I think Slapshot is Paul Newman's best movie and came at the pinnacle of his career. Who can forget the scene below:

Or the scene when the opposing goalie is shutting out the Chiefs and Reg taunts him into leaving the goal crease to fight, after which a goal is scored:

That's my favourite movie Paul Newman starred in but I don't think it's his best acting performance. It's hard to say but it's gotta be one of The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke or Hud. He was also great in The Hustler sequel The Color of Money for which he won an AA.

I agree. 'Slap Shot' may actually be Newman's worst movie if you look at all the masterpieces he's appeared in. Sure, 'Slap Shot' was a popular cult-like movie, but far from being his best. One of my favorite performances of his was in the Oscar-nominated movie "The Verdict", in which Newman also was nominated in for best actor.

Look behind you.
It was a very good movie. But i still prefer the original b & w version with Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck.

Still trying to find this version, have not seen it yet. Cape Fear, original..

George Dzundza also appeared on the first season of Law & Order, probably in my top 3 TV shows ever. Also appeared in one of my fav movies No Way Out. He deserved more starring roles because he's a solid actor. I'm sure his being overweight didn't help.
The Deer Hunter is no doubt a classic but I do find it tends to drag on at times.

Well if you are a George Dzundza fan, I strongly advise you to watch the war film "The Beast" from 1988.

In it he probably plays his best onscreen role, that of Daskal, the head of tank crew being relentlessly pursued in the Afghan desert by Mujahadeen fighters, with them a former member of the tank crew, who was left for dead, and who wants ... revenge!
That movie is truly a hidden gem, which unfortunately came and went by unnoticed, under the shadow of the cartoony blockbuster Rambo III, which came out in the same year and with the same setting ( the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan).
George is also at his thinnest I have ever seen in a movie!

Cop Land (1997) still holds up today,It is set in the seventies so may seem somewhat dated .( just remember while watching.. it is set in the 70 s) Good story lines ,the movie moves along with no boring scenes. Harvey Keitel,Robert De Niro, Ray Liota, Sly Stallone.

Thomas Crown Affair.

Prefer the ending in the original version but overall Brsnan pulls it off much better. But I don't like the ending with Brosnan.

Gone with the Wind

Still a great movie and hard to believe it was made way back in 1939. The main actors were all top-notch. If there's a negative it's the somewhat miscasting of Leslie Howard in the role of Ashley Wilkes. He himself complained that he may have been too old for the role. This is the reason why it's difficult to believe that Scarlet O'Hara would fall head over heals for this guy with all the handsome younger (and older) guys in the state of Georgia wooing her.

Her lusting for Ashley Wilkes blinded her to the fact that the best man for her was Rhett Butler, who loved her for what she was and gave her everything she wanted. But she wasn't satisfied and only when it was too late did she realize they were a perfect match and all along he was the man for her.
