Heat with DeNiro and Pacino

Awesome LA crime saga, with a very exciting storyline all the way through, excellent acting, and great directing.

I haven't watched it in a while, but after first seeing it in the theatres in 1995, I must have watched it again at least 20 times afterwards.

Tonight I'm gonna watch Oldboy (2003) for the zillionth time. One of my personal top 10 movies of all time.
Here is the review from the late Roger Ebert: http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/oldboy-2005
Couple of lines from his review:
"In its sexuality and violence, this is the kind of movie that can no longer easily be made in the United States"

funny considering Spike Lee did remake it years after that review and it bombed horribly, so Ebert was proved correct in a way.

Koreans arguably do edgy better, and much better. "Lies" had a big buzz around it when it came out

saw it in a theater, sat in back row and was amazed and amused at the parade of people that walked out at various points as the "voluntary sexual violence" escalated. They couldn't easily make this one in the US either, it would probably end up looking like that 50 shades movie.

Note: I won't go as far as saying that those movies deserve multiple viewings... far from it. Except OB. So bring a bucket if you're watching on a full stomach and enjoy :)

but some may need multiple viewings; it can be hard to appreciate other stuff happening when someone is graphically being eaten alive on screen, typically most disturbing 1st time through even if it's only by a big fish, a and especially if by another person

list copied and saved :thumb:

Eeeeeh! How could I forget Pride and Prejudice??? I refuse to acknowledge the Keira Knightly version and Colin Firth is the only true Mr. Darcy :)

Yes. Fight Club is an awesome flick. Agree with the Ocean's series. One is the best the third was okay since it is back to Vegas. The second one don't really care for because the film stabs itself on its own weight and "intelligence."

Red Corner

I watched this movie again just earlier and although i've probably seen it 4-5 times over the years, it keeps getting better every time i re-watch it. I'd even go as far as saying that it's one of Richard Gere's best performances.

It's about an American business who is set-up for the murder of a beautiful chinese woman he just had sex with and we see him in a chinese prison and then in a chinese court. The 'system' is out to get him and he's represented by an attractive young female lawyer.

It's a very good movie and i highly recommend it.
