, Amtrak was a horror show the last time I took it. Delays, delays, delays.....

I suggest you look into taking a Greyhound bus. I thinks it is $113.00 round trip and actually is quicker than AMTRAK. Go their website.

Round trip out of Newark airport for $160. $15 train fare to the airport from NYC. Amazing, all I did was sign up for Kayak's email alerts and it found it for me without having to do the research! Cheaper than driving and it only takes an hour and a half (flight time).

www.kayak.com is an amazing resource and because it mostly goes directly to the sale website (often times the airline itself) you don't have that worry about whether or not the website is reliable. I hadn't used the alerts yet, but from what you are saying, I am signing up for some deals tonight!
