The Joe.T Memorial Yankees Suck Thread for 2007

Looks like another grim year for the Bronx Bummers as they continue into year seven of their Millenium of Despair.

    Grim year my ass!!!

Odds from Bowmans has the Yankees beating the Mets in the world series.

My prediction for the AL East-

    1. Yankees-Too much fire power, Jeter(Batting title?), Arod(40 plus hr?), Cano(Batting title?), Abrehu, Giambi, Matsui(over 100 rbi?), Wang(CY Young ?), Rivera(best reliever of all time?), Clemens(in pinstripes?) all realistic possibilities, need i go on?

    2. Blue Jays(Frank Thomas is my MVP pick if he stays healthy, i look for him to club close to 50 hr with well over 100 rbi, also look for them to make some major pitching aquisitions during the season as Rogers has given Riccardi his cheque book)

    3. Red Sox(Boy it sure took a loooooooooonnng time to get that Drew contract signed, what could possibly have been the hold up , injuries and lack of depth will do them in again and look for big Papi to regress this year which is the likely scenario after someone signs a huge contract which he did last year)

One more prediction, Igawa will win more games then D-Mat and maybe even Rookie of the year, care to make some bold predictions Reggy my boy or is your tail still stuck between your legs?

Your prognostications are probably about as good as your spelling, Joe.

BTW, you forgot Dontrelle Willis and Don Drysdale.

As of now it looks like Igawa and Pavano who if combine for 30 wins will make everybody in Yankee land happy, i will take them over whoever the Red Sox have as number 4 and 5

BTW Dayn Perry thinks that Hansen could end up as thier reliever if Pinero stinks, you remember Hansen? the guy that sucked big time when he was brought up as a starter last year and rumoured to be in several trade talks.

I notice that SK has changed his stupid avatar, i think that even he is worried about the Yankees awesome lineup this year.

Joelcairo- State your team and put your money where your mouth is and be a man for once and make some predictions, unless of course you are a bandwagoner.

Red Sox starters: Schilling, Matsuzaka, Beckett, Papelbon, Wakefield, Lester (assuming he's healthy). If Papelbon is anywhere near his closer strength as a starter that gives the Sox four pitichers who would be #1's on 75% of the clubs in the majors. I know my other favorite team -- the defending champion Cardinals -- would die to have any one of the Sox' top four at the top of their rotation.

Granted the Sox bullpen is their weakeness right now, but anyone who asserts that the Yankees' starting staff is anywhere near the quality of the Sox' staff is just blowin' smoke.

Huh!!! is the weed that good down there in Mass? might as well as add Tavarez to your number one list after all didnt he pitch well for them as a starter last year.

-Schilling is 300 years old and had to convince Francona that he can still pitch, he should have retired last year and left on a high note, he will be lucky if gets 12 wins this year and if he does it will be a moral victory.

-Matsuzaka is unproven in the majors so how could you make him a number one?, thats why Igawa is the Yankees 4th or 5th

-Beckett was a complete joke last year and i think that he was second in the majors in giving up gopher balls along with a pathetic ERA of 5.01, hitters are just drooling at the thought of facing him and it is pitchers like him that reward hitters with big fat contracts.

-Papelbon is coming off a injury and is uproven as a starter, i wouldnt be surprised to see him end up back as the closer if he flops as a starter.

-Wakefield is another 300 year old corps, 7-11 ERA 4.63 and coming off a injury plagued season, need i say more?

-Lester's ERA was 4.76 last year which is nothing to right home to mother about but if there is one guy that i am pulling for it is him because cancer is a terrible disease.

I think that you should reword your statement by saying that here are 5 starters that would not be number one on 75% of the teams, that would be more appropriate.

You left out the "very" immediately in front of "lucky."

Tim Wakefield may very well be the best number 5 starter in the last 20 years. It's tough having four aces in front of you.
