I agree 100%. He was a supreme athlete. He had size, speed, power. And in baseball, he had a cannon for an arm.

The immortal Sasha Grey!!! For such a petite lady she had far more athleticism and skills to compliment her endless repertoire of moves than all the other athletes combined. The only reason she didn't compose an opera and build a cathedral at the same time is she was having to much fun to bother. Certainly no one ever had a more gorgeous or more giving ass. Try saying that about anyone else mentioned.

Very COOL isn't. Back in the late 80s and early 90s I would go to baseball autograph shows. I met 80 to 90 players in general of whom 40 to 45 (half or so) were hall of famers including Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Warren Spahn, Carl Yastrzemski, Yogi Berra, Ralph Kiner, Ernie Banks, Robin Roberts, Don Drysdale, Harmon Killebrew, Frank Robinson, etc.
One of my favorite signatures is Charles Gehringer, though I didn't meet him, who played with Ty Cobb. The word from other collectors was send him a few bucks with a properly stamped self-addressed return package and he will sign and send it back. He did.

Bo Jackson was an all star in two major professional sports and had he not developed hip problems and focused on one sport there is no telling what he could have done.
As far as dominant athletes in one sport I select Michael Jordan. Had he not played baseball 2 years it is possible he actually could have won 8 NBA titles in a row. I pick Mike because he dominated at both ends and he was a champion in college, the Olympics and the NBA.

I loved the Gordie Howe story. He was a superman of sorts. He was in the twilight of his career when I saw him but my dad always had story's for me. He certainly could

In football it would be Charles Woodson who won a Heisman at Michigan. The interceptions were so magical they had to play him on offense. Barry Sanders was the best running back I had ever seen at any level. Defenders were happy to get a shoe.

He probably could have outpunched Floyd Patterson from 1956 to 1962 but I don't think he could have outboxed him, and he probably could have outboxed Rocky Marciano from 1949 to 1956 but I don't think he could have outpunched him.

You are well informed about this great athlete ,have you also followef his WHA tenure with the Houston Aeros ?

Yes Booker...more greatness: He came out of retirement to play with his sons Mark and Marty. In his 4 seasons with the Aeros, he scored 100 or more points twice and 99 once. His "worst" season with the Aeros was "only" 68 points - which he scored in 62 games at the age of 49!!!!!!
After coming out of retirement and at the age of 46 (!!!!!!!!!!) he was the MVP of the WHA! After that, the league re-named the MVP trophy in his honor!
In his 4 years with the Aeros they won the Avco Cup (the WHA's equivalent of the Stanley Cup) twice and lost in the finals once.
He also played 2 years with the New England Whalers and in his 6 years in the WHA, ending at the age of 51 (!!) he recorded 508 points in 409 games.
He then went on to play one final year - back in the NHL with the Hartford Whalers - and played at the age of 52.
When he was 50 years old he played in the WHA All Star Game on a line with his son Mark and Wayne Gretzky. When he was 51, in his final NHL season, he played in the NHL All Star Game and recorded an assist. He played in All Star Games in the 40s,50s,60s,70s and 80s!
No athlete in ANY sport has come close to what this man accomplished!

Longevity and consistency that showed will never be duplicated .
Playing against young atlete in top shape 25 to 30 years younger then you is not a easy task .
But not only was he playing he was still a elite player a real phenom .
