Just heard it's a game time decision on whether Rempe plays. Laviolette concerned refs are prejudiced against him and he will take unfair penalties. Chytil is a possible replacement !!!!!
“I think he’s a guy that gets eyes on him for sure,” Laviolette said. “Just the size of him and the way he plays the game. I can’t think of a guy who’s had such a big impact in his introduction into the National Hockey League. There was a lot that was surrounding his presence. I think the eyes get drawn to him.

“I know the game happens quickly as well. We go back, and I’ve said this before, even the hit where it did cross a line, we go back and we teach him about the game. We teach him about hitting, when to fight, when not to fight. We talk to him about systems. He’s a young player. He’s done a really good job for us inside of that. So I do think eyes are on him just because of his size a little bit, but I know that the game happens pretty fast and decisions are made quick out there.”

Very similar story to the one we saw with MTL’s WiFi in his first year.

I think Rempe is better at what he does or is supposed to do than Arber Xhekaj. He has a higher hockey IQ. He is also a lot bigger and the size is what his problem is. Referees are prejudiced by that and his reputation, so they overreact. Laviolette has consistently praised Rempe and his responsiveness to coaching. The problem is his rep precedes him, and now that the Rangers are in the playoffs and playing a real good team with a real good PP, it's dangerous to play Rempe.

I think both are way too green to make a valid estimation on their respective qualities and weaknesses. Now for the size vs effectiveness at fighting, they didn’t really went at it so far. But what I have seen from Rempe is he takes several serious blows when he fights. Xhekaj has managed to avoid getting these shots so far. In the long term it will affect Rempe, if he doesn’t get better.

Wow the amount of penalties in the NYR-Canes is crazy!
And 6 out of 12 are for tripping!!! I don’t think I ever saw this before.
Heading to the 2nd overtime.

Vinny Trochek's 5th consecutive playoff game scoring a goal ties a Rangers franchise record and wins the game!

Wow, two OT games last night, Rangers 57 SOG ( wrote the Rangers off early ) nice comeback by Colorado. Picking Boston and Edmonton tonight. Heard Demko will not be back until game 4, tough break for the Canucks.

The most impressive thing about the Rangers last night was Laviollette's guts in playing Rempe. As I posted above Laviollette and the coaching staff believe in Rempe and that he is soaking up the coaching he is getting on when and when not to fight. If you watched the video I posted, he specifically said so. The coaches are trusting Rempe, and they are trusting him in a situation where you need BIG BALLS to do that, knowing the refs are prejudiced against him. And if you watched the game last night, Rempe was cheapshotted by Noesen after the whistle blew, actually went down and no penalty was called. Rempe knows he needs to be careful and pick his spots. He provoked Noesen, got cheap shotted, and didn't retaliate. He got the job done of unnerving Noesen and didn't take a penalty, and almost drew one in the process. Mission accomplished!!!!

As for the criticism that he takes too many blows when he does fight: he is a big target at 6'8.5" and 250, and easier to hit, but he can also absorb some of the blows better than a smaller man. I realize you can't take too many clean head shots no matter how big you are, but he is new to the league, is fighting with highly experienced and seasoned goons, and he will get better. The bottom line is the coaches like the work he is doing and he doesn't need to answer to anyone else.

Have you seen the murder attempt by the dangerous Jacob Trouba in ivertime ?
Fortunately the Canes player was able to escape it.
Trouba is known to dangerous body checks on vulnerable players.
