Annie Galipeau

I watched the movie Grey Owl circa 1999. Good movie to watch if you don't have to pay for it. Posting here because you can't miss Annie Galipeau, an absolutely captivating lady. I Goggled her and found that she was born in Maniwaki, Quebec in 1979. She appears to have made 2 movies, Grey Owl & Map of the Human Heart. One TV Series "Shehaweh". Other than that a few pics, a public service announcement and that's it. It's like she dropped off the face of the earth. Can anyone fill in the blanks for me?

P.S. even though the reviews panned her in this film, I thought she actually drove the film quite well.

A few days ago i saw "The Call". It stars Halle Berry in the role of a 911 dispatcher. The main story involves a serial killer & there's tons of suspense & action. I really liked this movie! The first hour was riveting, the second hour so-so and kind of far-fetched. It was nice to see actor Morris Chestnut (he played the football star in 'Boyz n' the Hood') once again. He plays a cop who is Berry's boyfriend. I recommend this movie!

And over past couple of days, I was doing some cleaning up in my PVR and decided to watch two movies: 'RED' and 'LOOPER'.

RED was fairly entertaining. Typical action movie starring Bruce Willis as the main character, with Morgan Freeman, Helen Mirren, Richard Dreyfuss & a cast of others in supporting roles. He plays a former CIA agent trying to avoid being assassinated, and his former gang comes out of retirement to help him out. I recommend it for fans of action movies. There's currently a sequel out in movie theatres. Not sure yet if i'll go see it.

And finally, i watched LOOPER the other day. To my great surprise, i loved it!! I didn't expect it to be this type of movie at all!! It's a futuristic sci-fi drama action movie which involves time-travelling which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt (i love her!) in the starring roles. Basically, it's about an assassin (Levitt) who's part of a grup of 'loopers', as they're called in the future, who meets is future self (Willis) and needs to pull the trigger to assassinate him, but something goes wrong during the confrontation & the chase is on.

This movie has had rave reviews ever since it's original release. I haven't seen a single negative review year. It constantly received 4 to 4.5 out of 5 stars from most movie critics and fans alike. The story is brilliant & the movie was brilliantly done by script writer/director Rian Craig Johnson. It debuted last year at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was a huge hit with the viewing public. I loved it and i highly recommend it!

p.s. While viewing the movie, i wasn't sure i was watching Joseph Gordon-Levitt, whom i first saw in 'Inception', and then in 'The Dark Knight Rises' and in 'Lincoln'. He looked facially different than how i remembered him. However, it was indeed the same actor, but something appeared different about him. I finally discovered what it was when i read one of the movie's reviews after i had viewed the film: they made him look facially different in order to make him look similar to Bruce Willis. And indeed, it is totally believable that he'd look like Bruce Willis in 30 years since the make-up people did create a resemblance!

By the way, the actor who plays the young kid in the movie was absolutely brilliant in my opinion. He has quite a future in show business if you ask me!

I had the pleasure to see Pacific Rim before it ended in Theater. What a cool movie it was ! Sure lots of things in the plot had to make you suspend your disbelief, and i am not just talking about Giant robots fighter Godzilla-lyke Monsters. But if you could do that, great entertainement value and spectacular on the big screen.

As for movies in general, i watch a lot of them, many per weeks, i review a lot of them on IMDB for that matter. Next see in theater is probably gonna be The Wolverine, should be entertaining.

Bet Raise Fold.

Not a movie but a documentary about online poker. I was never into poker but after seeing this well made doc, I can see how poker exploded so quickly in the 2000s and how it all came crashing down and the possible rebirth. Plus my new found dislike for the nutty hypocritical right wing.

Two Guns

Somewhat confusing plot to this movie, which is completely overcome by the great performances of both Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg - the two stars have unusually good chemistry with each other. One of the funnier action films I have seen in a while.

Watched "The Last Gladiators" this afternoon. Absolutely riveting!!!!

It's a documentary on hockey's former enforcers.....stars the likes of Chris Nilan, Marty McSorley, Tony Twist, Donald Brashear, among many others. Nilan is the star of the movie, by far!!

I couldn't stop watching it once i started. Any hockey fan will likely find this documentary absolutely great!

Looper was great up until the end where they completely ruined the movie. They take such care with the intricacies of time travel and in the end, they totally ignore all the 'laws' they set up and adhered to so carefully during the movie.

RED was a lot of fun. Seeing such a distinguished actress as Helen Mirren having a great time in that movie was a real pleasure. I won't pay to see the sequel, but I'll be sure to watch it on video.

The Last Gladiators is a must see for any hockey fan. In the same vein, but obviously nowhere near as serious was GOON, a great attempt to make a mainstream hockey movie.

Expendables 1 and 2

In the past week I watched Expendables 1 and Expendables 2 on DVD. E-2 is definitely better than E-1. Better story, better expansion on the elements of the franchise, interesting characters, more humor. Chuck Norris and Jean Claude Van Damme added something to D-2, and Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarznegger had bigger roles. I liked the Maggie Chang character as well. There were more gags and better one liners and some playful dialogue which played upon some of the character's own past movies. This mostly involved Arnold but Willis as well. Sly Stallone's character was nicely developed in E-2. He is the mercenary with a heart.

The problem is you have to see E-1 in order to completely understand E-2. This is due to the connection with the Willis character developed in E-1. This plot connection with Willis's character gets expanded on in E-2, but if you did not see E-1, you will not totally get the Willis character's involvement in E-2. The Arnold character is also related to the involvement of the Willis character.

I look forward to Expendables 3 in August 2014, even though Willis will not be in it, which according to Stallone is because Willis is "greedy and lazy". http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/...asts-bruce-willis-as-greedy-and-lazy/2627221/

By the ways, the Dolph Lundgren "Gunner" character somewhat reminded me of the character of Oliver Kloseoff.

I caught the last hour and a half of The Master (2012) on the movie channel. Joachim Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman star is this quite unusual film about a sort of L. Ron Hubbard character (the founder of Scientology). The film got panned by reviewers but it certainly has its astonishing moments and is certainly worth recording on your digital PVR if you have one.

Saw this comedy a few nights ago on The Movie Network, it was in French with English subtitles. Extremely entertaining. There's a long scene towards the end with a therapist that was comedic genius.

Saw Oblivion this weekend. Tom Cruise played Tom Cruise as he does in most of his flicks. The visuals on this one have to be seen to be appreciated...Outstanding. Basic plot was excellent although it could have been better developed and I came away thinking that they could have done this one so much better. Tom Cruise carried the pic as the balance of the cast turned in only so-so performances, including a disappointing outing by Morgan Freemen.

Something kept bothering me about Olga Kurylenko http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1385871/?ref_=tt_cl_t3 through the entire film. Then it dawned on me that she looks remarkably similar to Annie Galipeau (https://www.google.com/search?hl=en... biography&revid=1121434157&tbm=isch&imgdii=_ ). The difference being Annie Galipeau can act :lol:

All in all, this flick was good, even very good, but not great. It could have been great, but not as profitable I'm guessing.

I finally saw Requiem for a Dream, and it confirms why I am a big fan of Darren Aronofsky because I enjoyed Black Swan and The Wrestler, now I have yet to see PI and The Fountain.

And I also saw Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father, and at the end, I cried, I mean I never crie for a movie but damn at the end of the documentary, I end up having tears and chills, this is how powerful that documentary was.

Two good movies I saw recently on Netflix, although they are a few years old (I always wait before reviewing movies, so as to be totally objective)

The Hangover 2. Hilarious throughout and not a dull moment. It has Jamie Chung, a smoking monkey, a tranny pornstar, a patying monk, and Mike Tyson.

Far North: A woman and her adopted daughter live a solitary life away from civilization, until they rescue a wounded soldier. And then, well the ending is pretty surprising so I won't spoil it. A slow movie, with Very beautiful polar scenery, but also violent and gory. It has two beautiful asian actresses: Michelle Yeoh (older now but still kinda hot) and Michelle Krusiec. I always had this fantasy of a threesome with a mother/daughter duo in a primitive tent on the frozen tundra.

Parker.

Pretty cool flick. The guy doesn't get the girl at the end because he already has a girl.
