You need to watch both movies back to back smile 1 and 2, I love the first movie and how the second one starts is so amazing. I know realize i have no life this is how many movies i rated in the last 10 years on IMDB 3786 movies rated hahahha and i still find movies i did not rate every week.
Well i took your advice & last night i rewatched both movies back-to-back & omg am i glad i did! Wow! I realized that i didn’t remember 90% of the first movie & wow! What a great horror movie it is! Unbelievable acting performance by the main actress! But i took your advice & re-watched the sequel immediately afterwards & now the beginning totally makes sense! I hadn’t realized until re-watching it that the character from the opening scene is the same character at the end of the first movie! The opening sequence of the sequel rem8mded me of what they did with Casino Royale & Quantum of Solace: it’s really two movies in one! Almost like Kill Bill Vol 1 & Kill Bill Vol 2! Anyways although i said last week that i had enjoyed Smile 2 very much i ended up enjoying even more re-watching again right after having re-watched Smile!

The Guest (2014)
Just finished watching this mystery thriller starring Dan Curtis & Maika Monroe. Reason i watched it is because i’m becoming a big fan of these two actors who seem to perform in exciting movies & whose performances are A-1 everytime i see them on screen. I discovered Dan Curtis is the absolutely fantastic british tv series Downton Abbey & ever since he moved to Hollywood he seems to have a knack for chosing movie roles with great scripts. He seems to have a knack of stealing every scene he’s in. Curtis now has a long list of Hollywood movies ever since he moved to America in 2012. As for Maika Monroe i’ve recently discovered her in It Follows, Watcher & now The Guest. I really liked this movie & watched it on Prime.

Watcher (2022)
Suspensful movie starring my new favorite actress Maika Monroe. Young people moves to Romania & they learn that there’s a serial killer of women on the loose. Her character notices a guy always in the window across the street at night & begins to feel like she’s being followed by some strange dude & thinks he’s also the same guy she sees in the window at night. She seems to get even more paranoid as the days go by & her husband & a cop start to wonder if she’s delusional, paranoid or going insane. I really enjoyed this movie & along with Dan Stevens (another favorite actor of mine) i can’t remember a scene or movie they haven’t been great in. By the way i’m told that a sequel to the brilliant It Follows will be released in a few months. I hope that she’s in that movie also.

Carry-On (2024)
Watched this last night & loved it! Stars Taron Egerton & Jason Bateman about a TSA agent (Egerton) facing a terror crisis at an airport on Xmas Eve. Bateman plays the vilain. Since i love these type of movies anyways i absolutely loved the movie & ot reminded me a bit of Die Hard & other similar movies where a terrorist type tries to manipulate an innocent bystander in order help him accomplish his mission/terror plot. Lots of suspense, lots of action. I love pretty much everything Jason Bateman appears in so watching this movie was rather easy. Loved it!

My only problem with the summary you gave is how can you cast Jason Bateman as a villain? His whole key to his stardom is his comic acting as exemplified in Arrested Development and Ozark. Is he a villain with a dry sense of humor? Unless this is so, he doesn't seem to be playing to his strength here.

I did see this movie in my queue, but didn't realize Bateman was cast as a villain. I figured he would be the funny guy sitting across the aisle.

I consider him as a vilain in Ozark. Similar to Walter White’s character in Breaking Bad. Nice guy who turns bad when he gets involved with the drug business, loads of money coming in, power, murders, etc.
But he’s such a good actor that whatever type of role they give him he’ll be good at it.
Ever see The Gift? At first he seems like a great family man but it turns out he’s a fucking mean sociopath!
Loved his performance in The Outsider, where he plays a baseball coach accused of murdering a young kid. I just loved that miniseries. By the way i think he aced the vilain role in Carry-On. His performance is the highlight of the movie. He steals every scene he’s in!

I considered his character in Ozark to be more victim than villain, but his character never loses his sense of humor, even when being tortured. I agree that Bateman is a very talented actor. He was great in Ozark. Nobody could have played the character like he did.

The Beast Within (2024)
Horror/mystery/suspense starring Kit Harrington, Ashley Cummings & Caolling Spindall. The movie is shown from the perspective of the little girl who’s father (Harimgton) is implied to turn into a werewolf-like beast at night & is therefore brought to the middle of a nearby forrest at night until daylight. There is a major twist ending which makes you re-think the entire movie which in my opinion has made me enjoy the movie more. I liked the movie & went back to re-watch some of the key scenes afterwards.

You did not mention that the movie is on Hulu, which is kind of important, because if it is not on one of Hulu, Netflix or Prime, I can't see it. I will check it out.

Apartment 7A (2024)
Horror/drama starring Julia Garner about a young dancer from Nebraska hoping to make it in the Big Apple after suffering a devastating injury to one of her legs. She ends up meeting a generous older couple who offer to help her & take her in as a guest in the building they live in. However her life takes a turn when the various people she meets are not what they seem to be. This movie is a prequel to the Roman Polanski horror film Rosemary’s Baby (1968) where Garner’s character was one of the minor characters in the Polanski movie along with some of the other characters we meet along. The building she lives in where all the supernatural stuff happens was slso the same apartment building from the original movie. The movie may be better of you haven’t seen Rosemary’s Baby yet i ended up re-watching parts of Rosemary’s Baby after watching this movie & it turned out to make me enjoying it more & led me to re-watch scenes of Apartment 7A. If you enjoy movies of the psycho-horror type then you’ll enjoy this movie with one of the young rising female actors in the movie business who once had a big part in the fantastic Ozark tv series.

I watched this movie tonight. It does fall into the Die Hard genre and it's reasonably entertaining, but the basic premise of the movie is a bit preposterous. We are asked to believe that sophisticated international terrorists would threaten ordinary citizens into executing critical elements of a criminal enterprise while under extreme pressure. I don't really believe any sophisticated international terrorist group would rely on ordinary citizens operating under the pressure of extreme personal threats to perform and competently execute a series of criminal actions which require a great deal of poise.

Jason Bateman as one of the villains is the main redeeming feature of this film. This is really the first pure villain Bateman has played, but it's up Bateman's alley as the character is glib and does have a sense of humor, albeit a twisted one.

Overall I would give it a C or C+. There are a few interesting and well done action scenes, including one where a Los Angeles police officer and a villain struggle to gain control of the wheel of a speeding vehicle.

Woman Of The Hour (2023)
Crime thriller starring Anna Kendrick in her directorial debut about the true life story of a serial killer who appeared on the popular Dating Game tv show in 1978. She portrays struggling actress Sheryl Bradshaw who appeared on the tv show in the same episode serial killer Rodney Alcala appeared on as ‘bachelor #3’. At the time the show was filmed he had already murdered at least 5 young women. After the story became known Alcala was from then on better known as the Dating Game Killer. I ended up really enjoying this movie & recommend it. It received positive reviews from movie watchers & many crirics praised Kendrick’s direction style. I concur. Authorities later estimated that Alcala may have murdered up to 130 people in total including a 21 yr old woman & a 12 year old girl while out on bail after being caught the first time.

Office Christmas Party (2016)
I anticipated watching this movie because of its great cast such as Jason Bateman, Jennifer Anniston, Kate McKinnon, Olivia Munn & Courtney B. Vance. However for me although it had its funny moments the movie was a huge disappointment. The movie pretty much lost me in the final 10-15 minutes. Throughout the movie the best moments were countered by too many ridiculous & absolutely unbelievable situations. I hope there’s no sequel!

The Substance (2024)
This may be the best movie I’ve seen all year. The movie is about a fading celebrity who decides to go ahead & take a black market drug whose purpose is to temporarily create a younger & better version of yourself. I’m not going to add more to the plot since i might risk ruining the movie for you if you haven’t seen it already.

Directed by Coralie Fargeat & starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley & Dennis Quaid the movie is billed as an horror/sci-fi filled with nudity & gore. If i didn’t know better i’d swear that it was directed by either David Cronenberg or his son Brandon. Some scenes kind of reminded me of some of my all-time favorite movies like Alien, The Thing & Carrie. The movie received high praise at various movie festivals around the world & from movie critics. Some even suggested it could be Demi Moore’s best performance ever although i’m partial to her performance in G.I. Jane.

For those who don’t know the beautiful Margaret Qualley is actress Andie McDowell’s daughter. I remember seeing her in the fantastic Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She played the part of the Manson girl who hitchikes a ride from the Brad Pitt character & offers to suck his cock. Her performance in the movie is brilliant & her best role yet! Dennis Quaid has a supporting role in this movie & plays one of those shady tv producers. He’s very good in this role! The movie was written & co-produced by the director Ms. Fargeat. Is she the next Quentin Tarentino? Or is she the next Cronenberg? The movie is 2 hrs & 20 minutes & it’s an American, French & British collaboration. It’s the type of horror/sci-fi movie that you’ll likely remember for years & may one day end up among the classic films of the horror/sci-fi genre. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! 5 out of 5 stars!
