I never thought he’d get the money he was asking for & kidos to him he got the big contract. He’s now the highest paid goalie in the entire history of hockey & after the Habs gave Carey Price $10.5 million per season 5 years ago that record was bound to be broken! $11.5 million per season for 8 years! Last night the pundits on HNIC & elsewhere around the league said that it was a travesty how Chris Drury handled the Trouba situation ever since last summer when they had him traded to Detroit only for him to rightly betoe the trade. They said they broke their end of the bargain by not recognizing the no-trade clause in his contract that they had both negotiated in good faith. They were all saying it’ll be very difficult for the Rangers to expect loyalty from players considering how they bungled the Trouba situation & that many potential free agents would likely pass at joining the Rangers considering tue lack of respect shown towards a veteran player who was one of the leaders on their team. Drury pretty much stuck a gun to the former Ranger captain’s head & threatened to put him on waivers if he didn’t agree to a trade.
