My only problem with the summary you gave is how can you cast Jason Bateman as a villain? His whole key to his stardom is his comic acting as exemplified in Arrested Development and Ozark. Is he a villain with a dry sense of humor? Unless this is so, he doesn't seem to be playing to his strength here.
I did see this movie in my queue, but didn't realize Bateman was cast as a villain. I figured he would be the funny guy sitting across the aisle.
I consider him as a vilain in Ozark. Similar to Walter White’s character in Breaking Bad. Nice guy who turns bad when he gets involved with the drug business, loads of money coming in, power, murders, etc.
But he’s such a good actor that whatever type of role they give him he’ll be good at it.
Ever see The Gift? At first he seems like a great family man but it turns out he’s a fucking mean sociopath!
Loved his performance in The Outsider, where he plays a baseball coach accused of murdering a young kid. I just loved that miniseries. By the way i think he aced the vilain role in Carry-On. His performance is the highlight of the movie. He steals every scene he’s in!
