Me thinks MrsC is American! Lets see, it is Thanksgiving in the States today, MrsC posting at 330am (off from work)........ WOW! No wonder u like Deadtroit! HAHAH!

"Mrs. C." ? Take a quick look in the mirror ig, because I think you're again exposing your sexual confusion. Maybe you should try to cover it up.

Oh, and by the way, I'm still waiting for some HOCKEY talk from you, if you can put aside your fantasies for a minute or two.

PS: "Dead things" is neither original, nor witty, nor correct. In case you're unaware, the Wings have been in the playoffs for 22 consecutive years and this season they are also currently ahead of the leafs - who have made the playoffs only once in the past decade. The Wings have 4 Cups and 2 other finals in the last decade and a half, while the leafs have FAILED to make it to the finals in 46 YEARS (sorry Rev!). Which of those teams looks more like a corpse? Sorry, I realize that might be a tough question for you. After all, I guess someone who can't tell a man from a woman might also have difficulty telling a living team from a dead one.

Where I belong.
Is that all you've got? Your repartee is about successful as the play of your favorite team. Apart from being the absolute KING of "bwahaha", you bring NOTHING to the table. Oh, and if you're going to swear and toss insults, maybe you should try spelling them correctly. Clue: the word is not "fukked" (sic).
Me think, Mr. Cairo, you're confusing Mr. Shortbus with an English speaker. This is the guy, remember, who thinks people is a three letter word, while you is a one letter word.

But back to hockey. As you know quite well by now, hockey is not my primary field of expertise, so I ask your indulgence. (You can define indulgence for iggy if you're feeling kind today.) Is it not a bit early for the Toronto club's inevitable annual collapse? Thanks, in advance, for the elucidation. (You can define elucidation for iggy, as well, if you're feeling extra kind.)

For a guy who's been hanging out with Iggy for many years (in fact, far longer than me!), went with him to all sorts of venues, and who (I thought) was his friend, I am quite shocked to read this. If this had been posted by one of the usual suspects who seem lately to have nothing better to do than come here, and pollute this thread by bashing Iggy for no good reason, I would have said: "Big fricken surprise ". But coming from a "buddy" of his?

Even for the Free for All thread, that's pretty low.

That's truly sweet of you to be Iggys's white knight here in the NHL free for all thread, Rev! As you have stated, I've known and interacted with Iggy long before you and we have always battled back and forth in the sports threads while leaving what's said on the board, on the board. Heck, he'd be the first to tell you he doesn't take anything serious here and laughs everything off but apparently, from the email and texts I received last night, I must have really struck a nerve this time.

Maybe all the free for all threads should be closed if people are getting too sensitive to things said here or maybe said sensitive people should just avoid them altogether.

Sorry to disappoint you though Rev, but this is how things have been in the sports threads here on Merb long before your arrival to them. It's too bad you're now soured to me because your presence here actually brought some humility and sanity to them.

SK,

REVERDY is nothing more than a true SELL OUT who feels compelled to interject every time Iggy needs someone to hold his balls for him. Like a surrogate wet-nurse.

This is a free-for-all. Many of which Iggy has started. All of which Iggy sets the standards for nastiness. In fact, years ago I offered to tone down the rhetoric and was told point blank that being nasty is how the free-for-alls should be...it's just part of being a fan...don't whine about it....it's just a joke. But just as Iggy demonstrated by showing his hurt in those emails and texts, he's just a hypocrite, something he's proven ad nauseam in his nasty streams of PMs...HE CAN'T TAKE what he has dished out in the majority of his ridiculous 7500 posts. THAT'S no surprise REV.

Now rev comes in crying over poor Iggy. Poor poor little round Iggy the author of free-for-alls. I had thought from his writings elsewhere that Rev might be a reasonable neutral in these arguments. But now all I see is a SELL OUT who jumps in to change diapers for a free-for-all bully who can't deal with what he has always claimed is the real fans way to post. Well boohoo Rev...get a clue.

or maybe said sensitive people should just avoid them altogether.

Quote: "If you can't take the heat, get out of the free-for-alls" - Iggy. Eat your words boy. :thumb:

BTW Rev...you've become a major participant in these free-for-alls. Don't they have mirrors in your world. ;) :D Anyone posting in this thread at 2:49 am and complaining about others needs a GREAT BIG REALITY CHECK.

Bruins 1 Red Wings 6

Awful game for the Bruins. They've taken on better teams and beaten them, but no doubt the Devils had that extra fire that comes with the desperation to turn around a bad run and being at home.

DETROIT — Perhaps the moment that best summed up the Bruins’ play Wednesday came toward the end of the second period. Jarome Iginla and Milan Lucic collided, a hit more directly delivered than most of the 25 the Bruins dealt to the Red Wings.

By that point, the Bruins had allowed four goals and were on their way to their worst loss of the season, 6-1 at Joe Louis Arena.

“It’s not a good night to have that happen, against a team like that,” coach Claude Julien said. “Just everything, everything we did tonight was just disastrous. We dominate on faceoffs, that’s about the only positive we have tonight.”

Despite winning 61 percent of the draws, the Bruins couldn’t make anything happen against a team that had gone 2-3-5 in its last 10 games, and was missing Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi.

And yet, it was the Bruins who looked lost, with a missing defense, an impotent attack, and a leaky goaltender. They were, as Patrice Bergeron said, “flat all game,” adding, “That’s the only thing we could expect out of this game is to get spanked like that.”

“It was pretty much everything that we didn’t want to see out there,” Bergeron said. “We didn’t execute. Yeah, they played a good game, but we pretty much handed it out to them. No disrespect to them, but it wasn’t even close to playing our game. It wasn’t even close to executing. We left [Tuukka Rask] out to dry most of the night. You definitely can’t win playing like that.”

Sometimes in recent games the Bruins have been a little lazy, relying too much on Tuukka. This was the wrong night to do that.

Cheers,

Merlot

Yea as money hungry as Bettman is you would think so but really it is hard to compete with the NFL on this day. America is a football country first and foremost. Jan1 however has become a great day for hockey to shine all by itself.

1. I see you deleted a couple of your previous empty responses (wise move! :thumb:) but you've added yet another one that expresses the same sexual confusion (via your silly fantasy of "MrsC"). Hate to disappoint you, junior, but that particular fantasy of yours will NOT come true. 2. Now you're contemplating my nationality???!!! PLEASE, junior, stop obsessing about me. 3. Funny, but didn't you write your post AFTER "330am" (sic) ? 4. Sorry, but "Deadtroit" is actually no wittier, no more original, and no more accurate than "dead things". Maybe it's time for you to go HIRE a writer. 5. As usual, ZERO HOCKEY content in your post. But I'll be a good sport and give you another HOCKEY lesson for free: There's a DVD in the NHL Vintage Hockey Collection that's called NHL's Greatest Goals. Since it's from 1998, it's obviously not exactly current (!) but it's filled with great goals from superstars like Gretzky, Lemieux, Bossy, Orr, Yzerman, Denis Savard, Robitaille, Fedorov and others, including quite a few non-superstars such as Darren McCarty. There's even ONE token leaf: Wendel Clark. I guess they wanted to make sure not to miss the Koolaid segment of the market. But best of all for leaf fans the DVD also goes WAY back to 1951 to find a leaf goal of actual significance. As such a strong supporter of the leafs, you SURELY know which goal is being referred to - right?

Bwhahahahaahahaha.....

I would have hoped that iggy would copy YOUR style, rather than you copying HIS. However, with posts such as the quoted one and with your recent penchant for frequently posting cartoons (!), it appears that my hopes have not materialized. You know what? I can live with that, but it really is unfortunate that the thread appears to be losing the quality input of which you are capable. We really DON'T need another "bwahaha" specialist - we already have one.

Yes, Rumps, you are quite correct in your observation that the annual leaf collapse is occurring a bit earlier than usual this year. Maybe this year's leaf squad is just not as "good" as the other leaf teams of the past 10 (or should that be 46?) years. In POSITIVE news, however, I hear that Koolaid sales in Toronto are at an all-time high.

It is not my fault you take this stuff so seriously in here, you should loosen the neck tie some. (thats great and free advice from me to you my friend) and like Mod8 always says "if you cant handle things, grow a thicker skin or dont post in the sports threads" more great advice.

Above, we have an interesting quote that the originator of this thread made a mere 25 days ago. I found it very amusing, in view of what has apparently been communicated both publicly and privately (as reported in posts here) during the past 24 hours. Life can be funny, can't it?

HOCKEY Trivia Question: Who was the last leaf to lead the playoffs in scoring? Don't cheat - the answer is below.

Answer: Jim Pappin, way back in 1967. (Gee, that year rings a bell for some reason.) Pappin, who played for 4 teams (most notably Chicago) in a 14 year NHL career, had 7 goals and 8 assists.

Leafs already panicking at making the playoffs?

After their 6-0 loss, I was amazed that the Leafs are still panicking about missing a couple of weeks of golf in May.

They must have realized that they had a chance to win in Pittsburg even though they were leading by only two goals going into the third period. They appear to have taken a pact among themselves not to take a single shot in the entire third period. Sadly, Pittsburg was able to score only two goals in the third period, so, despite their best efforts, the Leafs were stuck with a point. Their efforts to avoid a second point in the shootout were comical. I never saw a goalie flat on his stomach with his ass pointing toward the skater during a shootout before.

Perhaps, someone can enlighten me: Did the Leafs only tie or did they set yet another record for futility by failing to take a shot on net during the entire third period?

They only tied the record. It has been "achieved" several times over the history of the NHL. The most recent - prior to this latest leaf embarrassment - was Chicago holding Tampa Bay to zero shots in the first period of a game in October...but Tampa Bay went on to WIN the game 3-2!

Where I belong.
C'mon Pavie, that good hockey check was not as bad as you make it seem, just take some excederin and get back in the lineup, the "Dead Things" play better when you are out.
I don't know what rock you've been living under, iggy, but concussions are FINALLY being taken seriously by our sports leagues. Suggesting that an athlete with concussion-like symptoms "take some excederin (SP) and get back in the lineup" might be the dopiest and most irresponsible thing posted in any sports thread since Joe.T's last football predictions.

Even by YOUR pathetically low "standards", what you have said here is absolutely ridiculous.

If you ever researched anything before excreting such an asinine statement, you might appear at least slightly less foolish. First, even a "good hockey check" (which this was NOT) CAN lead to serious problems, including concussions. If you ever actually PLAYED a sport, you would be aware of this. Second, it was NOT just a "good hockey check", but also a crosscheck and an elbow to the jaw (aka Nazem Kadri's favorite play). Third, you are obviously unaware of a MAMMOTH lawsuit launched against the NHL by many players, including former leafs Rick Vaive and Gary Leeman - specifically on the subject of concussions! Fourth, there is evidence from many other sports (e.g.: football, which you also PRETEND to follow) and even non-sports like pro wrestling (where Chris Benoit's murder-suicide episode might well have been caused by, among other things, concussions). Fifth, as I have previously pointed out to you, even your fellow leaf-lover Reverdy (one of your VERY FEW defenders on this board) AGREED with "Pavie" (sic) taking the appropriate time off to deal with this very serious issue. Sixth, if you're looking for someone "made of glass", maybe you should look no further than Joffrey Lupul, who is likely the most fragile player in the entire league.

btw is Jimmy Howard hurt? Why was he not in vs the bruins? I will have to give him a call.........;)

I know you have strong feelings for Jimmy, so you'll be pleased to know that he was back in nets for today's 5-0 shutout of the Islanders.

PS: You don't have to bother calling him.
