Last time I really enjoyed a movie and actually showed up at the theater was going to see The Martian in 2015. Lol
Martian was good (saw it at least twice in theatres, lol).

I think the next "big" event for theatres will be Avatar 2. That's yet another movie that's "must-see" see in theatres (especially in IMAX 3D).

I don't think it'll beat Top Gun 2 for me, but for sure I'll at least check it out once that way. Too bad we don't have 4DX in Montreal. Avatar 2 seems like the perfect movie for it <shrug>.

Three Thousand Years Of Longing by George Miller (made the Mad max films) with Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton. Surreal, like The Shape of Water.

Not a new film at all (from 1993), but definitely a classic.

Btw, Michael Mann just co-wrote a sequel novel to the movie.

Not a recent movie but I finally watched Saw for first time ever and I was blown away by it, lol...especially the finale scene.

This film is a lot smarter than I thought it would be and not just a gore fest.

Btw, i'm a fan of horror movies. Who likes horror?

The best recent movie that i've seen is "Elvis". It stars Austin Butler in the title role & Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker. Butler previously played the role of Tex Watson in the great Tarantino movie "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I found his performance in "Elvis" to be nothing short of fantastic!

Although i loved the movie very much the biggest beef i had with it was that it could have been longer. It flew by too fast although is running time is 159 minutes. Of course movies longer than two hours tend to turn off audiences & that's likely why it was kept at 2 1/2 hours instead of 3 hours.

Last night i watched 'Memory'. It stars action favorite Liam Neeson, Guy Pierce & Monica Bellucci. Neeson plays an aging hitman showing signs of dementia & he realizes it's time to get out of the killing business. It was directed by Martin Campbell & it was an enjoyable movie to watch (just not as good as 'Elvis'). Although it has a big names in its cast & a big-name director the movie will not win any Oscars. Neeson seems to play the same character in his movies over & over. I'm not complaining since i love his movies. But his days of playing great characters like Oskar Schindler, Michael Collins & Jean Valjean seem like ages ago.

Yes, ever since Taken, (his last big hit) Neeson has been typecast as an aging hitman or special forces guy for a decade now lol

Justice League Snyder’s Cut - too bad we will not see how this all play out
Man of Steel - saw it and so underrated. And that soundtrack. Hans Zimmer is a genius

Zack Snyder’s stuff you don’t appreciate it until years later after release. Then you realize oh my goodness this is a masterpiece

I just watched Pig - Nicholas Cage plays a man who loses a pig.

Here's one of the best scenes of the movie - Nick is not trying to hurt his friend, but slowly peels away each layer of artifice:

Top Gun 2 is better than Top Gun 1, imo.

Better action. Cooler fighter jets
Don't forget the technology is way better now, in terms of filming.

Before they had to use green screen for all the cockpit scenes. Now, they can actually fit the camera inside the cockpit, and film it real.

It's not the actor flying the plane of course (he's sitting in the passenger seat), but you get to see how those scenes play out in real life.

Blonde......terrible, boring and dark. Depressing too.
Ana de Armas deserves an Oscar though.

Technically and aesthetically it`s like an abstract work of art......you love it or hate it.
No neutrality about it. Marilyn is not a sex symbol she is a shattered child in this movie. The sex is hard to watch as is the self- inflicted violence to her psyche. You don`t idolize her but pity her.
I didn`t enjoy watching this movie but then again, I`m glad that I did.

I watched some of it last night. I gave up after 45 minutes & figured i’d watch the rest of it later tonight or tomorrow. You took the words right out of my mouth. I’d add that it’s also a very long movie. I’ve been anticipating to watch it for quite a while.
