While most in the US are waiting for their $1200/$2400/500 stimulus checks reports are coming in that dead folks are getting their funds. This happens for folks that died in 2018 but filed final returns since if not filed 2019 look to 2018.

Also those that don't have direct deposits and paper checks have to be mailed the Treasury printers all have to be redone since Trump declared his name has to be on the checks - in the Note section- since he doesn't have signature authority on the checks!

I am anxious to return to Canada once the travel ban is over but that is probably a few months off. I have a business meeting now scheduled in August in Toronto - originally in April and another planned trip to Monteal since its been about 15 years since last trip and reviews and updating my Montreal website.

A few months off?? Really??

I'd be surprised if Canada re-opens the border this year. It wouldn't surprise me if it remains closed until late 2021 and possibly even 2022. Right now the United States is too much of a health catastrophe & Trump is already trying to figure out a way to get the country running normally by May! What will likely happen is that several red states will re-open as he wants, he'll try to bully others into following his lead & it will only end up into more people getting sick, dying and then having to close the country again since the second wave of the virus may even be more lethal than the first wave.

I laugh when i hear Trump claim that his infamous 'wall' is keeping immigrants & caravans away from the southern border. I practically scream at the tv when i hear him say this "Hey dummy! Who the hell in their right mind would want to be in your diseased country right now??? That's why people are staying away and will stay away for many months & maybe years to come!"

Personally i'm hoping the border re-opens by next fall. I have several American friends whom i meet up with either in Toronto or Montreal and they're always fun times. One of the main reasons why i still travel to Montreal twice a year is to meet up with some of these friends. But honestly i can't see the border being re-opened until at least 2021. I hope i'm wrong.

I really hope they keep it closed.
I love going to the states and love that you all come up here
But it is definitely not under control for the states

I also laugh when I hear Trump talk about his wall to keep immigrants away. Today you have to be more than desperate to want to go to the USA.
On the contrary, it is the immigrants who no longer want to be in the USA.

Wow big divergence in opinion, I will bet things are 90% back to normal by the summer. Though the economic recovery will take longer.

Last four above, save for Mistral, are whacked ... TDS is alive and well in you all and except for Dave in Phonix, the other blokes don't even call America home ... yet the criticism of OUR President is astounding. Perhaps your self pleasure sessions are to photos of the great and wonderful white Obama you have there in Trudeau as opposed to ladies of the night?

Funny how, this china virus included, so SO many are flocking to this country via the southern border and NOT just as by-way through to Canada as their final destination. Why is that you wonder?

The fact that you ar hearing SO much about this china virus in the states is that our news monsters are salivating during an election year - Canada does not have one right now, do they, or perhaps just maybe ... more intel would be shared and lambasted over how things truly are across your fine and wonderful country.

My guess, as will Mistral, as the border will be back open before July and all the SPs will come out of hiding, needing to shave various parts that have been let go, and those without electric devices are horny has heck ... then it will be basic supply and demand that drives costing. Unless, of course, Sleepy Joe with all his chummy new endorsements continues to forget who he is, where he is, and what office he is running for ... then you will see china virus part II this fall ahead of the Nov election to help cheat the election for the worthless, sleazy, socialist democrats here in the States.

JMHO of course ....

The truly amazing thing is that in spite of the mountains of evidence of Trump's lies some poor souls still believe him.

At least at today's virus conference after the boring campaign speech for 20 minutes of Trump's same happy talk and how great he has done, he has deferred to the smart medical folks with very reasonable staged "guidelines" that make a lot of sense. And left it up to the Governors.

The US is not one cesspool, wide variations by states and regions. NY and the surrounding area are the worst. Arizona overall has a very low incidence per capital and is the brightest green on the one chart of relative risks (lowest). We have a huge problem on the Navaho sp? Indian reservation in N Ariz.

I believe the current US-Canada ban expires on May 10th. I do expect it to be continued another month or so.

I note on Air Canada I can book for my Toronto meeting in August and rates are cheap - only about $250 RT from Phoenix. Montreal also a lot less expensive although American usually cheaper then Air Canada My hope is to go to Montreal if things are more normal with companions before the Toronto Aug trip, although I doubt it.

My logical solution would be to have screened at the airport for flights to Canada with virus test kits which Trump lies about all the time since while the labs have excess capacity there are not enough reagents to do with testing with. Where in the US folks come from also different risks i.e. high from NY vs Kansas or Arizona. However, I suspect any open for travel would continue to be on a countrywide basis.

The group is here to stay. Good chance that if Trudeau did those things here you would hear nothing about it and if Trump did things Trudeau did you would hear an outrage.
Just my opinion.

Seeing as Trump loves to put his beautiful name on pieces of paper, the orange fucker should be made to sign every Covid-19 death certificate.

On the contrary, it is the immigrants who no longer want to be in the USA.

That infamous "Wall" he keeps refering to actually (if it's ever built) would keep people 'inside' the country, not the other way around. Just like the Berlin Wall did in its heyday. I mean, let's be serious: "who the fuck wants to spend a minute inside the United States right now? It's now one of the fucking worse places to be in on the entire planet! Literally!!"

The irony in all this is that the coronavirus is doing exactly what Trump & neo-nazi Stephen Miller wanted all along: it keeps immigrants or anyone else from wanting to set foot in their stinking diseased country! I love it!!

COVID-19: 1
TRUMP: 0

Trump wanting to "re-open" is all about politics & his desperate need to be re-elected. I can't really blame him for the desperation in wanting to get re-elected since it will buy him more time before seeing his criminal empire go down like a house of cards. Not only will his criminal empire finally fall but he'll likely get convicted for his crimes & it may also include his precious 'Ivanka' and her prince 'Jared'.

But all of this comes at a great cost to the American people. The people he's supposed to be serving & protect. Millions more will likely get infected by the coronavirus and tens of thousands more will die because of his corruption & also the one from several Republican governors (i'm looking at you DeSantis & Kemp). Were this not a presidential election year i can almost guarantee that the bodycount & the number of infections would be considerably lower than it is now & what it will end up beeing in the future. I don't think it's such a big coincidence that so few Americans have been tested for COVID-19. Trump & the Rethuglicans know that the higher the numbers the more it'll hurt them politically. Shame on them!!!

Border should be open by late summer is my guess.

I doubt it unless Trump & the Republican Governors who want to re-open the country too soon pull a 180 and keep the country closed for another few months. Re-opening the country now will only cause an even bigger catastrophe. People from neighbouring states still in lockdown will travel to states who have been re-opened prematurely & will bring back disease to their respective states only to cause more & more chaos.

Canada is very well aware of this & the provincial Premiers will continue lobbying the federal government into keeping Canada's border with the US closed down. However it wouldn't surprise me to see the Canada/Alaska border be re-opened within the next couple of months.

Agreed. I would even say late June.

But I'm sure I'll get bashed now from all these poli sci geniuses for opening the borders up to soon, making foolish comparisons to the Berlin Wall, Republicans, blah blah blah.

I agree with you.
Trump would have liked to open the borders with Canada. It's not a good idea, because we are not far from the borders of the state of New York, the state of Michigan and the state of New Jersey. Covid-19 states.

All democratic governors so you should have nothing to worry about.
