He jumped out of the way to avoid a pass interferences penalty. His mistake was in making a play on the ball. He could have conceded the catch and positioned himself for a tackle and had he made the tackle, the game was over and the Saints win.

Yes make sense. But he had to tackle him inside the field to end the game. A tackle out of field would have stop the timer and give time for a 3 point kick. What a miss and what an end to a great game. Did you saw that quarterback jump out of pure joy!!

Watch the play again and freeze it at the 9 second mark:

The ball was caught well in bounds. If William correctly positions himself between the receiver and the goal line/end zone, there are 2 players who have a chance at tackling Diggs and keeping him in bounds, Crawley, the CB and Diggs, the safety. As soon as Williams committed to making a play on the ball he was in trouble, because not only did he have to avoid contact to avoid the pass interference penalty, but as he did so, he blocked his own teammate (Crawley), who might have had an opportunity to tackle Diggs had Williams stayed in front of him. Crawley should have had the sideline route and Williams the possible inside route had the ball been played correctly, and either or both could have tackled Diggs inbounds. Probably Crawley would have made the tackle because he had forward momentum towards the end zone, but Williams ended up blocking him inadvertantly.

I think that Williams thought the ball would get to Diggs quicker than it did. Once he committed and realized there was more air under that ball than expected, all he could do was avoid the pass interference penalty which would have given the Vikings a winning FG.

Hey thanks it was really fun evening. Seeing you enjoy the game with the passion of a 24 year old kid was amazing! By the way I know you found the waitress really really cute (like me my god..!). She looked like a mix of Alyson at Mike Mansion and Mini VIck ;)

Philadelphia will upset the patriots!!

Cheers

Prepared 2 recipe of Chicken Wings (classic honey garlic and homestyle bbq), coleslaw, vegetables and home fries. Loaded up on Bug Light. Kids were granted permission to sleep later. Cant wait for the game!

Usually I watch the Super Bowl without ever having a favorite. Now that I have 1 friend in Philly I will be rooting for the Eagles. I am with you GMA!

Who are you betting on to win this?

Cheers,

Phenomenal, fantastic game to remember.....exciting game from first play to last.....des passes spectaculaires...1051 total offensive yards...a record....only one turnover BUT Brady will remember it all his life......kudos to Nick Foles....MVP........and what about his trick play ...just too much....

Bill Bellichick's decision to bench Malcolm Butler for the entire game may have changed the outcome of the game. The team has refused to discuss the matter but word coming out today from people close to Butler state that he was late for curfew (due to attending a concert) and another says he was caught with weed.

Kudos to Bellichick for holding firmly to his principles but it possibly cost Brady & the Pats the Superbowl.

Thanks for the infos...was wondering why one of their best defensive player was benched...he was in tears...not sure Brady would have been so successfull if Butler played!!!

Probably didn't matter much. It was pretty much the Eagles' day to shine. Things that never happen to the Pats did, like missing an easy field goal and two extra points. Either way, it's always fun when New England loses, especially in the Super Bowl.

Thing is, it should have been two consecutive years losing. New England didn't win last year. On the contrary, Atlanta lost the game. Philly didn't duplicate Atlanta's mistake cuz they mostly played smart and not too aggressive at the end. After the NE fumble, Philly ran three run plays and took the 3 points. If Atlanta did that last year after that crazy Julio Jones catch, they would have been 11 points up with 4 or so minutes left in 4th quarter. No coming back from that. I said mostly smart because Zach Ertz should have avoided going into end zone on that dive. Gave NE way too much time. Thank goodness it didn't matter though.
