welcome back "gsg bandwagon fan of the year!" :thumb:

The good news for Leaf Nation is that they're still within striking distance and it's still early in the season being there is still 2/3rds to go and as we've seen a million times, anything can happen in hockey!

Dear Mr. Joelcairo,

I found this on the other board which seems quite appropriate and I hope that person doesn't mind me using it and it goes like this:

I've got to stop saying " How stupid can you be ? "
Some people are taking it as a challenge.

With respect ,

Say what you want about Dion Phaneuf, but he's having a heck of a season & he's a kingpin on defence.

Until last night, he led the East Conference in plus/minus.

He plays 25+ minutes a game and he's always on the team's #1 PP and PK units.

He's by far the team's best defenceman, and he's under strict orders by his coach to stay away from the penalty box since his value to the team is invaluable.

Mr. Phaneuf has played great hockey under coach Randy Carlyle and he deserves consideration for the Norris if his strong play continues.

He'll be due for a raise & a multiyear contract once his current one expires and i cannot see the Leafs not-resigning him, considering his value to the team. They are also quite aware that many teams out there (incl. the Edmonton Oilers) will give him whatever contract he wants should he become a free agent after the end of this current season.

Agreed! Dion Phaneuf will get 7 yrs 50 mil and well deserved.

If you mean 50 years for 7 million then that sounds about right to me but I'm not sure even the great yellow captain DIJON PHADURE can play until he is 78.

Otherwise, I'll really be keeping my fingers crossed that we will finally witness your first ever prediction to become true in the history of MERB.

Seriously though, I'm actually hoping he get a "55 extension" like Nonis gave Kessel. What's a 55 extension you ask? Well it kicks in at the end of this season and goes for eight more years therefore, 47 + 8 equals 55 years of continued failure guaranteed.

This is what I call an excuse for a wussy.
He's having more than last year and the year before at this date so...BS !

This sounds like the wussy Don Cherry who suddenly feels like pissing in his pants over his jobs.
This f*kin moron of an excuse for a human being who constantly try to make us believe he is tough (while wearing wussies jackets) and always say to over brainwashed kids in Canada that the only way to play is the retarded way he was coaching while Vietnam was on going.... is now sh*tting in his pants for a stupid job in which he's acting like Canada's favorite clown.

Hell, if people in TO wants to vote for a big douche fat slob of a mayor crying for his job... I'm not surprised this town will be buying baby wippes for decades to come.

I'm sure now that as a hockey team The Maple Leafs really suits this town !

Oxymoronic isn't it. This is how some loudmouth teaches everyone else what he knows about hockey. Just hanging out in the free-for-alls passing out gas bag crap all the time. No surprise. He'd need an actual attention span to learn or write about hockey, and we know from all his complaints against posts longer than two lines he doesn't have it or want one. So bad gas is all there is. :noidea:

Agreed! Dion Phaneuf will get 7 yrs 50 mil and well deserved.

The Leafs ownership and management appreciates how the fans love to come and watch their favorites, and will pay dearly to keep you guys happy for profits sake...WITHOUT A STANLEY CUP!

Watch your favs and pay no attention to that awful tailspin the team is in, or that man behind the curtain laughing all the way to the bank. KA CHING!!! Nonis says: you're welcome CHUMPS!

Montreal Canadiens players David Desharnais (5'7") and Brendan Gallagher (5' 9") are roughed-up by Toronto Maple Leafs' Carl Gunnarsson (6'2"), left, and David Clarkson (2G, -3) in the first period at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Saturday.John Kenney/Postmedia News

Hilarious to hear the panel rip on Celine Sloppy Seconds - hoping for a "Wendell Clark moment" !

Remember, Phaneuf was voted by his peers as the most over rated player in the league.

Yes, and not just once, but TWICE. In fact, I think Dion is the ONLY player who has ever achieved this "award".

"mrs cairo]"? I see that you did not use your brief time away to work on that little sexual confusion problem you have. In fact, it appears to be getting worse, as I see your curiosity about the sex lives of men is now also appearing in the Official Habs thread. As always, little guy, I'm not judging you for your personal preferences, I'm just saying that you should limit them to those who share your special feelings. To those of us who do NOT have the same little urges as you, it's actually harassment and we AGAIN respectfully ask you to send your not-so-subtle hints to someone who would appreciate them, rather than someone who feels uncomfortable with your obsession.

"dead things suck"? Would you be referring to the team that is 2 points AHEAD of your increasingly woeful maple losers? Because if you ARE, then I'm afraid it shows yet again how grossly out-of-touch you are with reality and how fantastically LITTLE you know about hockey. Is someone putting LSD in the Koolaid?

Thank you Ballsamic. In fairness to our little leaf fan, he seems to be QUITE up to the challenge and manages to raise the bar every time he posts. He is a true MASTER of the irrelevant and illogical, and he does it with such a total LACK of style that no one can duplicate him. His total disregard for spelling, grammar, and facts is a hallmark of his writing. He is truly the Ed Wood of hockey posters.

Say what you want about Dion Phaneuf.

Okay, since you asked. He's a poor skater, a poor puckhandler, and has far too many giveaways. He has a hard shot but it's wildly inaccurate. He's capable of hitting but he's not the bravest guy around, as shown by his fear of players like John Scott and P.K.Subban. He couldn't even stand up against little Danny Briere. He was called out by Glenn Healy last night for lack of leadership and lack of guts. He has NEVER been a winner in his 9 years in the NHL, either with Calgary or (as expected) toronto. He IS the best d-man on the leafs, but only because the rest of their d - like their entire team - is nothing but a bad JOKE. The HNIC panel last night said exactly the same thing: that Dion is their best d-man "by default" because there is NO ONE else. Finally, Dion has very poor hockey sense - no one would ever confuse him for a Gretzky, Crosby, Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Harvey, Kariya, or Orr - not even a Subban!

Agreed! Dion Phaneuf will get 7 yrs 50 mil and well deserved.

And the RESULT will be that the leafs will get another 46 YEARS of complete and utter failure.

It's no wonder that your pitiful little squad has been SO BAD for SO LONG when it has fans like you, who are willing to worship at the maple leaf altar in spite of NOTHING but failure, failure, failure. It's also no wonder, given the inept ownership and management that your hopeless team has had for so long. Go ahead and waste more millions - just like you did with the atrocious Kessel and Clarkson signings - while the rest of the league and the rest of the WORLD laughs at you.

Well, Gentle, you know that leaf fans never let FACTS get in the way of the total BS they spew.

As incorrect as Doc's statement was, it doesn't hold a candle to his GREATEST lie of all time when he stated that Phil Freakin' Kessel had better numbers than Evgeni Malkin! Now THAT was a classic!

But you have to be sorry for leaf fans: They've got NOTHING so they either have to go into hiding (which of course would be the smartest thing they could do) or else 1. TOTALLY make things up, or 2. Bring up things having NOTHING to do with HOCKEY, or 3. Start making their boring, juvenile, unoriginal, unfunny attempts at insults. Fortunately, NON-LEAF fans are far more intelligent than the Koolaid drinkers and beat them like rented mules no matter what they do....just like the 29 RESPECTABLE teams in the NHL have been beating the whipping-boy leafs on a regular basis for the last 46 YEARS.

The leafs and their fans are not very bright, but they should at least learn to spell the two words that best describe the team: 1. LOSERS 2. COWARDS (as this picture, last night's game, and their games against Buffalo have most recently shown).

Bwhahahahaahahaaha......... you should worry about that dead thing team from deadtroit and not about that good team in TO ;)

Strangely, however, "that good team in TO" is currently in 15th place and sinking like a stone, while "that dead thing team from deadtroit" is in 9th place, 4 points ahead of them.

Then again, maybe it's NOT so strange. Maybe it just illustrates what everyone on MERB already knows - namely that you are nothing but a poser who actually knows SQUAT about hockey.

Weren't you also the guy who was making fun of "60yr old Alfie" (sic) ? You know, the SAME Alfie who now has 21 points in 23 games, more than ANY leaf except Kessel? (Kessel has 3 more points but has played 3 more games.) The same Alfie who had a goal and an assist tonight in his return to Ottawa for yet another Red Wing victory? The same Alfie who also had a HIT in the game, something that Phil doesn't bother with?

Weren't you also the same guy who bragged non-stop about how tough the East was until it was pointed out that the West has dominated for the last EIGHT YEARS and is continuing to do so this year?

Weren't you also the same guy who continually raved about how great the leafs are and how crappy the Habs and Wings are? Are you aware that Detroit DESTROYED the leafs in a pre-season game and that the Habs DESTROYED the leafs last night? Are you aware that Detroit is 4 points ahead of the leafs and Montreal is 2 ahead of the leafs after a third of the season?

Weren't you the same guy who thought the Clarkson signing was the greatest thing since sliced bread? Are you aware that Clarkson is on pace for a season total of 6 goals and 9 assists for a total YEAR'S production of 15 points? Are you aware that he is a MINUS player? Maybe a multi-year deal for almost $40 million really WASN'T such a good move by Dave Nonis.

Are you aware that Grabo, the Monster, Scrivens, Rask and McArthur are all doing pretty well with their current teams after escaping the hellhole of Toronto and after having DECENT coaches correct the bad habits and loser mentality that are inextricably linked to the maple leafs?

Are you aware that the majority of your so-called hockey posts have NOTHING to do with hockey and usually contain nothing but ungrammatical, poorly-spelled, unoriginal attempts at humor or insults that would be considered lame even in a kindergarten?

Are you aware that on the RARE occasions that you actually write about hockey in a HOCKEY thread, you invariably get it wrong (as the FACTS above prove, for the umpteenth time)?

Are you aware that your hopeless team will soon "graduate" (ha ha) from 46 YEARS of complete and utter failure to 47 YEARS of complete and utter failure?

Are you aware that even your fellow leaflover Reverdy recently posted that the leafs are the worst team in the NHL?

Don't worry: As usual, I do not expect a HOCKEY response from you, because I am well aware that you've got NOTHING. So, either you'll just stay silent (which, for you, would ALWAYS be the wise thing to do), or you'll chirp in with more of your juvenile, illiterate nonsense and grade-school attempts at insults.

PS: The only Wing who is not really performing up to expectations this year is your favorite non-leaf player Jimmy Howard. I guess that makes perfect sense, all things considered!
