NHL Lottery Night
Tonight's the night!!!
The Leafs have 20% odds of winding up with the first overall pick.
However, i unfortunately don't expect them to wind up with the first pick. Call me a pessimist, but although people who believe they will tell me that they have a 20% chance of getting it, i point out that they also have an 80% chance of not getting that first overall pick.
And if the Leafs do not wind up with that first overall pick, do not be entirely if they shop that pick around in order to get a great off from any other team wishing to move up in the draft. That team would of course have to surrender it's onwn first-round pick, other picks (2nd & 3rd) and possibly next year's #1 pick. And possibly young players that could help the Leafs in years to come.
The Leafs have likely been stacking up picks in order to make several lucrative offers to RFA's out there. Getting more picks for their own first-round pick (if it's not the first overall) will only add to their strategy of not only signing RFA's to offer sheets, but build the club for years to come.
Among the RFA's likely to be signed to an offer sheet by the Leafs are some of the league's most respected goaltenders, such as Frederik Andersson and Petr Mrazek.
