The best recent movie that i've seen is "Elvis". It stars Austin Butler in the title role & Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker. Butler previously played the role of Tex Watson in the great Tarantino movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I found his performance in "Elvis" to be nothing short of fantastic!
Although i loved the movie very much the biggest beef i had with it was that it could have been longer. It flew by too fast although is running time is 159 minutes. Of course movies longer than two hours tend to turn off audiences & that's likely why it was kept at 2 1/2 hours instead of 3 hours.
Last night i watched 'Memory'. It stars action favorite Liam Neeson, Guy Pierce & Monica Bellucci. Neeson plays an aging hitman showing signs of dementia & he realizes it's time to get out of the killing business. It was directed by Martin Campbell & it was an enjoyable movie to watch (just not as good as 'Elvis'). Although it has a big names in its cast & a big-name director the movie will not win any Oscars. Neeson seems to play the same character in his movies over & over. I'm not complaining since i love his movies. But his days of playing great characters like Oskar Schindler, Michael Collins & Jean Valjean seem like ages ago.
