Its a good thing that windows 10 home edition does not have advance features like remote desktop connection. My friend was logging in from work and various places onto is home computer using remote desktop, even worse he as a VPN enabled.
I am not sure how the hacker did it, but when my friend logged in one night from work, the webpage open was is bank. The hacker manage to get is password and login to is home computer, did some transfers, I am not sure if the e transfer were is real name.
My friend went to is bank and they open an investigation, he receive an email from the bank with a case number, but the hacker sent him a text message with is address telling him to cancel the request from the bank and to send him an extra 5000$ and not go to the cops or he will come to is home and cause trouble. Death treat.
From what we could see the guy would be in Ontario but since its fraud and death treat I think the police will do something. Poor guy he is shaken up. The worse is those hackers are little scum bag push over.
Can't wait to see how it turns out, for my part on my smart phone i never downloaded the app from the bank, i never ever make any transaction from my smart phone, i have a vpn on my pc but when i am not home the pc is closed, and i have every transaction from the bank done i get a SMS text message from the bank. I have 2 point verification enabled too on every site i got.
Its a crazy world we live in
