Is it the end of the world......................I think not.

Those that have confidence in the world will take advantage of lower oil prices and buy stocks when the price is low. Those that think they will live to see a sunrise five one, two, five, ten years from now will invest in their future. The world have survived worse. SARS and H1N1 have come and gone in the very recent pass. Communications around the world is instant, medical science has progressed greatly.

The greatest revenge on doomsday sayers .............................is to live well.
I plan to live very well!

One of the troubling things is that the incubation period for the Corona virus is up to 5 days. For the common cold the incubation period is up to 3 days. For the flu the incubation period is 1-4 days. So for Corona the incubation period is a bit longer. Do you see escorts during cold and flu season? I do unless I'm symptomatic. I assume all good escorts cancel all call once they become symptomatic. The good news about Corona is that the fatality rate is very low for healthy young people that take part in this hobby. So if you are symptomatic or have a reason to believe that you may be infected then don't see escorts. Wash your hands, sanitize your phone and work and living space to the best that you can, get plenty of rest, drink fluids, eat healthy and do other things that give your immunity a boost and take advantage of the current scare by booking cheap flights and hotel rooms and book escorts that typically cannot be had. This is a great opportunity.

I predict that this hyped up scare will go the way of all the others such as SARS, H1N1, Ebola, Y2K etc. etc. and you are going to feel like fools.

Yesterday, I marked myself safe from everything that the media wants me to be afraid of today.

I think panic is dangerous and has to be avoided but not by not being prepared for the worse and treating cautionary statements by experts as fake news.
Fact ….one person in NY has infected at least 50 before he was even diagnosed.
Fact …..the number of infected nursing homes in Washington state have tripled in less than a week.
Fact.....Angela Merkel , after consulting with medical specialists, has stated that 60 to 70% of Germans may get infected.
If she is right and the rest of the world follows then we may end up with 20 million deaths worldwide , calculated at a very conservative rate.
Unfortunately I won`t be around to say I told you so since I`ll be on a respirator or dead.
Unlike the common flu or common cold, this virus is new , spreads fast and easy, and we have not yet developed and immune response, or medicine against it.
For the sake of all I hope that I`m wrong and just like the flu , coronavirus will be cyclical .

They just postponed Coachella, hope the line up stays the same in October, was looking forward to seeing Rage

James Corden Suggests a Band for Coachella: The Cure
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/11/arts/television/coachella-coronavirus-late-night.html

“Also today, it was announced that, due to coronavirus, the music festival Coachella has now been postponed until October. In fact, headliner Rage Against the Machine has already changed their name to Rage to Get the Vaccine. And that’s not the only musical act that plans to be in Coachella in October. You can also count on Miley Virus, Justin Fever, the Flu Fighters, Pandemic! at the Disco — we got like a hundred of these. The only band yet to confirm is the Cure.” — JAMES CORDEN

“Today, ‘Wheel of Fortune’ filmed without an audience as a protective measure against the coronavirus. Things are so bad over there, Vanna is now turning all the letters with her elbow.” — JIMMY FALLON

“Meanwhile, because of the virus, the mayor of Boston announced their annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been canceled. Yeah, the mayor asked if instead of drinking, puking and blacking out in the streets, people could make the mature choice and do it at home.” — JIMMY FALLON

5 days for 50% of the cases and up to 12 for the rest. That`s why quarantines are at least 2 weeks.

That's probably true with many strains of flu and cold.

If you are in your 70's and in ill health then you should be afraid but you should be afraid anyways and there are not too many punters that fit that description.

To cancel basketball games and tournaments seems to be a bit much, don't you think? The community that is most susceptible should avoid these events. To the typical student, fan there is not more danger than the normal flu. Maybe we should cancel March Madness every year so no one gets a cold and plus you can turn an ankle walking down those steep stairs to get to your seat in those arenas.

The actions that young, healthy people take, including reporting symptoms and following quarantine instructions, will have an important role in protecting the most vulnerable in society and in shaping the overall trajectory of the outbreak.

The word pandemic scares even more people... When from a US survey they found 38% of people who will not drink anymore corona beer... scaring away these people is quite easy.

A pandemic is only the word to describe an epidemic of disease spread large region/continent/worldwide. A contained endemic disease or seasonal flu is not a pandemic.

The WHO has now only 2 declared pandemic. COVID-19 and HIV/AIDS.

There could be more death related to a global economic shutdown then from the disease itself. It's never good to panic but strong action needs to be taken. Action that will change, short term, the way we live.

https://www.bizjournals.com/boston/...GQ1E3a0V3WmVwQlV2VUdvMmhpYVpVYktQMFR0disifQ==

Guests who have a temperature of 100 degrees or higher will be asked to leave the Everett property and “encouraged to seek medical attention for further screening or treatment,” the company said.

Encore Boston Harbor, the Everett casino and hotel owned and operated by Wynn Resorts Ltd., is taking the physical temperatures of guests who look ill as a safety measure during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Safeguarding the health of our guests and employees is of the utmost importance. We have started to take the temperature of guests who are exhibiting symptoms of illness - coughing, sneezing, sweating, etc.,” Encore said in a statement. “With their permission, we are (discreetly) taking their temperature with a non-contact, digital thermometer.”

We have a flu outbreak every year. Why don't we ban all travel February - May every year. You know, to keep everyone safe? And then after May 1st we can go back to worrying about Global Climate Change?

You have internet access, right? Therefore I assume you are able to read (and perhaps hopefully comprehend) why this is not the same as the flu.

Amazing that people are still saying things like this.

No, coronavirus isn't the same as the flu.

From Agence France Presse:

Covid-19, the illness caused by coronavirus, proves deadly in around 3.5 percent of confirmed cases.

While this is not the same as its mortality rate, given many people may be infected but not realise it, it is significantly higher than seasonal flu, which typically kills 0.1 percent of patients.

"There is still considerable uncertainty around the fatality rates of Covid-19 and it likely varies depending on the quality of local healthcare," said Francois Balloux, Professor of Computational Systems Biology at University College London.

"That said, it is around 2 percent on average, which is about 20 times higher than for the seasonal flu lineages currently in circulation."

But the true danger of coronavirus is unlikely to be the death toll. Experts say health systems could easily become overwhelmed by the number of cases requiring hospitalisation -- and, often ventilation to support breathing.

An analysis of 45,000 confirmed cases in China, where the epidemic originated, show that the vast majority of deaths were among the elderly (14.8 percent mortality among over 80s).

But another Chinese study showed that 41 percent of serious cases occurred among under 50s, compared with 27 percent among over 65s.

"It's true that if you're older you're at greater risk, but serious cases can also happen in relatively young people with no prior conditions," said French deputy health minister Jerome Salomon.

Disease experts estimate that each Covid-19 sufferer infects between 2-3 others.

That's a reproduction rate up to twice as high as seasonal flu, which typically infects 1.3 new people for each patient.

Around the corner
Yes I agree that this is significantly worse than the flu and it deserves the attention it is getting.

Mostly because it is contagious and no country can be prepared for this, they simply don’t have the hospital beds to cope with it and in today’s world people are not confined to there village or even their country.

Having said all this if you told cancer patients they have a 3–4 % chance of dying I think they would all sign that contract willingly.
