What's the connection between screening and cancellations?
The connection is disrespect in my opinion.. When clients refuse to screen, it feels disrespectful to me, although I am very lenient about screening and accept the bare minimum, and I don't even ask for a deposit. Same thing with cancellations, a lot of the time I get no call no shows and last minute cancellations for reasons that could have easily been predicted or prevented. It's not just on the provider side that there are issues, I think we all need to respect and work together.

Ah, my bad. I thought you meant that there is a correlation between those that don’t screen also being no shows.

I really don’t get why clients debate / negotiate about screening. If you aren’t willing to do certain screenings, just save yourself and the SP some time and move to another provider. That’s how I do it.

Yeah there is definitely a correlation. A few years ago, I didn't have enough regulars to afford screening every new client (because too many would refuse and I was potentially missing out on income I really needed).

So I had a TON of fake bookings and no-shows. Men who intent to waste our time aren't too fond of the idea of screening, and also it's often going to be the same guy with different numbers (looking at my myterious crazy merb stalker lol), screening makes it harder to repeatedly waste the same person's time

When I made a name for myself and eventually started screening every new client, because I could afford to, the amount of fake bookings and no shows decreased drastically. I very rarely get those now, compared to before I started screening. And I only ask for deposit or reference or a merb handle, so I can imagine providers who ask for even more get even less time wasters.

To put it into perspective : Some time in 2017 I made less than 1000$ in one entire month despite having multiple bookings every day. Because I didn't screen and 90% of those bookings were fake bookings from my stalker.

Now in 2024 I can make 1000$ with one booking and I've had probably less than 10 fake bookings since the beginning of the year. I'm sure experience and having regulars plays a part but screening made the biggest difference.

There definitely is a correlation between clients who don't screen and no shows or disrespectful or aggressive behaviour in my experience.
I agree, clients should read your screening requirements and if they are not willing to comply then move on why waste your time and their own
I don’t mind giving a reference from another provider or Merb handle.

When they ask for a government photo ID then it is time to move on as that will never happen, I will never give that to someone I don’t know and have never met before..

Good for you. Mature and respectful enough to just move on. We all wish there were more men with this attitude.

“I understand the request but I’m not comfortable with it. I will have to pass sorry. Enjoy the rest of your day!”

What did you want people to say? “You should have definitely seen her anyways, her being in pain shouldn’t prevent you from having a good time”

Maybe next time he’ll have a plan b before crossing the border.

She could have compensated him for his time as many Indys would expect if the roles were reversed, sometimes requiring the full donation if the cancellation occurs within 24 hours.

Your last comment perfectly illustrates my point and I hope any potential client takes note. "If you have to cancel, pay us. If we have to cancel, tough shit".

Yeah, but will your plumber pay you if they cancel last minute? Your reasoning is not how life usually works with regards to service providers.

It's not how life works with any business!

edit: Businesses just reschedule and/or offer an incentive (credit, percentage off) for you to spend money, again, in their business. That's the most you could expect when the business cancels.

Then again, read the ad or the website in full to avoid such situation.

If you see that there’s a “cancellation fee” and you’re not comfortable with it, don’t book.

Also did we not read the same thread? She literally offered to pay for his gas and to offer a discount + extended date.

She’s not going to send him etransfer for obvious reasons.

She offered a hefty discount and an additional 30 mins for a reschedule and also offered to compensate with gas money.
What else could she have done.
She didn’t just ghost him and not reply that is what scammers do and it does happen also.

Yes it sucks to drive 1.5 hours and cross a border but she hurt herself running into furniture while getting ready.
Shit like this does happen and if she was in pain then it would not have been pleasant for either.
That is why you should have a back up plan with an agency or a massage parlour.
We all learn eventually lol.

There are many generalizations I see about Indy providers that create a hostile atmosphere toward us.. it's not because one person had to cross the border and got cancelled on that this is something that happens on a regular basis. :(

The same goes with clients, people want to screen less and less, I sometimes get 5 cancellations and no call no shows in a week, etc. If I talk about this here this is going to be seen as "client bashing" or "man hating"
This is all about respect for a human being. I treat all my meetings with providers as any other meeting that I have (business, date, professional, you name it). I have once in a while cancelled on providers with a reasonable advance warning, and I also been cancelled by providers (on occasion, not on a regular basis) sometimes just a few hours before the meeting, for what seemed like valid reasons. Some might call me a softie but I found respect goes a long way.

Exactly, it's about respect. I had to cancel on someone last week because I was sick, but I tried really hard to reschedule and we made it happen and it was great. I think the least you can do when you cancel is to reschedule and if you can't, send a cancellation fee if you didn't offer a deposit, because usually we have worked really hard to accommodate our schedule for you. Obviously it's extremely frustrating if somebody went a really long way to meet up with a provider and they cancel.. But another way to see it is that if she had accepted, the appointment wouldn't have been ideal, and the client may not have been satisfied.

although i havent been doing this activity for very long. I have made some good good friends in the industry. Some of which are very known here on this forum

my world was shattered when i was revealed that many girls do not like this job :(

then I was introduced to the truth about many owners who were abusive.

I even stopped going to my go-to agencies because of this. I don’t know how to ethically book girls

i was recently told by one of the girls I booked, the more popular the agency is, the less ethical it becomes, and the less popular it is, the more abuse occurs. There is a sweet spot in the middle which does not bring much money.

I was then told by my friends that the days where clients and providers would partake for the sake of liking the idea of being there are over :(

I figured booking indies was the proper way of booking but I haven't figured that one out

also i havent seen anyone mention drugs as a form of pimping

im still learning, so as a spectator I hope this isnt as gruesome as I think

It's not really hard to book indies. You just message or email the person, introduce yourself, be clear about what you want and plan the booking.

With an indy you can ask questions directly and you can figure out what the person is like through their website and social media presence.
