So very true.....
The Red Wings totally embarrassed themselves in these playoffs and i don't remember seeing a team get beat so hard and show to the world they simply did not belong with the rest of the teams currently in the playoffs.

This is a team that is getting old and a rebuild should be considered. Too many overpriced, under-achieving players on that team. And how long can Lundquist play at the top of his game? Personally, i believe he's on the decline. He's still a very good goalie, but injuries and age have slowly taken their toll on him.

NHL Lottery Night

Tonight's the night!!!

The Leafs have 20% odds of winding up with the first overall pick.

However, i unfortunately don't expect them to wind up with the first pick. Call me a pessimist, but although people who believe they will tell me that they have a 20% chance of getting it, i point out that they also have an 80% chance of not getting that first overall pick.

And if the Leafs do not wind up with that first overall pick, do not be entirely if they shop that pick around in order to get a great off from any other team wishing to move up in the draft. That team would of course have to surrender it's onwn first-round pick, other picks (2nd & 3rd) and possibly next year's #1 pick. And possibly young players that could help the Leafs in years to come.

The Leafs have likely been stacking up picks in order to make several lucrative offers to RFA's out there. Getting more picks for their own first-round pick (if it's not the first overall) will only add to their strategy of not only signing RFA's to offer sheets, but build the club for years to come.

Among the RFA's likely to be signed to an offer sheet by the Leafs are some of the league's most respected goaltenders, such as Frederik Andersson and Petr Mrazek.

Will PK Subban be traded to the Edmonton Oilers?

This is a question that i've been hearing more & more over the past few days. The Oilers would love to add a defenceman of Subban's calibre in their lineup and they are overloaded at the forward position. And within a year or two, some of those highly-touted forwards will be asking for a huge raise. The time to trade those young forwards is now, and the time to trade Subban for the habs is also now since his non-movement clause kicks in on July 1st.

I've also heard rumbles that the Oilers are likely to trade their first-round pick in order to get players which would improve the team immediately. Sources have told me that this scenario is even more likely should they get the first overall pick since that pick is likely to be Auston Matthews and the last thing they need right now is another top young centre. If they can't hit the jackpot by trading that first pick (or one of the top 3), they could swap that pick with one of the top 5 picking teams by swapping picks and getting a top player or two in that trade.

I've also heard rumblings over the past month that the Arizona Coyotes will go all out in order to be able to draft Matthews. The reason is that Matthews is a local product and having him play for them would do wonders for the fan base. If this is to happen, he won't come cheap.

Look behind you.
I do not think Stubbs will become an Oiler, the Oilers have already mentioned that there is a great chance they will trade their first pick away and probably throw in one or two of their previous first round picks.
I will be smiling for a week if the Oilers get first pick again.

I do not think the Oilers will take Subban, in the Edmonton news it says they will probably trade their first round plus one or two precious first round picks for defense.
I will be smiling if the Oilers get first pick again, not that it is going to help them but just to piss off a Leafs fan I know ( He figures the last draft was rigged because of Edmontons new stadium ).

Like you Doc, I as well do not think the Leafs will win the lottery but they will no doubt get a blue chip prospect wherever they pick be it 1, 2, 3 or 4. The one thing i am thrilled about is that detroit will NOT be picking a blue chipper in June :bounce:

I agree on all counts!!

The Leafs will get a blue-chip prospect or more, no matter what happens. If they do trade their draft position, my gut-feeling is that they'll still wind up getting one or more blue-chip prospects/players in a trade.

It must suck to be a Red Wings fan right now! lol

I am not so sure Edmonton gets much better by trading for the human turnover machine aka pk subban. Leave him in Mtl i say so that contract can come back to haunt them in about two more years, maybe three tops.

I'm also hoping that they keep Subban. And shockingly, i'm also glad that Carey Price will remain with them for at least another season. His market value will never as high as it was a year ago and he's on the downswing of a very good career. Too bad he had to get injured on a yearly basis, but that's life folks!

Watching the Caps-Pens game, they called goalie interference on Capitals. No chance. The Capitals player was checked into the Penguins goalie by a Penguins defensemen. That is NOT a penalty. It's called "shit happens in front of the goal." Should be a 1-1 game. I can't believe they took that goal away.

They should just draft the big American D-man Jakob Chychrun and then trade some offense for some more seasoned D help but they will likely draft more offense lol...Alexander Nylander or Matthew Tkachuk might be too tempting for them to pass up.
