You actually have much experience in that department.... lol... enjoy 4th or last place again this season my friend.

Lemme ask you this, when the Yanks are still one of the better teams in the AL come allstar break and the red sox are yet again looking towards "next year" by the same time period, will you fade away again or at least grace us all with your expertise (hmmm) in the baseball threads? I think Joe needs to make a prediction on that one!

The inner workings of the mind of a dumpster diver.

The same question could be asked of the Yankees fans here when they're gone by the ASB! Lol.

Actually, K, you gotta give my boy, Iggy, some credit there. After all, it's not like he hasn't been posting in the hockey threads since before the time of Christ.

I'm shocked, shocked to learn that Travis Hafner is hurt. (Wonder what Cashdollar will fish out of the dumpster today.)

This is the same rumpleforeskin who has forecasted the Red Sox to finish ahead of the Yankees each of the last 4 seasons, being wrong each time?

Wrong about the Sox, to be sure. Right about the $2 billion (with a B) Yankees every year but one since the turn of the century. As Derek Jeter says and George Steinbrenner said...when you spend this kind of dough, anything short of a ring is total failure. And losing 85 games with a $228,000,000 roster would be the biggest failure yet.

RIP Bullet Bob Turley and Gus Triandos.

Turley and Triandos were traded for each other as part of a 15 player deal during the 1954-55 offseason, Turley going to the Yankees, Triandos to the Orioles. Triandos, a catcher, became one of the great and best loved Orioles of all time while Turley helped anchor the pitching staff of the Yankee dynasty of the late '50s, winning the Cy Young in 1958.

Triandos died Thursday at 82. Turley this morning, also 82. They were born five weeks apart in 1930. Two very good ballplayers linked in death as in life.

Stephen A. Smith makes some good points and my thoughts exactly. This can be a good thing for the older guys to get healthy for a run at another WS.

Excellent points by Stephen A., the two best being that the Yankees are able to "rest" their veteran players the 1st half which, if they are in striking distance at the All Star game, means those guys will not be worn down when they return and play a half season, and secondly this team is built for the way Girardi wants to manage: "small ball." Most of the guys the Yankees picked up were high character/pride and guts type guys who Girardi wants on his team. Prima Donnas need not apply for any Girardi coached teams.

The other thing is, Vernon Wells played well this spring, and if the guy is healthy, which he apparently was, he is someone who has hit 30 homers in multiple seasons in the past and guys like that do not grow on trees, and if you need power, you get them.

Although he has a pompous delivery, I think Stephen A. is a very bright sports analyst, although basketball is really his sport.

Something you dont seem to understand is Yanks fans as a whole want a team that can compete year in year out for a Ring, but we also, as being the most educated fans in the game understand it will not happen every season and just give us a shot is what we ask for from management, something every fan wishes for yet not all get that in sports. (see Marlins fans more ofton than not) I am lucky i root for 3 teams in 3 sports that have excellent management these days.

Actually, Yankee fans are the most entitled in the history of professional sports. They, for the most part, feel that a world championship is their birthright. That's why they're unable to comprehend that Cashman has delivered a $228 million bunch of has-beens.

ROFLMAO.

I thought you were a Maple Leafs fan. When did you switch your allegiance?

Hank Greenberg also hit 30 home runs numerous times, but is quite unlikely to this year.

So you know all of the multi millions of Yankees fans now? Man you are a legend , well.................

On another note, since you love those spring stats sooooooo much, it seems Ryan "CY" Demptser is back into suckie mode in the AL per his last start, hey, I AGREE! :thumb:

2 days "boyzzzz" ;)

When you look at Spring stats, you have to look at them through the filter of who was the player performing against. For example, if Buchholz and Lester had thrown to 3.50 ERAs, I'd be pretty pleased, but you'd have to wonder about the competition. On the other hand, if, say, RA Dickey had a bad Spring, you might wonder if he was working on something new and didn't really care about the results. As for those two Sox pitchers, they were concerned about results coming off of last year. When you look at their Spring stats, the answer about who they were successful against, the answer is also clear: everybody.

Vernon "Take me Please" Wells hit four home runs this Spring. Who did he hit them against? The first was hit off Hiram "Who" Burgos, a minor league pitcher in the Brewers organization with 8 starts above AA. The second was off Ryan Cook, a young pitcher, now the Oakland closer, with a good track record, but a pretty awful Spring. He hit his third off Luke Hochevar, once the first overall pitcher in the draft, now one of the worst pitchers in the American League, with a career 5.39 ERA. He hit the fourth off former major leaguer, the corpse of Freddie Garcia. Needless to say, my dear friend iggy, could have taken three of these bums deep, and, according to the scouting reports, iggy's best days are long behind him. Too many curveballs, too many cheeseburgers.
