What are the biggest myths on hobbying?

I wanted to gauge the different views on what clients and SPs perceive as the biggest myths about hobbying. For example, is it really true that this is an extremely lucrative business for agencies and independent SPs?
What do you feel is the single biggest myth concerning this hobby? I would appreciate all respectful replies.

I think the biggest myth is that all sp's are drug addict.
It might have been the case years ago,but not anymore.
Many of them are straight.They use the money for studies,kids,and luxury.

Anyone can pay their rent or Mortgage with a normal job. I have a Mortgage too. If I was a drug addict, I would also have to suck cock!

They all have some issues. Spending habits, Drug problems, Family problems, BF problems, Gambling, Psychological issues etc.

Again a perfect example how naive a client can be when he falls for a working lady.

Some of them simply refuse to work 9 to 5 at average wages.
I've known some who seemed quite staright.

I agree with Nooky. Anyone can pay the rent with a real job. That reason is just scratching the surface of the real reasons. And as someone that did fall for a provider, consider me a fool.

I've never met an SP that didn't look at least as good as her pictures.

Im my experience the ratio is 50/50

And I've known more than a few who could discuss their field of study intelligently

I got into this business because I was burnt out. Now I am staying here because I enjoy the life it allows me to live and I like what I do for a living. I do not use drugs, I don't drink nor gamble, I have been with the same guy for 4 years now, my mom knows what I do for a living , being an SP has gotten me out of debt, and as for psychological issues, I am not crazy: my doctor told me! (The one who I was seeing when I was burnt out)

The myth: nobody is in this business by choice!

Another myth all clients use SPs because they are XXXXXX (fill in the blank, examples include: ugly, fat, old, socially inept, etc.). There are so many reasons!

One more myth: Most clients are married.

...and you have to remember this one: All clients are rich.

Myths used to keep prostitution illegal:

All prostiutes are victims.
They start in their teens.
Never had any other jobs.
None are educated.
All are addicts.
Prostitutes break up marriages.
Prostitutes spread disease.
Prostitutes need to be rescued.
We don't like sex.
We all hate men.

As soon as anybody says "ALL" you know it cannot be true. There are just as many reasons SPs do what they do as there are reasons the clients see us.

According to the myths I shouldn't be able to make a living in this business! I am too old, too short, too heavy, too small chested, over educated, ...

Remember the myth that all clients want 18 year skinny minis... none of you like curvy women or older women or ...

This is a very interesting thread.

I've been hobbying on and off for about 10 years. And let me preface my remarks by stating that I'm an American.

MOST (not all) of the dozen or so SPs I saw in the U.S. didn't strike me as interesting or intelligent people.

I have seen dozens of SPs in Canada, and the great majority of them have been interesting, intelligent women. Of course, I'm guessing the main reason is that being an SP doesn't carry the stigma in Canada that, sadly, it carries in America.

There have been many women in Canada, Montreal in particular, who've been so much fun to be with and talk to that I've been really, really sorry when the time ended. I cannot think of a single SP from the U.S. who I wasn't happy to show the door at the end of the session, and I would never even have considered an extended session with any of them.

When it comes to SPs who are both beautiful and interesting conversationalists, there is no question that Canada, and Montreal in particular, is the top choice.

I thank all of you for your great input! I personally feel the biggest myth of all is that SPs are dumb, strung out whores that only do this for the money. As you can see, most SPs contributing to this thread are very intelligent women who enjoy what they are doing.

Another big myth is that most clients are horny cockroaches that lack any compassion.

There are quite a few of these that I don't agree as being very pervasive, absolute, myths. I think the following are the most common and generalized:

- SPs are the victims and are typically ruled under an iron fist by a pimp
- Only the most ugly and morally bankrupt losers pay for sex
- The women in this industry are either strung out curb walkers or pornstar lookalikes -- certainly not the girl next door!
