An Ohio woman is facing a child endangerment charge after her 2 year old toddler found a loaded gun in her purse and fired it at the local Walmart. Fortunately, no one was hit by the bullet that landed in the ceiling of the store.

Those high prices have got to come down, sorry couldn’t resist.
Seriously though why this insane love of fire arms in the US I will never understand.

An american teenager has been condemned to life in prison for the murder of 4 schoolmates in 2021.
He brought the 9mm pistol his parents gave him for his coming 15 years old anniversary.
He also injured 6 teenagers and his teacher.
His parents are indicted for involontary murders.
He is a white teenager from Michigan.
His teachers had been informed of their son search on pistol ammo but they didn't do nothing.

Israel is trying to arm his population to counter Hamas attacks.
Americans arm themselves to counter attacks by Americans.
Small difference but same effect !

Big help by the Supreme Court, Bump Stocks on semi-auto assault type rifles (AR-15, AK-47) that literally transform them in Full Auto firearms were prohibited during Trump Presidency.
The SC Judges reversed the ban.
Theses Bump Stocks were used by the Mass Murdered in Las Vegas that killed 60 and injured hundreds others during a country music festival.
Based on a technicality, the trigger must be moved for each shot. However, the shooter doesn't need to pull the trigger after the first shot, the Bump Stock does the job.
There videos on Youtube that show how it works.
Combine that with high capacity magazines and you have a weapon that should never be in the hands of Civilians.

Laws are ineffective against those who break them and enacting legal bans only hurt law-abiding citizens.

It’s not a coincidence that most mass shooters choose locations that have been designated as gun-free zones.

What exactly is “high” capacity? And if I am not a criminal why should it matter how many rounds my magazines hold? Maybe I need those extra shots to defend myself against multiple attackers. If I'm being attacked my assailant(s) likely planned their actions and have plenty of ammunition on hand.

In any case, putting restrictions on the responsible gun owner is not a viable solution.
I’m presently living in a city where you may find yourself on hold when calling 911, where the police recommend that you are prepared to defend yourself because they can’t respond quickly, you cannot impose a bunch of laws that will only be respected by the good guys. It would be all lovely and utopian if by declaring a law everyone would magically follow same but we all know this is not reality.

I mostly agree with you. I am a sport shooter and hunted most of my life small game, varmint and big game.
My government put almost extreme restrictions on the rights of law abiding citizens because he believes that criminals will respect them.
You may know where I live.
there is however a proven fact it is that there is infinetely more deaths and injuries by firearms in countries with the lowest restrictions on types of firearms, magazines capacity.
The best examples are our South neighbours, Usa and Mexico.
When did you hear of my shooting in schools in Canada ? Firearms don't kill by themselves, crazy peoples use them.

Correction: when did you hear of "mass" shooting in schools in Canada ?

Actually there were 2 mass shootings in schools in Montreal, Dawson College and L’ecole Polytechnique.

Statistics on gun violence are traditionally manipulated to support the objective of the presenter. Many people would be surprised to know that the number of gun-related homicides reported actually includes suicides, hunting accidents, self-defense incidents, etc.
Technically factual but the majority associate homicide with criminal homicide only.

I currently live in Las Vegas and sadly I cannot support your ideals in current times. The poverty and crime that is currently the reality for so many combined with an influx of immigrants with criminal backgrounds and ties on top of the smuggling of weapons into the country has made much of this city questionable safety-wise for a single woman on her own.

If I was attacked I should not be restricted to the number of rounds I have to defend myself.
I also don’t want to spend all my live fire training time reloading magazines.

The stark reality is you cannot model the US based on Canada, while we have many similarities the differences are also too drastic. Additionally, whether you agree with it or not, the second amendment is unique to the US and offers some protection for the rights of the people to exercise choice regarding gun ownership.

I am well aware of the mass shootings in Montreal. There was one in the Quebec parliament by a soldier in 1984 with an army submachine gun.
The first two along with one in Quebec city caused the lost of some of my rights to posess or use a couple of my firearms.
If I lived in USA, I wouldn't always feel safe even if I carried a handgun with high capacity magazines.
It's better than nothing but not very useful against a crazy guy with an AR-15 wearing a bullet proof vest or even a guy with a weapon like yours wearing a bulletproof vest.
Like I wrote before, statistically, the more pistols and assault rifles mean much more deaths and wounds.
Also, irresponsible parents cause the death of their own and other children.

If it is not guns it will be knives. There are so many stabbings in Canada these days. 30 years ago people would get into a fist fight and that was it. Nowadays a knife is almost pulled out.

^^^^^ See as in this example, 10 were killed and 15 injured with a killer using a knife.

^^^^^ Here in this example, a man used a van as a weapon to kill 8 people and 2 were injured in Toronto.

Point is the guns is not the issue, the people are. People kill people. This is to show there is a big problem with society. But remember crimes were at an all time high in the 70s. These things has its cycle. As for the 2nd amendment, whatever the justification every human being has a right to defend themselves, it is a human right. Even if you do not feel safe like you pointed out in this post, it still way better to have some defense vs nothing at all and sitting like a sitting duck.

Let me correct you, the Toronto mass murdered killed 8 women and 2 men.
He was an incel, frustrated because he didn't find women to have sex with !
I agree mostly with you about the use of knives. A first Nation Cree killed

A technical problem happened I think.
A First Nation Cree killed 11 persons and injured 17 on Sept 4 2022 in Saskatchewan with a knife.
Recently in Montreal, almost all murders and woundings have been made with knives too.
Domestic murders are too all done with knives.
What is Trudeau waiting to prohibit possession of knives ? LOLL !

Not sure if you are being sarcastic here. Having said that, banning knives would be a logistics failure. Knives are used as tools. How can you ban kitchen knives? What about machetes? A machete is an agricultural tool. Certain types of knives are not legal like automatic knifes of more then two inches and butterfly knives. But these weapons are so easy to conceal, I doubt bans will have much effect. Nutcases will find some way to kill whether it be a gun, a knife, or a car.

Evidently I was sarcastic. Like I wrote sometimes ago, knives are used in more murders and woundings in Canada since a long time.
Trudeau has been fighting law abiding citizens possessing legal firearms since he has been elected in 2015. With what results ? Illegal owners don't obey rules and more and more are building firearms with 3D printers and importing parts by mail.
Knives are more and more used in Montreal for murders of all kinds, more than firearms. Mostly in domestic violence.

Because the left are politicizing it. It was never about results, it was about getting votes.
