Another "LIGHTS OUT" performance by CC, 4 innings of shutout ball which dropped his ERA to a miniscule 1.29, pretty impressive, I think that it is safe to say that he is back, I'm sure that even rumples would agree.

JoeT that game was played in Bradenton against the Pirates. I was there for the game on March 17 and it got rained out. It is an older and smaller park than Steinrenner Field but I liked the way it is laid out. I had the best seats and was so pissed I did not get to see Kuroda pitch. I would have witnessed that Japanese Daily Double, Tanaka on Sunday and Kuroda on Monday, had the rains not come. Kuroda pitched indoors that day in a simulated game.

Could Miguel be the first 10-year contract to turn out to be a good deal for the team and the Tiger's fans? He will be 41 when it is fulfilled.

Over 80 000 tickets sold for the two games in Montreal this weekend. Was told that number might jump to 85 000-90 000 by the end of the weekend. Just heard that the weather is brutal right now due to heavy snowfall. Good thing the games will be held indoors. Gary Carter Night this evening and tomorrow afternoon, the 1994 Expos edition which had the best record in MLB prior to the strike will be honored. Should be a great weekend, bad weather & all.

Sizemore Wins Red Sox CF Job

In a bit of a surprise, Grady Sizemore has won the Jacoby Ellbsury Replacement Sweepstakes over Jackie Bradley, who was sent along with his .158 batting average and team leading 17 Ks to the minors:

I liked Sizemore when he was in Cleveland, but he had a series of injuries that would make even Jacoby Ellsbury himself blush. It is almost the ultimate irony that the Red Sox would replace one injury prone CF with an even more injury prone CF. Both are talented players, though. And talent is what wins you a roster spot, especially on the deeper teams.

Sizemore more than likely will end up on the DL again, although talented this guy is a serious injury risk every time he sneezes, the Red Sox are foolishly rolling the dice on him, the last time this guy played baseball was 3 years ago, but then again you can't blame Farrell when your other option is Jackie(.158)Bradley, I think the Red Sox are in a heap of trouble.

Rest assured I can guarantee you Jacoby will also be on the DL this season. Every year that's not a contract year for Ellsbury is marred by injury. Watch and see. ;-)

Looks like the game tonight will go ahead as planned even though there was a heavy snowfall this morning. Now it's raining in Montreal. Supposedly they cannot hold a public event at the Big O if there is more than 2 or 3 cm of snowfall due to the fragile fiberglass roof, which caused a professional soccer game to be postponed last week.

I was told that there have now been 85 000 tickets sold for the two games this weekend. This is amazing considering it's not even a local team playing, they're exhibition games, and the tickets being sold are the same price as regular season tickets (top price $85) at the Rogers Centre.

It's been confirmed that several potential billionaire investors will be in attendance, and the Mtl mayor (Denis Coderre) will be throwing the inaugural ball. It's no secret that he would like to bring back MLB to Montreal.

I now regret not attending these games this weekend. I didn't think it anyone would go or would make much about it. It looks like it'll be a great time, especially tomorrow afternoon.

The Montreal baseball game sounds exciting. One of the former players from the 94' team was on MLB. He said that the Olympic stadium was horrible and traffic was terrible. If they would build a smaller venue downtown (35,000 seats) and make it so that families could get home in time rather then be stuck in biblical traffic jams baseball would have never left Montreal.

I used to attend the games via the subway. I'd take the green line all the way to either Pie X or Vendome, if i remember correctly. I still remember eating dinner or lunch as Rusty's (named after former star Rusty Staub) and enjoying the one-man band before & after the games. Great times!

Nuno Makes the Big Club

Vidal Nuno has made the Yankees team. Hard to keep him, or any good man down. I realize the Yankees may need an extra starter as they play the first 13 without a day off, but they also could keep him stretched out in AAA.

Betances also made the team and this was no surprise as he was lights out.

Where are the young big bats in the farm systems? It's amazing that clubs are relying on veterans so much to replace veterans who leave a club.

Was this the "Next Big Thing Jack Bradley Jr." that one former poster used to chirp about all the time last year? If i am not mistaken, that former poster used to wanna place bets as well 3 seasons ago as to how soon it would be b4 Ivan Nova (from a 5th starter to now a #3) would be sent to Scanton lol.
They have a young bat in Jackie Bradley Jr. but he hit .158 with 17 Ks. He is not ready for prime time.

I just looked at the 94' roster. It was Cliff Floyd that was interviewed by MLB radio. The 1994 season was the strike season and the Expos ended the season with the best record in baseball...except there were no playoffs that year. It really screwed the Expos and may have doomed the franchise. Floyd is a Chicago boy and he was talking about how nice and clean the city is and how much he liked Montreal. A man after my own heart.
