That may be but people under 50 spread it to people over 50 who end up dying.
I don’t agree with a curfew simply because I don’t think it will help much, and governments will get too used to having this kind of power, I do agree with the closing of schools, and all non essential businesses for 4 weeks minimum to at least give doctors and nurses a fighting chance helping people live.

Your 0.02% is great for you, tell that to the loved ones of all the people in hospitals and who are dying and the hospital staff who are battling this around the clock and see how much sympathy you will get, yeah I know it doesn’t affect you. It must be tough to stay home watch TV or play video games, I am sure many people in the world wouldn’t mind that kind of unbearable circumstance, not to mention what people during wars revolutions and political confinement had to go through.

I understand young people feeling invincible and even being reckless with their own lives we all did that and sometimes when I look back I am so thankful that my children are much wiser and never drove a car after a night of partying, but this puts way more lives at stake than that.
With 318 new hospitalizations in 4 days, soon our health network will have to make choices.

So the government will have to make some heartbreaking choices.

And never forget all the collateral damage.

This is exactly my viewpoint as well. Anybody complaining about wearing a mask, travelling/partying during the holidays, etc are only thinking selfishly about themselves.

Their mentality/behavior is what brought us to this situation in the first place.

I don't agree.

According to many, there were 50% who didn't follow the instructions during the holidays. If people had followed the instructions, we would not be at + 318 hospitalizations for 4 days.

I apologize but there is a lot to do.

Take the western provinces that were like Quebec or worse in December, and they've respected the lockdowns and now they're halved and even more.

Well it is official curfew will be in effect by this Saturday and it will be from 8pm. I officially now declare this a police state and we will be held prisoners in our home. Grocery stores will be forced to close at 7:30pm thereby squeezing more people into a smaller time frame we will have big crowds and long line-ups. It will be total chaos. And agencies and Indys will have to close by 7pm at the latest.

You know if everyone had just followed the rules in the first place we'd be out of this by now, right? If there was an even tighter lockdown (something you'd call a police state) things would have been solved.

Do you want proof? Look at New Zealand.

Tell me one time that prohibition worked? Look up Prohibition Era. And yes lets give up more of our freedom maybe they will give it back to you. I do not think any government should have this much power. They will not let it go this easily. Just to clue you in many young people are going out of the country to a resort to enjoy themselves. At least our incompetent crime minister issues mandatory testings upon return.

Curfew it is...8pm to 5am.
For those selfish people during Christmas and New Years...you pay now and pay later.
Whats next Martial Law, boots on the ground patrolling the streets looking into windows for gatherings?

This is exactly what I meant that some of this stuff is laughable.
Curfew for everyone after 8 p, this basically leaves the whole day for people to meet so how is being off the street after 8 going to help.

At the same time schools will be open with thousands of kids being together with teachers and all of them going home to their parents, grandparents and merrily spreading the virus all before 8 pm.
Curfew is total BS if you keep schools open, why is he so doggedly wanting to keep schools open, they are known to be the second largest spreaders of the virus after work place environments.
Legault of course did his part at taking a stab at JT, as much as I dislike JT. Mr Legault your province has more deaths than all of Canada combined so perhaps just shut the fuck up and own it and if you are going to do a lock down then don’t do it half assed again like during the holidays because it won’t work as long as you keep schools open.

It is an Orwellian society. Goal is to stop socializing or any fun. Only school and work will be allowed. The curfew is to make it hostile for people to have any kind of get together or socializing. Check out George Orwell 1984 this story is very accurate with that is going on today.

Curfew is mostly to try to prevent people in their 20s from partying.

Most people in their 20s and a lot of people in their early 30s don't give a shit about the lockdowns and have been partying in condos the last couple of weeks like it's the end of the world.

Exactly...schools will continue to spread infections and this will continue wave after wave as they like to call it.
It never was under control since March 2020...it subsided and spread elsewhere like the outlying regions of the province and then, back to the center of the cities like Montreal.
Its like a bomb going off with the explosion in the center going outward in a shock wave.
As Legault used the term..." shock therapy"
Stay safe everyone!

You think a curfew will stop this ?
There are far more people that don’t give a shit than police.
With leaving schools open it is just a laughable ridiculous measure, I have seen kids coming home from school and hanging around supermarkets last thing on their mind is masks and social distancing. It is not their fault they are kids adults are the ones that have to come up with ways to stop them from spreading this. Until schools are closed and parents stop trying to be their kids best friend so they will ”like them” and start acting like parents the spread will continue.

I don't know. Just saying what I believe the intention is. It's not typically mentioned in news articles, maybe to not give people who do follow the rules the wrong ideas, but I'm pretty sure the police and politicians are fully aware of this.

Anyway. I agree with you 100% that none of the new measures are going to matter as long as schools stay open.

Half-assed curfew like this won't help. In fact, I'm not sure even full-time curfews would help either. What's the point of curfews if schools remain open!

It is to stop people from going to friends places to drink
Happy schools remain open. Kids are only 3% of all cases

Really ?
There were 17,372 students, 4038staff for a total of 21400.
These are only the reported, and we know how good our governments are at testing and reporting and I am not even going to accuse them of just maybe under reporting to justify keeping them open.
Even with this number imagine how many families and friends they brought it home to as kids don’t live on their own and take care of themselves.
Anyway just my view.

Ok Fradi. 8% of total reported cases are school kids
Worth the risk
Better than having them at home
And probably safer to send them to school and being with them at home than seeing sp;)

Not unless that SP sees 30- 40 clients every day, then again you never know some are very popular and full of energy just like their clients ;)

Yet SAQs and SQDCs remain open. Ths kids bought bottles of alcohol then were able to have house parties. I am sure half the parties would not have happened if there was no alcohol available.

Months and months of restrictions, yet the cases continue to rise. There is nothing that can be done, including curfews. It's entertaining to think it will, to put it lightly. Nearly a year later, the government is still scrambling and implementing double standard restrictions. The funny thing is that they always seem to have reasoning to justify the rise in cases, and in turn more restrictions. Initially not enough people were social distancing, so the mask mandate came along. Fine. They raved about a 98% percent compliance rating, but also blamed the people for not wearing masks! But I thought the masks were in place for situations where social distancing is not possible? Sure. Then the lockdowns, but the cases kept rising. It must be SCHOOLS! Ok. Shut down the schools and watch the parents suffer. Cases climbed. WE NEED MORE RESTRICTIONS! And on and on the story goes. They have simply lost peoples commitment and attention. By closing small businesses that were operating responsibly and within their given guidelines (i.e. gyms and coffee shops), they have simply funneled gatherings indoors. And if you think people are not getting together, you are completely delusional. And this will continue to happen until we are given some of our basic freedoms back. The repercussions of these lockdowns will far outweigh any loss of life directly related to Covid. Financial strain on families, business closures, mental health issues, substance abuse, domestic violence, child exploitation. It's terrible, and I sincerely believe it is disgusting where we've let them lead is, and that we're still where we are now. We'll start seeing and feeling these impacts in and around us in the coming year, and will continue to do so for many years to come.
completely agree with you on this...
They justify this curfew and 4 weeks lockdown to get us enough time to vaccine "old" people. The shot takes a few weeks to get effective...so in 3 weeks when cases don't go down, they are going again to extend this thing for another 3 weeks... I'm thinking we're in it until March this time.
